Chapter 22 - Reveng Plot [Part 2]

Asumi, now at level nine, scuttled down the rough, gnarled stem of the plant, his legs gripping the surface with surprising strength. His antennae twitched, sensing the scent of fresh vegetation in the air. Determined to find a better food supply, he reached the ground and continued, carefully calculating the risk and reward.

As he reached the base of a lush bush, Asumi's eyes caught sight of a grasshopper basking in the sunlight. With a hint of satisfaction in his eyes, he cautiously approached, his mandibles clicking softly with anticipation.

"Ah, another guy with a ton of Exp," Asumi muttered to himself, his excitement palpable. "Just what I need to level up faster."

But before he could launch his attack, the grasshopper's keen senses detected the subtle movement of Asumi's shadow. With a sudden leap, the grasshopper evaded Asumi's grasp, leaving the beetle to hit his head on a rock behind the grasshopper with an audible thud.

"Ouch," Asumi scuttled back a few steps, his mandibles snapping in frustration. "Bastard!" he exclaimed.

Undeterred by his failure, Asumi wandered in the bushes for a second chance. He spotted another unsuspecting grasshopper nearby. With steely resolve, he launched himself into action, his legs a blur of motion as he came after the grasshopper. The grasshopper saw something coming after it and started leaping through the dense foliage of the bush.

"Come back here, I need those experience points!" Asumi shouted, his voice a squeaky echo amidst the rustling leaves. Together, they zigzagged through the undergrowth.

But the grasshopper was not one to be caught easily. He mused, "The hell is this guy's problem? Why won't he leave me alone?" With each nimble leap, it evaded Asumi's grasp, darting effortlessly through gaps in the foliage.

Asumi's frustration mounted with each passing moment, his breath coming in short, rapid gasps as he pushed his small, growing body to its limits. "Not again!" he groaned, his voice tinged with a mixture of exhaustion and irritation.

As the chase stretched on, Asumi's stamina and perseverance finally paid off. The grasshopper, exhausted from the continuous pursuit, slowed its pace, its breath coming in ragged gasps. It muttered, "Ugh, who the hell is this guy? Why won't he leave me alone?" Sensing an opportunity, Asumi seized the moment, using his new ability, Rhino Charge.

Asumi lunged forward, his body a blur of motion as he closed the distance between himself and his prey. In a swift move, he rammed his pointed horn into the grasshopper's vulnerable side, catching it off guard.

The grasshopper let out a startled chirp as Asumi's attack struck it, sending it tumbling to the ground in a dazed and weakened state. "I need to get out of here," said the grasshopper. With satisfaction, Asumi exclaimed, "Yes, I finally did it."

Asumi wasted no time in seizing the opportunity he had fought so hard to achieve. Rushing forward, he clamped his mandibles firmly around the grasshopper's thorax, his tiny muscles straining with the effort of subduing his prey. With a final, tight squeeze, he cut off the grasshopper's airflow, its struggles gradually growing weaker until its entire body ceased altogether.

Breathing heavily, Asumi surveyed his hard-won prize with a mixture of satisfaction and relief. "At last," he exclaimed, his voice tinged with relief. "All that hard work has paid off. Now it's time to try this one!"

Asumi opened his mandibles, biting into the grasshopper's chest. He pulled out the flesh, chewed, and swallowed it. After the bite, he commented on the grasshopper's taste, "Wow, the best I've tasted."

With the taste of victory still fresh in his mandibles, Asumi wasted no time in setting his sights on his next target. Energized by his recent win, he prowled through the foliage with renewed strength, his senses keen and alert for any sign of movement.

Suddenly, he spotted another grasshopper, its sleek form poised to leap at the slightest hint of danger. But Asumi was prepared this time, his reflexes honed by his previous encounters. "One thing my past encounters have taught me is to strike when the iron is hot."

With a swift and decisive movement, he pounced, catching the unsuspecting grasshopper off guard before it could even react.

"Gotcha!" Asumi exclaimed, his voice filled with satisfaction as he clamped his mandibles firmly around his prey. The grasshopper struggled briefly, but Asumi pinned it down.

With quick efficiency, Asumi started devouring his meal, his jaws working tirelessly to tear through the tough exoskeleton of the grasshopper. Each bite brought a burst of flavor that sent a shiver of pleasure down his spine, fueling his appetite for more.

Suddenly, as he was eating, he came across a huge grasshopper two times his size. The grasshopper loomed over Asumi and watched as he preyed on his species as food. The grasshopper wasn't pleased and was seriously offended.

Asumi turned his face slightly and looked at him. He mused, "Oh crap, this might actually be a problem."

Asumi spread out his wings and took flight once more, soaring high above the field of towering grass below. "This is only the beginning," he muttered to himself, his gaze fixed on the horizon.
