Ada almost choked off the burger. "M—Madeline, he genuinely favors you. I know Mr. Grant isn't the type to show too much affection. But I've never seen him so attentive and doting to his girlfriend before."
Madeline stared at Ada, who seemed to believe her own words, which made her scoff in ridicule because it only made her want to disclose the contract even more.
Ada clearly didn't know Lance had no bottom line when it came to business profit.
"Well, I can't blame you for not knowing," Madeline said. "You said that you've been working for him for a while. Your view about him must be biased."
Ada said nothing, knowing that Madeline was just trying to vent her frustration. But she didn't understand why Madeline reacted so badly.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a responsible man who would give her everything she wanted?
