As the steps were getting closer, a flame would spark in the darkness. Revealing a figure of another man, who wore run-down clothing. He looked like a prisinor himself. Though he seemed a bit off. He helt a sword, which was drained in blood. He swung said sword and destroyed the door of Yamato's cell. Then turned around and left, without saying a word. Yamato, slightly suprised by this, stepped out of his cell and looked over to the man he previously talked to. He was dead. Yamato, not bothered by that, stepped over the body and looked after the man who freed him. While he was unable to feel emotions like graditute, he was curious about his motive.
Yamato could hear a tumult out of the direction the stranger went to. Naturally, he just walked after the noise. This was such a bizzare situation, it was almost not boring to Yamato. Almost. As he got closer to the source of noise, it got increasingly hot in the area. It was then when he realized that he was in a kind of mass prison. Left and right, one empty cell after the other. They've all been opened by force. It was therefore most likely a mass prison breakout, caused by an unknown amount of people. The man from earlier looked rather suspicious, and his behavior seemed forced aswell. But something weird was about this place. Its size was immense, concidering the amount of time Yamato spent walking around. He also walked in a round shape, though nothing ever repeated. He knew there was no repetition based on the curve of the wall. Yamato could calculate the circle to be around 150 meters in diameter, which means its circumference would be around 471,24 meter. So he just counted steps and marked doors in different ways. Scratching, blocking or whatever would make the place identifiable. But even after walking 1324,89 meters, he never found one of the by him previously made marks. There was also no curve up or down, which he checked by placing a relatively round rock on the ground. Since it didn't start rolling, the ground had to be somewhat straight. Knowing all that, it couldn't be a spiral or similar (due to lack of up or down curve). Neither could it be a normal circle (due to lack of repetition while walking along the circle). Which meant it was some sort of loop. Concidering that this world was about magic and similar, this was an plausible explanation for the situation. Yamato felt bored with the simplicity of the situation. He just sat down snd looked at a wall, listening to the noise and feeling the heat rising.
And only after a couple of minutes, the scenery was about to change. First, a crack formed in the wall. Then, the cracks spread further on the wall, light shining through the cracks. It was then when the heat started to increase drastically, and the light started to shine brighter. Yamato took a step away from the wall, just before it started to crumble, creating a hole out of the looping prison. Revealing a massive tree that the prison was build around. Right infront of the hole was Yuki, who smiled brightly at Yamato while flying in the air. Below her, was the entire forest burned down. It didn't look like anyone survived. She flew over to him and hugged him tightly. She spoke excitedly to him about what happened.
"Master, I'm so glad you're alright! It was all super scary without you. There were these disgusting, stupid, worthless people that asked me dumb questions. They were sooo stupid, they put me in a cell with some lowlifes instead of together with you! But then those stupid lowlifes tried stupid things. Bit it was alright, cause I killed half of the ones in my cell and then the rest started worshipping me! So I told them to free all the prisoners and kill everyone else. I thought that's the easiest way to free you!"
Yamato just took the hug and patted her head. She seemed really happy to see him again. He still spoke in a rather normal tone, without excitement or similar.
"Good work, Yuki. You said you let half of them live? I only see us here though…"
"Oh, that's right! I forgot about that… so I told them that once they freed everyone, they should come back to me. Then I stole their soules so I'd get some magic to save you! Then I just killed everything until I found you. Though, this place was tough to get into cause it had multiple barriers of anti magic defense. But I figured that if I attack it over and over again, it'd break sooner or later."
"Well I guess that works… you're pretty strong, huh?"
Yuki blushed at that and started getting flustered.
"Uhm… y-yes I suppose I am…"
She was gonna go for a kiss, though she was interrupted by something. The whole tree was suddenly starting to fall down. Yuki immediately started to fly up with Yamato. She wasn't going to allow anyone to take him from her again, so whatever caused this interruption had her deepest hatred directed towards.
