Chapter 6 - Run!!

With one hand still holding his gun firmly, Lee Han opens the door slowly, trying not to make any sound to alert the undead behind the door.

What he saw behind the door was nothing but darkness. There was no light in that place, only a dim light behind him.

Lee Han opens the door widely to see clearly. The room turned out to be an office with tables and chairs surrounded by bookcases, like a library.

The room looked neat, but the dust was visible as if no one had ever been there.

'Where are they, Lara?' Lee Han asked through their mental connection. He didn't find any traces of the undead there.

'There is a secret door that leads to the basement.' Lara's voice sounds in his mind.

Lee Han silently swallows, hearing there is the basement.

'Are you sure there are only ten undead there?' He asked again, starting to get anxious. He was worried there wouldn't be enough bullets to complete this quest.

'Yes. But, whether they are ordinary undead, I can't tell unless I see them…' Lara answers, only to weigh Lee Han's fear.

He never encountered this place when he played the beta tester. This place is entirely different, so he has no clue about this church and the hidden door that leads to the basement.

Lee Han found the light switch; he immediately turned on the light.

After a few seconds, Lee Han looked around to find a hidden door leading underground; he finally noticed something suspicious — An unusual-looking handle nestled among the neatly arranged books.

He pulled the handle, and a cracking sound was heard. At the same time, one of the bookshelves slowly moved, and a staircase leading to the darkness below appeared.

Lee Han gripped his gun tightly as he slowly descended the old wooden stairs. He could smell the unpleasant odor that tormented his nose as he descended the stairs.

He couldn't back down now; he just moved forward and held his breath while raising his guard.

'Adventurer Lee Han, what is your plan?' Lara suddenly distracted Lee Han.

He silently gulped before replying, 'My plan?'

'Yes.'

Lee Han's steps stopped when he finally reached the end of the stairs. He heard footsteps running towards him before he could breathe normally. Still, he didn't see anything because his vision was so limited by the room's darkness. The room he was in only had light from the room behind him.

"My plan… Run!!!" Lee Han shouted while turning back and running, climbing the stairs as fast as he could.

"Fuck!! Why are these zombies running fast??" Lee Han cursed as he heard the footsteps getting faster and felt his back turn extremely cold as if someone had just poured cold water on it.

When he arrives at the last step, he turns back and shoots the temple of the undead with a pale, disfigured face just a few steps from him.

Pop pop!

Two burst shots, and the undead's head exploded when the bullets landed on his temple. Splashes of dark liquid hit the wall. Lee Han wasted no time; he ran again. He entered the library.

Lee Han could still hear hurried steps coming up the stairs. He stopped near the door, pointing his gun toward the stairs. When the next target appeared, Lee Han did not hesitate to shoot at their head.

Pop!

Pop!

Pop!

Pop!

.

.

Lee Han successfully hit each target with one bullet each. He didn't stop until his final target appeared.

Then…Silent!

No more undead appear.

He waited a few seconds, but no undead appeared.

'Lara, did I get them all?' Lee Han didn't have time to count how many he eliminated. He only counted his fired bullets. He guessed he had completed this mission, but why was there no notification that he had succeeded?

Just before he wanted to relax, he heard Lara's voice in his mind.

'Adventurer Lee Han, I suggest you... To run! Their Boss was next to appear…' Lara warned, shocked Tristan.

Before he could move, Lee Han suddenly saw a beautiful red-haired woman appear right before him. Her alluring smile framed her pale face, with her bright red eyes staring intently at him as if he were her delicious lunch.

'Damn!! Is this woman their Boss?!' Lee Han muttered. He somehow knew this woman was a zombie, boss type; she could think and act like a human with an attractive human face. This woman's movements were even faster than the zombies he killed earlier.

Lee Han quickly decided to become more offensive by making the first attack. He shot her temple without hesitation, but he was shocked because the woman could dodge his bullet easily.

He exited the library fast, searching for a hiding spot inside the church. When he saw the woman running after him closely, he shot again with his last bullet.

Pop!

This time, it finally hits her head.

But she was only stopped. Her zombie's head was not blown up. Nevertheless, it gave Lee Han more time to get further from her.

Seconds later, she started to walk despite stumbling. She hissed, her eyes looking at him sharply and getting madder.

Afraid that this zombie would launch a powerful attack toward him, Lee Han glanced at the small grenade on his vest and took another initiative by throwing it at the boss zombie.

"Bye bye, bitch!! Haha…" Lee Han shouted, laughing as he ran out of the church. Just before his feet exited the door, a loud explosion banging loudly through the air. Instantly, his body was blown away by the shockwave of the explosion behind him.

His body flew a few meters and landed on the ground near a three.

Lee Han fell with his face nearly kissing the ground. His nose would probably flatten if only his hands weren't supporting his face. He could feel pain in his ears and his arms numb.

When Lee Han turned to look at the church, his eyes widened in shock.
