Chapter 616 - Chapter 415: Suspicion in the Metropolis (Part 1)_1

Many may still remember, during his last fight against Fear Joker in the dream space, Shiller used the properties of the lantern rings to magnify certain emotions in the hearts of individuals like Victor and Gordon, thereby attracting many colored lantern rings.

Just as it was previously stated, because this battle was happening in a dream, those summoned rings found that the hosts they intended to contract with were unconscious. During the bonding process, if they couldn't get a positive response from the person, they wouldn't leave right away.

So, the rings abandoned their physical forms, allowing their energy to enter the hosts' bodies to try and stir up their consciousness. Consequently, they ended up in the dream space where the battle against Fear Joker was taking place, providing energy for the people.

However, while the rings' energy had transported into the dream, their physical forms were still outside. Deprived of their energy, these rings turned into ordinary metal rings, unable to return to their respective Lantern Corps.

After the fight, when those who woke up found colorful metal rings beside them, they were already informed by Shiller. Thus, they collected these rings and gave them to Shiller.

Shiller had no particular interest in the rings. In his view, the so-called "Emotional Spectrum" was similar to explaining the truths of the world through plain materialism. Therefore, he put the rings in a box and gave it to Batman.

As everyone knows, once something enters the Batcave as a collectible, not even the king could take it back.

As Batman poured the rings from the box onto the table, Hal's eyes nearly popped out. Having worn the Green Lantern Ring for so long, he could clearly distinguish that these were not fake memorabilia, but genuine lantern rings.

"Where did you get all these??? You...." Hal stuttered, looking at Batman as if he was a bizarre collector.

Seeing the multicolored rings, but no green color, or rather, the only color missing among the many was green, Hal felt as if he had discovered something crucial.

Initially, when he battled against Fear Joker, Hal was doubtful because the monster's head slightly resembled that of Batman's. But, due to the intense fight, he did not have enough time to ponder over this. However, could all of this be part of Batman's plot?

Create a monster intentionally to attract the Yellow Lantern, summon various colored rings, absorb their energy, leave their rings as trophies, intentionally transform the Yellow Lantern Beast Parallax into a human, lure him over, and then trap him...

Hal tightened his grip on his trench coat. Despite the coat's usual thickness and warmth, despite the roaring fire in Wayne Manor's grand fireplace that crackled as it burned the wood, he could not feel the slightest trace of warmth.

Batman scattered the rings and asked Hal about the rings' principles and the history of the Lantern Corps. Unfortunately, Hal didn't know much about these things. From the current perspective, Hal just happened to acquire the Green Lantern energy by accident, and didn't have a deep connection with the Corps, nor did he have any vital information.

"I'm going to do a component analysis on these rings," Batman said without any expression, looking at Hal. Hal quickly responded, "I'll stay here, my ring is still on that kid's finger."

"Besides, I wouldn't want him to come to any harm, so I'll watch over him until he recovers."

Batman ignored Hal's assurance. He only needed an attitude. Hal without a ring was just an ordinary man. If Batman disagreed, he could never leave Wayne Manor.

But judging from the attitude of Hal, he seemed to be a mature and wise man, which meant that, for Batman, he still had his uses.

A few minutes later, in the underground laboratory of Wayne Manor, Bruce, now out of his bat suit, was fiddling with a gadget, trying to analyze the composition of the ring metal scientifically.

The underground lab at Wayne Manor may not be as large as the newly built Batcave, but it was equally equipped. And for some unknown reason, Batman found it easier to concentrate here when dealing with complex experimental data.

Although it was not far from Wayne Manor upstairs and he could hear some noise from above - nothing like the secluded and quiet Batcave in the suburbs - Bruce still preferred to be here when he needed to contemplate certain issues.

In the somewhat dimly lit lab, Bruce's fingers were on the control panel. The cold light emanating from the screen rippled like waves in a pond. The abrupt coldness when skin touched the button allowed his mind to focus sharper.

"Click, click, click." The sound of dress shoes clattering on the metal staircase echoed from behind Bruce. Without turning his head, he heard a familiar voice, "Sir, the dawn has broken. You should go back and rest for a while."

Bruce's hand, about to press the next button, ceased momentarily, while the data on the screen continued to change.
