Chapter 873 - Chapter 593: Who is the Bat, Who is the Cat (Part 3)_2

You know, even the original Batman, that mature, dark man, wouldn't be so obsessive as to turn the whole of Gotham into something like this.

Or rather, this is not obsession, but a little stupidity, the original Batman wouldn't commit such foolish acts. Though he might be quite fixated, at least he's clear-headed. He definitely is aware that it's impossible to prevent all crime by doing this.

In other words, this isn't just a mature version of Gotham, something must have occurred that changed the course of life of this so-called Bat Cat. And the most significant change that Shiller notices now is that Alfred Cat isn't by Bat Cat's side.

Hence, he went out of his way to draw Bat Cat out, and then dispatched himself to investigate the former Bat Cat Manor.

As he found no clues in the upper structure, Shiller could only search for the entrance to the basement. He recalled that there should be a basement in the Wayne Manor, but this manor's structure was different from Wayne Manor. Thus, Shiller spent quite some time before he found the entrance to the basement.

The moment he began to descend the entrance, he heard a slight sound. Granted the keen hearing of a cat, Shiller quickly climbed up the stairs he had just descended and rapidly darted into the adjoining room.

Then he saw two cats emerge from the basement. One was an old grey cat, frail and exhausted, its tail missing a section. That was probably Alfred Cat.

More importantly, he was wearing a collar, a clear sign that it was a monitoring device from Bat Cat. However, it had now been damaged and was spewing sparks.

It seemed that Alfred Cat must have just been rescued from the basement by another cat, but what baffled Shiller the most was the fact that the cat who had rescued Alfred was now walking beside Alfred.

He was green and was currently smiling.

Looking east from Bat Cat's Manor, crossing through the central battlefield where Bat Cat and Bane were locked in combat, you would arrive at the Gotham Bank located at the most eastern point.

In contrast to the real Gotham, all the buildings in this Cat City Gotham are not in their original locations. However, it's not hard to notice that this bank present in Cat City Gotham, although originally not a bank, seems to have been remodeled from some other architecture, still preserving some details prior to the transformation.

Observing these details, Batman concluded that it might have previously been the Gotham Police Department. On lifting the metal covering, bullet holes and scarring could be seen on the old wall behind.

Batman walked deeper into the bank, deducing the rooms where clues could likely be found, based on the specs of the buildings on both sides.

He noticed that all the rooms on the ground floor had been transformed into bank offices, yet there was one extraordinarily well-hidden door leading downwards.

After Batman opened that door, he heightened his alertness. As he descended the stairs, sure enough, the style of the rooms underground was entirely different from those above. It looked like an archive room, still preserving some undamaged documents. Batman walked to the desk and climbed onto the chair, scrutinizing the text on those documents.

The cats in Gotham, of course, have their own script. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to develop such a civilization. But the problem was, Batman couldn't understand their language.

But it wasn't a big issue. Given the significant number of documents here, combined with the signs that Batman had observed earlier, he could absolutely decipher some of the content directly.

Under the cool lighting, Batman's fur was illuminated, reflecting a blue hue. He stared intently at the text, his blue eyes glowing with a peculiar radiance.

Meanwhile, the battle in central Gotham was in full swing. Or rather, Bat Cat was getting clobbered by Clark.

No matter which world's Batman, they were all pretty feeble in direct combat, let alone the fact that the opponent Bat Cat was up against was Cat Superman.

No need to mention that feline combat differed from human combat; the focus for Cat Superman was on 'superman', not necessarily 'cat'. He possessed all the abilities of Superman, and apart from the necessity to limit his exertion, for fear of causing the dream to collapse, he was practically invincible.

Clark had no intentions of learning to attack like a cat. Just by hovering in the air and releasing beams from his eyes, he could force Bat Cat to dash around chaotically. Even if he didn't extend his claws to scratch, a punch from him was enough to send Bat Cat flying far off.

Finally, Bat Cat, who had been brutally beaten, couldn't take it anymore. He activated a controller on his neck, and in an instant, a massive rumble echoed from the ground. The walls and foundations of countless buildings began to change and combine into a gigantic mechanical monster.

Even a normal-sized human, when compared to this colossal Defensive Mechanical Cat, would seem insignificantly small, let alone a couple of ordinary cats.

While the machine was assembling, they scattered about in fear, while Clark was forced to elevate his position to observe the battlefield.

Bat Cat maneuvered his wings and flew above the giant mechanical cat's head. Clark's expression also became somewhat stern. Under the restrictive condition, confronting such a massive creature would be no easy feat. He yelled below, "Work together! Aim for its legs!"

A round moon hung high in the sky as the terrifying mechanical beast ascended the rooftops. The sights of a few cat shadows appeared tiny in comparison. All the cats knew a tough battle was imminent.

But at that moment, a cat's shadow soared from the rim of the moon. Its streamlined body conveyed the unique elegance of feline creatures.

He landed on the shoulder of the giant robot, swiftly and easily made his way to its head, which, to a cat, seemed like a small plaza.

Two identical blue-eyed black cats stood off on the head of the enormous robot under the moonlight.

"Who are you? Why are you here?!" Bat Cat cautiously backtracked, staring at the cat who bore a striking resemblance to him. Suddenly, as if he had remembered something, he exclaimed, "You are the rat that slipped into the sewer previously, aren't you?!"

"You're the rat." Batman advanced two steps further. His response was not to tease Bat Cat, instead, it was stating a fact. He flared his nostrils, sensing a familiar scent. It didn't come off as a surprise, he retorted, "You, like the cat that died outside the bank, are all rats."

"What are you talking about?" Bat Cat involuntarily stepped back, the immense pressure from the opposite cat felt like an infinite tide of darkness, assailing him.

"I became a bat because it signifies the fear in my heart."

"And you, you become a bat because someone hopes Gotham will be ruled by winged rats, not sharp-clawed cats."

"Because they fear cats."

Just then, a wave of demented laughter echoed from afar; a green cat jumped atop of the robot's head.

Exactly when Bat Cat's gaze was diverted by the Joker Cat, in the moonlight, a shadow, like a sharp arrow, shot out in a flash.

Batman lunged forward; his figure eclipsing the moonlight, casting a shadow on the roof of the building, shaped like a bat flying through the dark night sky.

Just when all the cats believed Batman was launching an attack on the green Joker Cat, he lunged forward, biting Bat Cat's neck instead.

A chilling, strange shriek resounded like the utmost eerie cry of a night owl in the dark forest.

Feathers floated against the backdrop of the moon, rotating several times in the night sky before gently settling down on the ground.

The green cat sniffed and leaned in for a closer look at the feather, it pulled a disgusted expression and commented:

"Ha, still reeks of that nauseating bird shit."
