Chapter 925 - Chapter 629: Shiller is Really a Good Person (Part 2)_2

Constantine could be seen as a master of manipulation, utilizing different aspects of himself to come out on top without any real losses, allowing him to wield powerful magic without paying any price.

But if something happens in Hell and one of his 'cards' fails, the consequences could be severe. Constantine doesn't want to be chased all around the world. Consequently, he strongly disagrees with Lucifer's plan to take Shiller's soul to Hell.

Lucifer, puzzled by Constantine's resistance, paused before saying, "… You gave the Kingdom of Dreams to… Oh my! Morpheus, he actually… hahaha! He got blown away! Well done!"

Lucifer's mood lifted instantly. Evidently, he had just witnessed Shiller's past actions in the Kingdom of Dreams and the scene where Morpheus had been blasted away by Clark.

"Can you read my memories?" Shiller asked.

Lucifer shook his head, "No, I usually don't do that; it's easy to get affected by human thoughts and do foolish things. Instead, I can directly look back in time."

"Time isn't linear for me. I can view events from any point in time if I wish. This perspective might be hard for you humans to comprehend."

Lucifer's mood visibly improved, and he didn't mind Shiller's previous disrespect. He said, "You make a valid point. My gray wings might be outdated now. After all, the drawings of me in mythology books all depict me with gray wings. People, including you, might have gotten fed up with that, right?"

"No problem, I can dye them black tomorrow. What do you think about adding some special effects? I believe iridescent might look good."

With Lucifer in a good mood, it was Shiller's turn to feel upset. He turned to Constantine, lowering his voice, "Didn't you say not to insult his wings?!?!"

Constantine leaned in and whispered back, "Lucifer has always been an odd one. Neither angels nor demons understand him."

"I quit!" Shiller exclaimed.

"I disagree!" Lucifer responded in kind.

"Why do you disagree?"

"Why do you want to quit?"

Having blurted out his desire to quit in a fit of anger, Shiller realized that he hadn't prepared a good excuse. He couldn't well admit the actual reason; that he was terrified of the overtime demanded by his job at the Green Lantern Industries.

Finally, Shiller said, "Because I want to give your feathers back."

"Oh, come on. I've already said I forgive you. You were young and didn't understand. If you like that feather, keep it. And if you can cause trouble for the dream god, I won't mind giving you another," Lucifer said expectantly.

Feathers don't really mean much to Lucifer. If he wishes, he could produce countless feathers and distribute them to everyone on Earth. He could even give wings to the entire human race if he wanted. These weren't difficult tasks for someone like him.

Just as Shiller and Lucifer were at a standstill, Bruce burst into the hospital room, followed closely by an enraged Angela. With her pistol clenched tightly in hand, she accused Bruce, "Have you lost your mind? Even if those people were murdered by Shiller, they were heinous criminals. They planned to use a mysterious chemical to contaminate the water supply of Metropolis!"

Angela pointed out the door and continued, "Every police officer in Metropolis has been dispatched to search that underground laboratory. I just got off the phone, all the evidence, including the chemical agent, has been uncovered!"

"Not only did they try to contaminate the water supply, but they also tested the drug on dozens of people. My sister died because of them. And now, you're saying that because Shiller killed these deranged criminals, he should be arrested?!"

Bruce remained expressionless, standing his ground. "I'm not defending the Owl Gang. They are indeed guilty. However, I would like Professor Shearer to come with me to the Gotham Police Department. Detective Gordon will not wrong an innocent person. He needs to verify Shearer's mental state."

Truth be told, Bruce was slightly shocked by the vicious and morbid Shiller. More than seeking legal justice, Bruce's priority was to verify Shiller's mental condition.

And if it proved impossible, he wanted to take Shiller back to Gotham instantly. Only Gotham could accommodate such a lunatic.

Shiller pointed at Bruce, then turned to Lucifer, "You see? That's why I want to resign. I've just committed a series of brutal murders. Now, I have to go to court, be tried, and then go to jail. You wouldn't want a Pope who's been in jail, would you?"

With that, he tried to stand from his hospital bed and leave with Bruce. He even signaled Bruce with his eyes, hinting that he should handcuff him immediately.

But Lucifer just scoffed, snapped his fingers, and asked, "What's he charging you with? Where is the evidence?"

Shiller glanced at Lucifer, picked up the telephone on the bedside table, and dialed the Metropolis Police Department. "Hello? I'm turning myself in. I'm the serial killer from that recent case…"
