"And that is…?" Lokus asked.
"An old moniker from the early days of our clan," Allvain began. "It was reserved for our elders who were much too old to contribute to the clan's goals in the traditional sense, but still deserved our respect.
"A Shrouded has no authority over anyone else in the clan, but also is not beholden to anyone save the Daemons, something you will have to accept if you wish to partake of our clan's benefits.
"The Daemons rarely exercise their influence on anyone besides those with new or full moons, so it is mostly a formality, but one I cannot remove." Her eyes drifted to Sakari. "Is that acceptable?"
Sakari nodded. "If that is the best option we have, then we will take it."
Allvain returned the nod, then gestured Lokus over. After a brief hesitation, he stepped forward, giving her his right hand when she asked for it.
