"This is not good!" I whispered.
"Run!" Daniel said.
Just then, we were surrounded by soldiers.
Daniel knelt toward me, bowing his head with his right hand placed on his chest.
"What was he doing?" I thought.
"I pledge upon the royal throne of Asvky, to fight and protect you with my life." He said.
"Don't let them escape, Get me the princess." the man whom seem to be commanding the army spoke.
And like a swarm of bees, they soldiers rushed towards us.
Daniel drew out his sword. But I knew he could never outnumber the soldiers.
But like a hero, he fought bravely, blocking each attacks with his sword.
"Run my lady, I can't go with you." He said.
I knew he was tired but was trying to buy us sometime to escape.
Guilt took over me as I ran with my maids leaving him behind.
We kept running until we reached an alley leading to the castle dungeon.
"My lady, I know of a secret passage that would lead us outside the castles." Lydia said,Pointing at the stairs leading to the dungeon.
I felt suspicious to how she would know of a secret passage in the dungeon of which I wasn't aware of.
But this was not a time for unnecessary interrogations, so I decided to focus.
The dungeon was dark and dusty with rats squeaking at every steps we took.
I notice there were bones of prisoners everywhere, some which seems like they have been there for decades.
The further we went the more suspicious and uneasy and I felt.
I got the feelings that something wasn't right.
I notice how drastically Lydia steps was reducing and she was already a few paces away from us.
Still trying to figure out what was wrong with Lydia.
I and the two other maids got caught in a net.
It was a trap.
"Lydia? What's happening?" I asked, with confusion written all over my face, as I tried to shrug off the net.
"Now you'll know how it feels, living like a slave." She said mockingly, with an evil smirk.
"But what have I done to you? I treated you more like a friend than a servant, why are you doing this?" I asked.
My vision became blurry as tears filled my eyes, but I refused to cry.
"Oh shut up princess! You got all the beauty, luxury and and comfort with ease, while I have to toil and eat from your crumbles." She said.
"Lydia, that's not true!" I said, as if saying that would make her change her mind.
"Am sorry princess, it's too late" she said and began walking up the stairs.
After walking a few steps she stops.
"I'll be right back princess and slaves, enjoy your luxury" Lydia said, laughing wickedly, as she exit the dungeon.
I started sobbing, I felt as though my heart was shredded into pieces. Everything was happening so fast.
Few minutes later, Lydia walked in with four guards. I could immediately recognize them, they were dressed like the soldiers who attacked us at the maids quarters.
"Traitor!" I thought. She has been working with them all along. I felt like strangling her to death.
"Get them down." Lydia commanded, pointing at the net.
The guards loosen the net and we fell to the floor.
"What should we do with them?" One of the guard asked.
"Take the princess to the master, and behead these two." Lydia said, pointing at Tina and Eve.
I gasped.
How could she do that to her friends?
I looked at the maids waiting to here them plead for their live but, I was surprised as they just bowed their heads and remained silent.
What were they thinking? I thought.
I felt guilty and pity for them.
"No! You can't do this to them." I said raising my voice. I was angry.
She stared coldly at me and didn't say a word.
"Tie the bitch up and shut her mouth." she commanded .
My hands were tied behind my back and a dirty piece of cloth was put in my mouth.
I was escorted to the thrown room by Lydia and two of the guards.
I noticed a strange man with a deep scar that stretched from his left eye to his right brow, it looked like a scar gotten from a very sharp blade.
He was sitting on my father's throne.
