Chapter 755 - Chapter 516: Exploring Shiller's Past Journey (Part 3)_1

Seeing that the surrounding Shillers seemed to have no intention of leaving, Osiris finally spoke:

"...The scale, it's all about the scale used for the trial! And the feather used to determine whether the trial has passed, that is the symbol of a great existence..."

"I once made a deal with a mysterious existence in the dark. When I place the feather on the scale and put the hearts of the faithful on the other end of the scale, if the heart is heavier than the feather, he will meet death. But if his heart is lighter than the feather, then death will not accept him, and he can naturally resurrect."

Shiller understood the meaning of Osiris. In simple terms, resurrection is not truly bringing a dead person back to life, but by leveraging the power of death from the five great creators in Marvel.

As is well known, all things in the Marvel World go to the Realm of Death when they die.

And Osiris, through a deal with Death, intercepted the souls of the believers who were on their way to the Realm of Death and conducted a so-called trial. If the trial did not pass, the soul would continue to the Realm of Death, effectively meaning this person was dead. But if the trial passed, the soul would be rejected by the Realm of Death, and being refused by death means that he is still alive, so, this person would come back to life.

In other words, the resurrected believers are not reborn, but have dodged death.

"I tell my followers that as long as they are devout enough and fight hard for me, they have the chance to resurrect after death. In this way, they will be more courageous and fearless in the face of death, and will kill more enemies on the battlefield. This will please the mysterious entity known as Death, and that's why we made a deal."

"And the so-called trial process is also that mysterious entity's judgement to see whether my followers can cause more death after resurrection. If Death thinks the follower can do this, it will not accept his soul, allowing him to return to the world and generate more deaths."

Shiller nodded, indicating that he understood. This was not unexpected, anyone who deals with death is like this. The ultimate goal of death is only to have more death.

The Valhalla possessed by Asgard is the same, Odin will only allow the bravest warriors to enter Valhalla, and so-called bravest warriors are those who kill the most enemies on the battlefield, these people being resurrected can naturally bring more death.

"If you've struck a deal with Death, then why can all the believers of the Egyptian Pantheon be resurrected?" Shiller asked.

"I have no choice!" Osiris looked very desperate, he said, "After I completed the deal, I found that he didn't just want my followers to bring more death, the entire Egyptian Pantheon was cursed by him! All the believers of the Egyptian Gods will undergo this judgement!"

Shiller suddenly showed a smile, as if mocking, he said:

"I remember that in the myth, this trial process is for distinguishing between sinners and good people. The heart of a sinner will be heavier than a feather, so they won't be able to resurrect."

"But now it seems that it's the heart of a sinner that will be lighter than a feather. Because Death needs the most vicious sinners to bring him more deaths..."

"Isn't it such an irony? Just like all the trials mentioned by gods, determining who is bad and who is good. But you are not humans to start with, why do you think you have the authority to set the standard of good and evil for human beings?"

After the white-coated Shiller finished, he didn't care about the Osiris who was torn apart by the Shillers, just turned around and walked back, returning to the big ship docked by the oasis.

Pulling back the door curtain, stepping into the room, the first thing Shiller saw was the scale on the table, and indeed there was a feather at the other end of the scale, looking very light, as if it would float up with just a touch.

Shiller walked over, picked up the scale, and just then, footsteps came from outside the door. He turned around to see the plump Hippo Goddess walk in, she seemed unaware of anyone in the room, let out a cry of surprise, and then turned to leave, but Shiller stopped her.

"My Goddess, could you do me a favor?"

"Of course, what do you need?" The Hippo Goddess walked over and asked Shiller, who said to her, "Since you've been a guide on this ship, you should know the process of the trial, right? Could you please perform this process on me?"

The Hippo Goddess widened her eyes and said, "Did I hear that right? You want to take the trial? But why? You have already got this ship!"

"I'm just curious about the process. Can you help me take out my heart and put it on the scale?"

"This..." The Hippo Goddess hesitated for a moment, but seeing Shiller's determined gaze, she walked over and said, "Alright, that's not difficult."

Saying this, her hand reached into Shiller's chest and grabbed, a crystal-like heart appeared in her hand, then she placed that heart on the scale.

The Hippo Goddess explained to Shiller, "Actually, the more you appear, the more hearts I should take out and put on the scale together. But given the current situation, if I do that, I might miss the next few thousand years of work, so..."

