Chapter 60 - jealous

As Oliver and Issable enjoyed lunch together in the college cafeteria, Mia, their friend, couldn't resist teasing them about their apparent affection for each other. With a mischievous grin, Mia remarked, "You love birds seems adorable!"

The playful comment caused both Issable and Oliver to blush, their cheeks turning a shade of red. Mia, thoroughly enjoying her role as the teasing friend, continued with a smile, "So, what's your plan for today?"

Oliver, looking at Issable, replied, "Well, we're thinking of grabbing a coffee at the cafe."

Mia, not missing a beat, added with a teasing tone, "How cute! Coffee dates are the best, aren't they?"

Issable, slightly flustered, couldn't help but roll her eyes, saying, "Be quiet, Mia!"

Engaged in conversation, Oliver and Issable found themselves in the midst of a leisurely discussion when a female friend of Oliver's made an unexpected entrance.

"Hello, Oliver!" she called out cheerfully.

Surprised, Oliver greeted her warmly, saying, "Oh! Hey, long time no see!"

Meanwhile, Issable observed the unfolding scene, casually munching on a snack.

However, the friendly reunion took an unexpected turn when Oliver's friend revealed a dilemma. "I've got a problem with my project! Can you please help me?" she implored.

Without hesitation, Oliver offered his assistance. "Sure!" he replied.

Expressing her gratitude, the friend embraced Oliver. "Thank you!" she said before swiftly departing from the scene.

As Oliver returned to his seat, he noticed a subtle shift in Issable's expression – a tinge of frustration. Concerned, he inquired, "What happened?"

Mia, quick to intervene, provided an explanation. "It's nothing! She's just too hungry," she said, attempting to diffuse any tension.

Showing understanding, Oliver suggested, "Oh, I'll buy another set."

Declining the offer, Issable explained, "No thanks, I have class," before briskly leaving the place, clearly agitated.

"Bye, Oliver!" Mia called out, approaching Issable.

Left in a state of confusion, Oliver observed the exchange between Issable and Mia, pondering the nuances of the situation as the two women departed, leaving him with a lingering sense of bewilderment.

In the classroom, Mia took a seat beside Issable, who seemed to be expressing her emotions by resting her head on the table, a playful pretense of sleep.

Mia, ever the tease, couldn't resist poking fun. "What happened? Feeling jealous?" she playfully remarked.

Issable, in a hushed tone, pleaded, "Please be quiet, Mia!"

Unfazed by Issable's request, Mia offered reassurance. "Well, don't worry! He was innocent. Go to the café in the evening! Everything will be alright," she suggested.

Skeptical yet curious, Issable turned her face to Mia and questioned, "Really?"

With a mischievous grin, Mia affirmed, "Yes! Come on, now cheer up!" Her teasing tone aimed to lift Issable's spirits, infusing a touch of lightheartedness into the classroom atmosphere.

As the evening descended upon the college campus, Oliver found himself waiting for Issable in a familiar spot. The soft glow of the setting sun painted a warm ambiance, creating an atmosphere of anticipation.

In the quietude, a group of women approached Oliver, and he greeted them with a genuine smile. Engaging in conversation, the interchange appeared lively, filled with laughter and camaraderie. However, Oliver's attention remained tethered to the impending meeting with Issable.

Watching from a distance, Issable couldn't help but notice the animated scene unfolding. A subtle tension crossed her face as she observed Oliver's interaction with the other women.

As the group conversation concluded, Oliver excused himself with a polite smile and made his way towards the spot where Issable stood.

"Hey Issy, sorry for being late!" Oliver approached her, genuine regret in his voice.

Issable, seemingly unfazed, responded with a curt acknowledgment. "Hm! Don't talk to me!" she declared, starting to walk away.

Concern etched across his face, Oliver quickened his pace to catch up. "Hey! What happened?" he inquired, attempting to understand the abrupt change in her demeanor.

Issable, maintaining a serious tone, brushed off his concern with a succinct, "It's nothing." The tension in the air lingered, leaving the atmosphere between them charged with unspoken emotions.

"Please! Just talk to me!" Oliver pleaded, his sincerity evident in his eyes.

Issable, softened by his genuine concern, felt a hint of reassurance. "Let's go to the café," he suggested, his eyes reflecting sincerity that she couldn't resist.

With a reluctant nod, she agreed, and they walked together towards the café.

In the cozy ambiance of the café, Oliver and Issable found a quiet corner, ordering coffee to accompany their conversation. The soothing hum of the coffee machine and the aroma of freshly brewed beans enveloped them as they delved into a genuine exchange.

After a while, feeling the need to freshen up, Issable excused herself and made her way to the washroom. As she returned, a subtle tension crept into her expression.

To her dismay, she noticed a waitress seemingly flirting with Oliver. The sight stirred a twinge of discomfort within Issable, casting a shadow over the previously relaxed atmosphere.

As they left the café, a lingering unease enveloped Oliver and Issable. Sensing the shift in her mood, Oliver, with a gentle demeanor, broached the topic. "Why were you acting like that in the café?" he inquired, his eyes reflecting a genuine desire to understand the emotions beneath the surface.

"It's nothing," Issable replied once again, attempting to brush off the tension.

To ease the atmosphere, Oliver decided to take her to the park. They settled on a bench under the soft glow of a nearby lamp. Oliver handed her the usual cola, but Issable, still caught in her emotions, sighed and turned away.

Undeterred, Oliver kneeled before her, his charming face seeking to break through her defenses. "Come on, Issy! Tell me what happened?" he urged.

With little option left, Issable hesitated before finally opening up. "I can't stand seeing other women flirting with you," she revealed.

Oliver burst into laughter, and Issable, caught in a mix of emotions, playfully started hitting him, tears streaming down her face. "I hate you!" she declared, the words laced with a hint of playful frustration.

In the tender embrace, Oliver held Issable close, her head resting against his chest. The rhythmic beat of his heart provided a comforting backdrop to the vulnerable moment they shared. Gently, he kissed her forehead, his words a soothing promise. "I won't leave you till the end. I'm sorry for making you worry."

Feeling the sincerity in his embrace and words, Issable, with a soft sigh, reciprocated. "I am sorry," she admitted, the weight of her emotions lifting as she embraced vulnerability.

"It's okay to be jealous," Oliver reassured her, his voice filled with understanding and warmth.
