Chapter 700 - Chapter 478: A Plethora of Talents in Arkham! (Part 1)_2

The lead Fisherman was burning with rage, he raised his gun and roared, "Ghosts are fighting back! Punish them! Kill them! Send them to hell!!"

All of the mob members were exceptionally furious, pressing step by step, not caring about the loss of manpower at all, only wanting to cause maximum damage to the other side.

The just landed Green Lanterns hadn't even figured it out yet. They were under such fierce attack that despite their strong green lantern energy, the now opposing mob not only outnumbered them, but also outgunned them. The Green Lanterns were forced to retreat in the face of overwhelming fire.

But even so, the mob was not enough for the Fisherman. He fired his gun while telling the people behind him, "Send some guys upstairs and call everyone down. Also, send a message to the North District, we need more deadly firepower!"

"Cobblepot has already sent people!" A voice rang out from behind, he said, "Young master Falcone has already called the godfather, the support is coming soon!"

As they continued to attack, the Green Lanterns finally came to their senses and stopped wreaking chaos, instead, they began to launch organized attacks.

The hospital corridor fire was another kind of alleyway fight with much smaller space. There was virtually no elevation change, so many human weapons were unusable, because both guns and grenades could cause friendly fire.

The advantage of the Green Lanterns was that the green lantern energy had no friendly fire. Whether it was the energy shockwave, energy weapons or energy shield, they were all effective against people who didn't have green lantern energy. Therefore, they didn't have to consider the arrangement of gunfire lines, they could simply output a great deal of power straight ahead.

Soon, the situation began to heat up, leading to the Green Lanterns gaining the upper hand. The mob's line began to waver, then gradually retreated.

It was at this moment that a light descended from the sky and Constantine landed in front of the Gotham Gang.

His golden hair moved without the wind, his trench coat fluttered. Both hands flashed with dazzling light. With a wave of his arm, a huge silver shield appeared in front of everyone.

He swung his hands again, drawing smooth arcs in front of him. A complex magic array lit up under his feet. Several magic missiles flew out of his hand, penetrating the green lantern energy barrier, and falling into the middle of the Green Lanterns' formation.

"Bind!"

As Constantine's deep voice rang out, the magic missiles turned into chains and began to wrap around the Green Lanterns. Carol, not wanting to be outdone, turned the green energy solid, transforming it into a sword. With a few blows, she split open the chains. The rest of the Green Lanterns followed suit, slashing through the chains one after another.

But at that moment, Constantine revealed a malicious smile. The severed chain fragments turned into even more magic missiles, bombarding the Green Lanterns like a sudden snowstorm from above, forcing them to raise their arms to cover their eyes.

The mob members squeezed the trigger again, unleashing a hail of bullets. The scattered attention of the Green Lanterns caused a hole in their shield.

With a "boom", the ceiling of the third floor collapsed, raising a cloud of dust and smoke, rendering the situation at the end of the corridor obscure and confusing.

With their vision lost, the mob members could only slow down their firepower. Constantine waved his hand and a few tornadoes flew out beside him, blowing away the dust.

The successive attacks made it impossible for the Green Lanterns to fully maintain their shield as the hole in it closed very slowly. Carol turned back and shouted, "Focus! Use the power of your will! Heretics and bandits fear our divine light! The Green Lantern shines forever, the eternally glowing."

"The Green Lantern shines forever, the eternally glowing!"

As they were chanting, the Fisherman on the other side asked confusedly, "What are they shouting? What heretics and bandits?"

"They're calling us heretics and bandits???"

"They are ghosts, we are humans, and they dare to call us heretics and bandits?? Have today's ghosts become so arrogant?!"

"Enough talk, shoot!!"

At this moment, green light shone brightly, casting a faint green over the entire corridor. The Green Lanterns strengthened their resolve, so their power increased. They all flew into the air, launching various energy beams at the mob.

Deputy Carol was at the forefront, standing mid-air, all bullets and explosives stopping within half a meter of him, frozen in space. His low roar echoed through the corridor, carrying an unmatched power:

"For justice!"

The light grew stronger and stronger, a rich green light congealed on his right forearm. He then reached out his hand, aiming at the gangsters in the corridor.

The originally tiny energy beam, with a 'hum', became incredibly large. Yet, the expected scene of everyone in it being blown away and scattered did not occur.

Constantine raised both hands, magical brilliance enveloping his entire body. Once again the magic array under his feet expanded, its color changing from silver to a wickedly deep dark red.

Magma rolled out from the center of the array, but disappeared in an instant, like delicate foam touched or an ephemeral illusion. At the same time, a tall figure stood up, breaking through the ceiling of two floors. It was a Hell Demon of Hatred, its body surging with evil energy.

A wicked, deafening voice echoed in the corridor: "Who...has summoned me..."

Constantine briskly swung his arm, slapped the demon on its calf, and said, "It's me, shut up, beat them!"

"Damn Constantine, how come you're not dead yet?! When are you planning to die?!"

The towering Hate Demon lowered its head, its large vertical pupils focussed on Constantine. Just then, the green energy beam smacked it, the demon waved its hand, igniting a fire shield, which instantaneously zipped along the corridor.

When the flames passed Carol, the Green Light Energy defended him against the heat and erosion of dark energy, but ignited curse runes all around him.

Such runes did not possess aggressiveness, but it meant he was marked by the demon. Anyone who could communicate with demons could find him through such a mark, and because the mark had no force, the Green Light Energy seemed unable to dispel it.

The Hate Demon shifted its gaze from Constantine to Carol, it moved towards Carol while saying, "Constantine, you better prepare the sacrifice quickly…"

Having said, it exhaled fire from its mouth and struck Carol with its magma-surging claws. Carol didn't back down, his green shield lit up, and the energy shockwave hit the Hate demon's eyes.

Just when the Green Lanterns were locked in combat with the Hate Demon, a mad laugher echoed from the hole where the ceiling had collapsed before. They heard a high-pitched voice shout:

"Here comes Joker's surprise! Cheer for this!"

"Boom!!!!!"

After the loud noise, the main building of Arkham Mental Hospital, completely collapsed.

Joker could be considered an expert in destructing various buildings with explosives. Even the robust and defensive buildings constructed by the Wayne Family couldn't withstand Joker's explosives, let alone an old and battered mental hospital?

The moment after Joker's laughter, Constantine had teleported everyone away, so they appeared beside a highway at some distance from the mental hospital.

Looking at the slowly collapsing building, Constantine laughed inappropriately.

Soon, he found no reason to laugh, because, in the dark night sky of Gotham, a meteor-like light crawled over from the edge of the horizon. Consequently, it grew larger in view, the trail of the missile illuminating the entire sky like daylight.

In Shiller's mansion, Merkel had arranged two guest rooms for their young guests. Dick, who was just about to sleep, felt the floor shake under him.

He looked back curiously, shocked, his eyes wide open. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window of the bedroom, on the city skyline, a huge mushroom cloud had risen into the sky after the explosion.
