"A… Dagger?"
Ethel muttered, somewhat surprised. It seemed like they were going to get a reward after all.
There was a compartment beneath the piece of wood that Carrot had pulled out of the floor. The compartment was made of a black metal that Ethel didn't recognize.
"Yes… And since it's a red dagger, I think it must have belonged to the Redbitt family at some point."
Carrot carefully pulled out the dagger with a blood-red blade wrapped in a white silk cloth.
A rusty smell spread through the office, causing the girls to grimace.
"… Such a strong smell of blood, how many lives has this weapon claimed?"
Ethel narrowed her eyes. The smell of blood that they were both sensing wasn't something physical, but rather spiritual. The killing intent remaining in the dagger was so strong that it even affected people's minds.
