Lokus, of course, heard Ibmund's thoughts, but he held no answer for how this was possible, because even he hadn't expected it to work. He had only lashed out with Frost out of pure instinct borne of a desire to survive.

Unlike the demon, he wasn't surprised at it, not really. His Phantom Frost was bound to be different in some way, and "Phantom" was right in the name. But there was still an irritating itch in the back of his mind, as if he was missing a piece of the puzzle.

'What could it be?' he wondered as he began to walk.

His Blood Trait, Grimn's Mark, came from the same place as this new affinity, or at least he believed it did. He had gotten them both at the same time, that being when he awakened his demon bloodlines.
