If given a choice, Zheng Lin would choose to destroy this damn contract on the spot but unfortunately doing so right now would result in an instant death, or even worse being tortured for eternity.
He secretly made up his mind to destroy this organization in the future, yet on the surface, nothing extraordinary happened, he maintained the normal expression that he had before reading the contract.
He bit his finger helplessly, perhaps due to his unwillingness he accidentally bit a big chunk out of his finger. Blood began to flow out onto the floor, dyeing it red.
Seeing this Elder Xing just smiled and said nothing, he was the one responsible for this type of thing, so a lot of questionable things happened in front of his eyes not to mention this seemingly ordinary bloody thing.
Zheng Lin who was paying attention to Elder Xing out of the corner of his eye, sighed in relief when he figured that he hadn't offended Elder Xing unintentionally.
He signed his name on the contract, and the same things that happened to everybody also happened to him.
The scroll of contract that he was just holding, suddenly disappeared out of thin air. The moment it disappeared, Zheng Lin could immediately feel the changes in his soul, if he were to compare his soul before and after he signed the contract, it would be a soul that wasn't restricted by anything to a soul now that was chained with many restrictions preventing him from doing whatever he wants.
As a person who loved freedom the most, he felt uncomfortable just like a bird who got its wing cut off, his resentment toward this organization was already high from the moment that he got 'kidnapped' to the moment that he read the conditions of this scroll, had raised by yet another terrifying amounts.
Seeing it and experiencing it are two different things, only now did Zheng Lin understood this saying.
Elder Xing who saw that Zheng Lin, the last person to have his talent tested had signed his name on the contract, waved his hand and a bird flew out.
Zheng Lin who was lost in his thoughts, didn't realize the change that had happened in the outside world, not until the bird stood on his shoulder did he come back to his sense.
The bird flapped its wing along the winds and flew toward a certain place without waiting for him, according to Zheng Lin guess, the place that the bird would take him to would probably be his current resident.
Seeing that the bird kept getting farther and farther away, Zheng Lin turned to Elder Xing and expressed his thanks "sincerely" before he left to catch up with the bird.
...
Zheng Lin's legs had already turned sore from running nonstop after the bird that kept flying without even looking back.
He kept running without paying much attention to his surroundings, fearing that the bird would fly far away from within his eye sights.
Losing his only guide in this unknown environment was definitely not a thing that he would want to happen if possible.
But from time to time, he would take a quick glance around him while he stabilized his pace and breathing to avoid over-exhausting himself.
After taking a quick glance several times, he figured out that he was currently in a cave tunnel, torches were placed on both sides of the cave wall, a certain distance apart from each other to prevent darkness from enveloping the entire tunnel.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally saw the entrance that could lead to a bigger cave space, hope and happiness appeared in his dulled-black pupils.
Whether the entrance would lead him to a better situation or not, he doesn't know but this entrance represented the hope to get him out of his current situation, he could now barely feel his legs, if he had to keep running then perhaps his legs would be injured, maybe even cripple if it goes far beyond that.
During the time that he had stayed in the orphanage, he saw some kids being unable to walk, run, explore, and play with other kids and other caretakers would often spend more time taking care of them, how troublesome would that be? how boring life would be without having a usable leg?
He, who loved freedom and exploring couldn't imagine himself living, being in the same situation as them. Zheng Lin would often pray and thank god for blessing him with good health.
On the surface, while following the bird, he didn't say or express anything because these people were capable of many things that he wasn't aware of, who knew whether the bird could spy on him or not?
So he made up his mind to not talk out loud nor curse out, inside his mind he kept cursing the bird for flying so fast without taking him into consideration, the one who designed and made this tunnel for making such a long tunnel.
But at last, Zheng Lin got the hope of getting out of this situation, without waiting any longer, he took a step forward toward the entrance, leaving the tunnel behind him.
When he saw the scene in front of him, his mouth was opened without his realization, but he couldn't be bothered with it.
Because the cave that he just entered was so huge, but something that surprised him even more was the existence of houses, the cave was filled with many houses that were of the same design.
But before he could observe it closer, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a bird flying slowly yet the height that it was flying at was rather a bit low compared to before, but it didn't matter to him as much as if he were to lose it, so he quickly followed while being vigilant to his surrounding.
Eventually, the bird stopped flying when it arrived in front of a house that was of the same design, just a different number banner.
