The sound was soul-piercing, heart-wrenching, as if Sakari's soul had been set aflame along with her body. Which, unbeknownst to Lokus, was close to what was happening.

Tears from fell Sakari's eyes, but they evaporated in the heat instantly. Her clothes were quickly reduced to ash as the fire raged more and more, but the fire was so great that it hid her form almost completely.

Her body, from what little he could see, hardly changed, only slightly reddening in response to the heat rather than cracking and blackening like one would expect.

Just when he felt the fire had gone out of control and was about to stand and find help, he paused. The feathers on the circle crackled and rumbled with thunder, the sound reverberating off the stone walls to shake his insides as a wall of lightning shot up from the floor to ceiling, boxing the flames in.
