Sakari led him to a section in the back. A long stone counter blocked off the rows of shelves behind it from everyone on the other side, and a bored-looking older woman with glasses stood behind it, leaning on the counter with her chin in her hand.
"Greetings, keeper," Sakari said politely, bowing her head slightly.
"State your business," the woman replied in a tone that sounded as bored as she looked, not even looking their way.
"I wish to see the core teachings for the Aspiring King rank, and to look at the techniques for a Frost affinity, if we have any."
That caught the librarian's attention, and she straightened as she examined Sakari's face. Her eyes flashed with recognition, and after a quick bow of her head, she spoke.
"I do not understand, my lady. A King should have only Shadow and Fire. How have you attained Frost before the Enthroned Emperor rank?"
"It is not for me," replied Sakari respectfully, "but for my Phylactery."