Shiller showed understanding, then watched the scale. Soon, his shocked eyes widened because the tray containing his heart rose up slowly.

Yes, the feather, light as if it was about to fly, pressed down on the scale, causing Shiller's heart to rise up.

"Is this thing broken????" Shiller asked with full of doubt.

Just as he was about to step forward and knock on the scale, hurried footsteps came from outside the door. With a "slap", the door curtain was lifted, Stark and Steve entered the room one after another, and outside the door stood Khonsu who had guided them here.

Shiller was taken aback by Stark's and Steve's arrival, he had never imagined that the two would come looking for him here. He had assumed they would be out there, crying over his corpse.

However, after a moment of surprise, Shiller disregarded them. He had a more interesting 'toy' before him; of course, he would choose to explore the secret of the balance first.

Shiller walked over to the other side of the table, looking at the lifted side of the heart; he speculated that probably because he had been divided into many personalities, his heart wasn't heavy enough. He then called over two personalities and had the Hippo Goddess place their hearts on the tray, but the tray remained motionless, showing no signs of descending.

Shiller tried numerous combinations of personalities; some with intense killing instincts, some with none whatsoever. After exhausting every permutation, none were heavier than the feather, which meant that no matter what combination, Shiller could pass the trial and resurrect.

Shiller sighed. Realizing that following the rules wouldn't work, he decided to use some external force. So, he reached out one hand and pushed down on the tray that held his heart. When he focused, he noticed the tray loosening up a bit, showing signs of descending.

Shiller changed to a position that gave him more leverage. He lifted the balance to the edge of the table and pushed hard on one end, grinding it downwards.

In the silence, Shiller heard an ear-piercing, metallic "squeak" noise. Just as he was about to make his heart heavier than the feather, suddenly he saw a pale, slender hand appear on the tray holding the feather, pushing it downwards too.

Shiller opened his eyes wide, upon seeing the situation, he clenched his teeth and continued pushing his tray downwards, and that hand also exerted force, pushing the feather's tray downwards too.

To put it from another perspective, Shiller wanted his heart to be heavier than the feather, to fail the trial, but the person opposite wanted him to pass the trial.

After a long struggle, Shiller was the first to give in. He released his hand, and with a loud "clang," the tray holding the feather hit the table hard. The tray with Shiller's heart flung high, sending the hearts on the tray flying.

Shiller huffed for breath, staring angrily at the balance. He had been in this world for quite a while and finally met his match?

He disregarded the incredulous stares from the others and began to use various methods, intending to push down his end of the balance.

The point it had gotten to; principles weren't that important anymore, the main thing was he just wanted to win.

Shiller busily tinkered away for quite a while, Stark and Steve just couldn't find an opportunity to step in. They couldn't fathom just what Shiller was up to.

In the end, after all of Shiller's efforts, there was no progress. He threw his tools hand somewhat deflatedly to one side, put his hands on his waist and looked at the balance, saying, "Death, you're there, aren't you?"

"Honestly, I never thought you could be this tough. If I had brought the house, I would've shown you that unity is strength…"

"Whatever, can you come out for a bit? I have something to discuss with you…"

"Death! Death! Are you there?! Answer me!"

Just as Shiller was yelling, Stark stepped forward and place a hand on his shoulder, "Shiller, calm down!"

"I know, I know, you've had some terrible experiences before, perhaps you have many regrets you wish to correct, but this method won't work…"

Stark sighed, a trace of emotion in his voice, "There were countless nights when I wished for a method to revive my parents, how wonderful that would be…"

"I even took actual steps to that end. I started looking up all information related to revival; I even thought about creating a time machine, to go back to the day before they died, then have them stay at home."

"I think anyone would have such thoughts. When their loved ones leave them, they must think, wouldn't it be great if I could go back in time or if I could revive them…"

Stark covered his eyes with his other hand and said, "But I found out that as I chased after this fantasy, I lost even more, I didn't sleep, drank heavily, and hallucinated about reuniting with them. But in the end, I ended up with nothing…"

Stark looked into Shiller's eyes and said with conviction:

"If you devised such an intricate and interconnected plan, just for the purpose of reviving your parents, then I want to tell you…"

The brown depths of Stark's eyes shimmered with golden rays as he said:

"The love and affection you once lacked, not just them, but we can give you that too."

Shiller looked into Stark's eyes, opened his mouth slightly, and asked:

"Thank you, I'm really touched, but…"

"What in the world are you talking about?"
