Chapter 703 - Chapter 480: A Plethora of Talents in Arkham! (Part 3)_2

At that moment, the phone in the Twelve Families' Mansion began to ring continuously. Alberto's voice came from the other end.

"Everyone, gather trucks to collect the new weapons from the cold storage unit in the East District. Be warned, the Freeze Gun is in its early phase of small-scale production and is still an experimental weapon, strict adherence to the user manual is necessary…"

The Mob bosses didn't hear the latter part of the conversation. Their minds were completely fixated on the words "new weapons".

The rumbling of truck engines echoed once again over Gotham, street lamps sequentially lit, all warehouse lights shone brightly. Night-time Gotham became more radiant, like a forgotten pearl resting on the East Coast.

At this time, the battle between Green Lantern and Clark had reached a fever pitch. The Green Lantern corps suddenly found that the man in front of them, who claimed to be an Earthling, was terrifyingly powerful.

In reality, Clark could have quickly defeated them. But as it was night and there wasn't sufficient sunlight, he was concerned the commotion might disturb the neighbouring cities, so he held back his strength.

Just as he was considering using his stronger power to subdue them all at once, a blue light streaked through his field of view. Then 'pop', a Green Lantern frozen into an ice block fell straight down.

Clark looked down to see that the block of ice had shattered upon impact, but the Green Lantern didn't suffer any injuries, he just flew up again.

But in an instant, the 'whizz' sounds kept ringing out, countless blue beams flew towards that group of green targets.

Many Green Lanterns initially thought these were ordinary bullets, not even intending to dodge, choosing to resist with Green Lantern energy. But the instant the bullets made contact, they were frozen into blocks of ice and then dropped.

Deputy Carol was unfortunately hit, but halfway down, he used his Green Lantern Ring's ability to pass through obstacles and emerged out from the block of ice.

The other Green Lanterns followed suit, swiftly flying out from inside the ice blocks after being hit.

At first, they were dismissive of this new weapon brought out by the human race, but they soon discovered the deceitfulness of the humans.

Clark had a biological field, so he could prevent bullets from touching him directly. His biological field's range was extensive, able to stop bullets meters away from him. But the Green Lanterns couldn't do the same.

The range of the Green Lantern energy radiation was limited, only able to block bullets within its range. However, the freezing range was larger, so if they were just grazed by it, they would get frozen.

After being frozen, they had to use their ring's ability to phase through objects to escape the ice. However, this ability also required energy consumption. The bullets from the Freeze Gun formed a net of firepower that continuously froze them, forcing them to repeatedly use energy to break free.

Some might think they could avoid it by flying, but remember, Clark was watching them like a hawk.

Not only could Clark fly faster than them, but he could also shoot deadly rays from his eyes. The moment the Green Lantern shield came into contact with these rays, its energy would quickly deplete. The Green Lanterns had no air superiority – their maneuvering space was extremely limited.

Back and forth like this, their ring energy was rapidly depleted. Yet, there was no opening in the current battle for them to teleport away and replenish their energy. Carol was gasping for breath before saying: "Quick! Call for backup! Connect to headquarters, I need to call for reinforcements!"

Inside the Green Light Corps Headquarters, the Legion leader, Tylenol, listened solemnly to the incoming messages from the communicator. He immediately told a Green Lantern beside him: "Gather squad three and four, squad five..."

"Sir, squad four and five were previously dispatched by you to patrol the surrounding sectors."

"How about squad six?"

"They joined the team hunting Sinestro and are still in Sector 1020…"

Tylenol's face dropped, he was aware of the situation. Ever since Sinestro betrayed the corps, the reputation of Green Lantern suffered a significant blow. Furthermore, Sinestro's havoc in various sectors forced him to dispatch most of the headquarters' manpower for maintenance.

Previously, having twelve squads of Green Lanterns in the headquarters was sufficient, but now, majority of the squads were dispatched by him for letter delivery or patrol missions, leaving only a few rookie squads whose combat power was clearly insufficient.

Tylenol slammed the table and said: "Recruit all personnel with combat power left, besides the regular security personnel, to form one team. I will lead the team to Earth and see what's going on."

"Well, but the security of the headquarters…"

"The headquarters is located at the center of all sectors. There are at least dozens of squads in the surrounding sectors. Who could invade here? Even on the Oa Star, there are comprehensive defence measures - outsiders simply can't get in."

The Green Lantern thought about it, nodded, and felt that the legion commander's words made sense. Thus, he saluted and went to prepare.

Right after Tylenol led almost all the Green Lanterns of the headquarters away, a burst of light flashed in the teleportation chamber, and Shiller's figure appeared on the teleportation platform, holding Pikachu in his arms.

Shiller looked left and right, then discovered the huge spiral structure outside the floor-to-ceiling window. He activated the dispersal function of the Green Lantern, directly reaching the top of the spiral structure, descended the stairs, and casually reached the energy hall.

He did come across security personnel along the way. Shiller, glowing green, walked past them expressionlessly. Whenever he met someone, he simply nodded. None of them knew why he was there. The Green Lanterns in charge of security thought he was an engineer sent to repair the energy.

Upon arriving at the energy hall, Shiller calmly closed the door, then looked at the giant Lantern Furnace in the center of the hall and muttered: "Where is the entrance?"

"Upstairs, it must be upstairs." Pikachu, in Shiller's embrace, pointed with his tiny paws at the opening in the ceiling oozing green light. "Did you forget? The last time we entered it from the top of the yellow Lantern Furnace, all these toilets look the same."

Shiller looked up and found that Pikachu was right, there did seem to be an opening at the top of the Lantern Furnace.

After Shiller flew up, he looked inside, and then… tossed Pikachu in.

After he finished tossing, he clapped his hands satisfactorily and said:

"Now, the Yellow Lantern is once again the Green Lantern Corps' weakness."

At this moment, Aisha watching the fireworks from her bedroom window saw numerous green lights descending from the sky. She pointed out the window and said: "Wowowow?"

Shiller, who had just teleported back, bent down slightly to lift Aisha and said:

"What's that? That's a lot of Chewing Rods!"
