Sir Dorren and Archmage Dieter left Calden Castle, and several soldiers were walking after them to strengthen the guard at Sir Dorren's residence. Quentin watched the departure of the two old men through the castle's third-floor corridor.
"Are you watching for something?" asked a woman, clearly distinctive to Quentin's ears.
The voice came from Quentin's right, precisely from the direction of the castle's second floor. Quentin turned his head to the side, watching Lady Sera walking alone without an escort as if she was in her home.
"How did you walk out of your chamber?" asked Quentin.
"Lady Marcella invited me out. She invited me to enjoy the beautiful gardens of Calden Castle in the back," said Lady Sera.
"Then where is she?" asked Quentin.
"She went out to buy something with Lord Geoffrey," replied Lady Sera, standing beside Quentin.
