Chapter 916 - Chapter 624: Past Like Morning Star (Part 1)_1

As Angela's scream shreds the tranquil night sky, in an instant, time stagnates, then begins to reverse.

Shiller, who had already fallen, slowly rises, the shattered glass shards twirl up from the ground and re-form into the smooth landing window. Shiller and Batman return to their confronting postures, the others exit through the door, descend the stairs, and head back to the room on the fourth floor.

Constantine stands at the forefront, facing the demon that had materialized. Kira and Angela stand behind him, firing their guns. Angela turns to Kira and says, "If I didn't mishear earlier, you seemed to have said something in Russian..."

"It would be best if you did mishear," Kira replies expressionlessly. The gun she holds is much more advanced than Angela's, equipped with a silencer specialized for agents, and the magazine has more bullets.

Noticing Angela's pistol is out of bullets, she pulls a magazine from her waist and hands it to Angela, then says, "After we get out, forget everything that happened here. It'll be better for us both."

"You're a KGB agent, aren't you?" Angela takes a deep breath. Normally, if she encountered such a spy, she would definitely try to apprehend them. But remembering what was written in her sister's letter, she could only say, "I believe I know who you are looking for. Read this letter yourself."

She handed the letter over to Kira. This was not because she had any agreement with the principles of the Soviet Union, but rather because the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency, and the KGB could not sit idly by while an uncontrollable mysterious organization was on the rise. Thus, on the matter of eliminating this organization, they shared a common interest.

Kira only hurriedly glanced at the envelope before returning the letter to Angela, gripping her pistol tightly she said, "Their sacrifice was worth it, your sister as well."

"If it weren't for them, who knows when this mysterious dark organization would have exposed themselves. We had organized a cleanup operation against this mysterious power, but they were extremely well-informed and quickly relocated, we weren't able to catch their tail."

"I don't care who you are," Angela said as she replaced her bullets, "I just want to avenge my sister."

"So do I."

After the two women reached an agreement, Kira shouted to Constantine ahead, "Hold on a little longer, the backup is almost here!"

"Don't think about any backup, that thing isn't something a normal human can handle." Constantine pulls out a cross, slices his hand with the end of the cross, murmuring some words as if he were performing a ritual.

He splashes the blood from his palm at the demon. The moment the demon's body comes into contact with the blood, it screams in horrifying pain. But then, Constantine hears a strange noise, sounding like the buzz of a helicopter's rotors.

"Take cover!" Kira alerts loudly.

The three of them rush towards the door. Just as they exit, a violent explosion erupts from the entire wall of the room facing the outer building. In an instance, four walls turn into three as the night breeze rushes in through the blown-out hole.

The rising smoke from the explosion obscures Constantine and Angela's vision. Constantine lowers his arm, coughs a few times, then looks inside the room and asks, "What the hell? What exploded?!"

But at this moment, Kira hastily charges in. There's a laser pointer on her gun. She points the red dot at the demon and shouts, "Machine guns ready! Fire here!"

Behind the thick smoke, Constantine sees a helicopter hovering in front of the hole. The helicopter's machine guns unleash a torrent of bullets onto the monster, forcing the black demon to retreat continuously.

Due to the overwhelming firepower of the helicopter's machine guns, Constantine and Angela need to continue moving forward and take cover at the corner. Amid the noise of the gunfire, Angela shouts, "Didn't you say normal weapons are useless against him?!!"

"Is this a normal weapon?!!!" Constantine yells back.

Suddenly, a loud "bang" is heard, followed by "clattering", "whizzing" sounds. Constantine and Angela are covering their ears, and Constantine grits his teeth and says, "These Russians are crazy! How dare they use heavy firepower on American soil?!"

"Why wouldn't they?!" Angela shouts, "There's nothing in this world they wouldn't dare do!"

Just then, the wall of the room closest to the corridor also collapses from an explosion, but this provides the black demon an escape route. The limbs that were just condensed for attacking are now needed for escape.

Constantine extends his bloody palm, on which a bright array lights up. He stands in front of the fleeing monster, trying to stop it.

However, the monster doesn't harm him. It's the bullets from the machine guns behind him that sent him scrambling for cover.

"Get out of the way!" Kira and the other KGB agents each hold a big gun. They gesture towards Constantine and Angela, then say, "Don't let it escape, let's chase it down!"

Constantine and Angela press themselves against the wall, watching helplessly as the black demon is chased by a group of KGB agents wielding heavy firepower down the entire corridor, then scurrying up the stairs.