Down at the ground, there stood a tall man in white armor and holding a big sword. The tree appeared to be sliced down by him. He looked at Yuki and Yamato, Yuki's wings now fully visible as she used them to carry Yamato.
The man, without any warning or provocation, threw his sword at the two. Yuki, who's only priority was Yamato's saftey, had enough of this man already. She summoned a beacon of light, which created three golden swords around her and a black one in her hand. The three swords flew towards the man as Yuki looked at him with disgust. The sword the man threw was about to collide with one of Yuki's golden ones, but the golden sword just passed through it and continued flying towards the man, while the man's sword got parried by the sword Yuki held in her hand. The man looked surprised, as Yuki floated above him holding on to Yamato. His sword flew back towards his hand, but it was too slow to get back in time. Yuki's three golden swords all hit the mans armor, though they couldn't penetrate it and just stopped infront of it once the tip reached it. Annoyed by this, Yuki held in for a moment, trying to figure out a way to kill him. Yamato didn't really care, and just let Yuki do her thing. Yuki held her sword up and swung it down through the air, which had no effect at first, but after one second it split the ground in half. The man could dodge, landing next to the massive crack in the ground. He too, swung his sword, which shot a light beam at the two. Yuki covered Yamato and herself with her wings, which countered his attack, though it made them drop a little as it meant she couldn't use them to keep them in the air. While she did catch herself again, they dropped enough to be in striking range for the man in armor. He jumped towards them and attacked with his sword, hitting Yuki, and scratching Yamato. Yuki's wound immediately healed, though she stopped moving and stood on the ground. As she stopped moving, the man in armor stopped too, curious as to why she'd just stop in a battle like this.
Yuki panicked when she saw that he hit Yamato. She immediately healed him, though he didn't show a reaction to the wound or rhe healing. But Yuki sure did. Yamato tried to calm her down a bit, without success.
"I'm alright, Yuki."
But Yuki didn't listen at all. Instead she started to breath heavily, and her halo appeared, shining bright. The man in armor spoke to her, even if he didn't expect an answer.
"You fight well, stranger. You have my respect. I therefore shall give you my name and title. I am The Hero Of Light and-"
"-Shut up! Shut up shut up shut up shut up…!"
Yuki interrupted, not interested at all in his name, title or anything of that sort.
"You worthless pest… lowlife existence… a lower species, that's what you are… I'm going to erase your bloodline… I'm destroying this whole continent if that's what it takes… You die today, I promise you that. Don't you see… you stand infront of a god, you inferior piece of trash!"
"You think you're a god because your little wings shiny halo?"
"Not me! My great, super perfect, superior master, of course!"
She pointed proud at Yamato, who looked the man down, seemingly desinterested already. The man spoke in a mocking tone.
" That guy? He doesn't look like-"
That act of disrespect gave Yuki's patience the rest. The hero got hit by a light beam coming from the sky, which had such an impact, that the hole created by it reached multiple miles down. There was no trace of the hero, and Yuki seemed to calm down a bit. In the middle of the ashes and craters that their fight had created, there was only Yamato and Yuki as the sole survivors. Yuki looked over to Yamato, seemingly embarrassed for having lost composure like that infront of him. She then proceeded to walk towards him, a bit ashamed of herself. Though Yamato just patted her head, giving her approval for her actions. Her embarrassment disappeared as she just felt happy from his attention.
"It's alright, Yuki. You did great. I'm proud of you."
She felt even more satisfaction through his praise.
"Thank you, Master! But… what now?"
Yamato looked around, the destruction leaving nothing but dust behind.
'That's actually a good question… There was this hero now… It's unclear where he came from and what he wanted… a hero wouldn't be a guard to a prison. So it had to something besides just standing around and guarding the place. Then there's also Masami Ryo and how we wanted to find Ken Kento… all unsolved problems but… what for… what's the goal I'm accomplishing with this? Everything I did until now… destroying a village… killing those alley guys… and now destroying this prison forest thing… It all lead back to nothing… no consequences whatsoever…'
