"Madeline, don't do this to me," Lance finally pleaded. "I feel guilty enough as it is."
"That's cute," Madeline giggled. "If you feel guilty about me, you should compensate me instead. Much better than having these non-stop arguments between us, right?"
"Is there no way for me to convince you to just take the offer and leave my company?" Lance tried his last shot, though he knew it was in vain.
He didn't want Madeline to go through this painful road they were about to walk on together.
"Nope, compensate me instead," Madeline replied.
Lance took a deep breath. "Then, what compensation do you want? I will give you anything."
"Anything? Are you sure?" Madeline asked.
"Yes, anything." Lance nodded seriously. He wouldn't mind giving Madeline half of the company if she wanted that.
