William sat against the wall, supporting his back, with his hands hugging his knees. Norman stood there, giving William a furious look. William tried his best to avert his eyes from the stranger. It had been like this for the past 15 minutes, with the room filled with silence.
Norman couldn't hold it any longer. "Don't think I will get fooled if you pretend to be innocent. Tell me now, demon. Tell me your plan. You are working for the demon lord, aren't you? How did you guys do it? What place is this? Release me right now or you will regret your life. And moreover, why can't I feel any magic here?" Norman flooded William with a series of threatening questions, but William remained silent, ignoring Norman, keeping his eyes towards the wall.
Finally, Norman lost it. "OPEN YOUR GODDAMN MOUTH! WILL YOU?" he shouted.
Only then, William uttered softly, "Okay," and slowly got up from the floor. He extended his hands and showed three fingers, startling Norman with a serious look on his face. "If you want me to speak, you must do three things," he said.
"Ha, there you are, showing your true colors after pretending to be innocent," scoffed Norman. "Tell me what it is."
"Number 1: Cover yourself first. I cannot concentrate when you are bare naked like that.
Number 2: I will explain certain things. Don't interrupt when I am talking.
Number 3: Undo all these drawings in my room and let me go."
William was a tactical teenager who believed that adaptation is the base for survival. He would not keep weeping and complaining about any of his problems. He never had, not when his father died in an accident nor when his mother could not attend his school events and meetings due to her work in the company. He was a cheerful young man who did whatever he was best at without caring about others' opinions. He knew that there was something weird and supernatural going on right now in front of him. But he knew that his fear or crying would not help. It would only make the situation worse. Better he faced the situation head-on by talking some sense into the stranger. He would tackle whatever comes next.
Norman decided to play with the young boy for the time being. He went and sat on the bed, covering his lower half with the sheets on the bed. "I am fine with your second request. I won't interrupt you while you talk, but for the third one, it depends on how truthful you come out to me," he said and decided to listen to the person he doubted to be the demon's lackey.
William pulled his rotating chair a few feet away from Norman, facing him directly. He let out a long breath before starting to explain. "My name is William, and you're currently in my room. I'm not a demon or devil, as you accused me of. I'm a 17-year-old high school student, not even an adult yet, so please refrain from putting on a show in front of me. This planet is Earth. I think you're probably not from here. The things in my room are everyday amenities to make life comfortable. There's no concept of magic here, only science and technology. There are also no demons; they only exist in fantasy stories and books. I know you may not believe me, so please take a look through the window or go outside and explore for yourself. Furthermore, I have nothing to do with you being in my room. If anything, I should be the one complaining about your forced intrusion into my room. No one's stopping you from searching for your way home, so please, can you move and get lost so that I can concentrate on my work?" William spoke quickly, and when he finished, he left the room in complete silence.
Norman sat silently, processing everything William had said. He still doubted the young man, but some of it made sense. To reassure himself, he quickly got up, still wrapped in sheets, and looked outside the window. He saw many huge metal boxes moving on well-laid roads that he had never witnessed in his world. Street lamps glowed without the help of magic stones, and there were big signboards, buildings of strange architecture, and people in weird clothing similar to that of the young boy standing in front of him.
He gave William a confused look, still not wanting to believe what he said. He quickly undid the magical drawings on William's room. With a pull on the doorknob, the door easily broke, and Norman threw the door to the side, continuing down the stairs, leaving a wide-mouthed William aside. He climbed the clean-cut stairs to reach the living hall of the house and placed his hand on the entrance door. Before he could break that door too, William rushed forward and shouted, "Let me open it. Hey, don't break this one too."
Norman rushed outside when the door was open, and the unfamiliar air mixed with different scents and strange noises hit his nose and ears. There was a woman closing her eyes and walking fast upon seeing Norman, followed by an old lady shaking her head and murmuring something like, "...tsk tsk....young people these days don't have any shame."
"Do you believe me now?" asked William, standing behind Norman, giving a glaring look.
After some silence Norman opened his mouth.
"Err..umm…kid..can you…cough cough..can you lend me any spare clothes?" asked Norman awkwardly, adjusting his throat.
