Lee Han was surprised when he found a set of clean, brand-new clothes neatly arranged inside the wardrobe near the entrance.
He smiled, feeling slightly better after spending all his gold coins; he got a fresh set of clothes, complete with new shoes and a jacket. He also had a temporary house during his stay in this place to avoid the harsh weather.
After closing the wardrobe, his gaze fixed on the clean bed, he suddenly feels his exhausted strike back. He brings himself to lie down on the comfortable bed. However, he can't sleep because he is too busy thinking about his next plan.
He opened his eyes again and stared at the white ceiling above while planning to survive in this place and how to return to his hometown to check whether his house was ruined, just like this place.
If that happened, he worried about his little sister and grandma. How could they survive!?
Too frightened to think about their condition, Lee Han put aside his thoughts and checked his system.
Once again, he saw the inventory with a series of price tags under the stuff. Only looking at the price makes him feel like an instant beggar.
The price is costly.
...
The concept of money in this place is the same within the game. There are only three types of money: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. All this money can be exchanged for items in inventory.
Unfortunately, Lee Han's current situation is different from when he played beta tester. This time, he only received a little money, which forced him to carry out a quest to earn money or hunt beasts and undead.
Suddenly, something distracted his mind.
'How about my life?'
Lee Han was stunned, wondering whether he only had one life in this place. If he died in this place, he would perish!?
His blood ran cold at the thought of him dying in this world and never seeing his family and friends again.
When he was about to close his system, suddenly, his gaze landed on the top left corner.
[Race]
Lee Han recalled that his race should be human.
However, when he checked his race status, what appeared shocked him.
"Superhuman!? What does this mean? Lara, can you explain!?"
When he played beta tester, he remembered that his Race was listed as 'Human,' so why was the word 'Super' now added?
'You belong to the Superhuman Race because the system has selected you,' Lara explained.
"So, does that mean not every human gains the system once they arrive in this kingdom?"
'Yes. Only the chosen one, like you, has this system.'
Lee Han was even more surprised to hear that. If not everyone has the same system as him, how can others survive here?
Suddenly, Lee Han felt incredibly lucky to encounter the beautiful elf, Seraphina. He hoped they could meet again in the future.
Lee Han decided not to continue to ask Lara about his system, as he knew the similarity between his game panel in the beta tester and what he now gets.
But, something troubles his mind now.
What happened to this place?
In the game, he could still see another adventurer or NPC around the city. But since he arrived here, he hasn't seen a single human, only Seraphina. This place has completely turned into a ghost town.
"Lara, explain to me what has happened here. Why can't I see anyone around?"
'A group of villains triggered the forbidden gate, allowing the invasion of monsters in this kingdom. Because this place is far from the main city, the Protectors discovered the attack too late. The town is already ruined, and almost all humans have turned undead—' Lara paused when she heard Lee Han interrupt her.
"The Protectors? What are they?" This was the first time he had heard about them.
'They are known as The God Eye, a team of the mightiest individuals from various races. They serve as the ultimate authority and uphold peace in this kingdom, and the people call them The Protector.'
"Is that so—"
Lara continued,
'Later, The Adventurer and a few Protectors finally arrived and rescued the remaining survivors. However, they were too late, and most of the population had already perished. The few survivors were evacuated to the main city. Now, this small town stands empty, with only a handful of adventurers recently arriving in this kingdom, including you.'
Lee Han suddenly sat down upon hearing Lara's last words.
"Only a few adventurers?" Lee Han asks. "Did they also come from Earth?" Suddenly, he got goosebumps as he imagined all the beta tester players being transferred to this place.
'I don't understand what you mean,' Lara said, perplexed by Lee Han's question. 'From what I know, these people are scattered across different locations. If you venture out to explore the town, there's a chance you might encounter them.'
Suddenly, another plan appears in his mind. He must find another adventurer, especially those who have just arrived in this place. He was curious and wanted to know if they were people he knew, his gaming friends.
'I advise you to explore during the day, as the night temperature is not something you should ignore,' Lara warned him.
Lee Han didn't pay much attention to Lara's following explanation, as his mind was now distracted by other adventures, human-like him.
If his guess was correct, the new adventurer Lara said, probably all the beta testers like him. His heart raced with excitement at the prospect of reuniting with his former team, making his way to return to his hometown easier.
After he had learned what had happened to him and what terrible thing had happened in this place, Lee Han stood from the bed and approached the window.
As he opened the curtains, a breathtaking scenery unfolded before his eyes.
He had been inside his room for several hours, and it should have been dark by now. But it looks like nothing has changed since his last glimpse outside. He still can see the ruined buildings, stretching as far as his eyes can see.
