Along with three soldiers in the red robes of Helferich, Quentin left Mathilde Castle on a horse. Behind him was a horse-drawn carriage carrying cloth bags full of gold pieces for distribution to the merchants in the market.
The three soldiers did not leave on foot but by riding along with the horse-drawn carriage. Two soldiers sat in the carriage while the other sat beside the coachman.
Again, Quentin's presence in Mathilde's city center was noticed by many people. Instead of looking at Quentin cynically, they greeted the man with politeness and respect, as if they were saluting their ruler.
Quentin raised his hand and waved it, greeting the good people. A smile spread across Quentin's face pleased that the city folk's attitude had changed towards him.
