Two minutes later, the immaculately dressed Merkel appeared in Shiller's bedroom. Shiller was still in his pajamas, pouring himself a drink while saying, "Make a phone call to Wayne Manor for me…"
Merkel was momentarily at a loss for words. He wasn't sure whether the emphasis was on "Wayne Manor," "making a phone call," or the current situation. He glanced up at the wall clock, which read 3:30 in the morning.
His brain, just stirred from sleep, was not enough for Merkel to sort out the logic. He even wondered if Shiller was expressing dissatisfaction for his work mistakes?
However, given Shiller's serious expression, Merkel had no choice but to go downstairs and pick up the phone beside the staircase.
One Hand rested on the phone, which was ringing non-stop. Alfred stood near the phone table, lifted the receiver and said:
"...Oh, really?...Professor Rodriguez heard Miss Elsa screaming?...Yes, I am sorry. Did we disturb his rest?"
"Yes, she's fine. You know children at this age are prone to nightmares, especially when their father isn't home..."
As he spoke, Alfred's gaze fell on Bruce who stood near the sofa. He was still in his bat suit, but given the current situation, he wasn't planning on pretending otherwise.
Dick, engulfed in green light, sat across the sofa, occasionally twitching as if trying to suppress the urge to teleport himself into a wall. Elsa continued to cry, despite not shedding a tear; it seemed as though she would never tire of it.
Beside the phone table, Alfred held the phone, continuously advising Merkel about parental education and the importance of parental companionship.
Batman couldn't believe his headache was worse than when dealing with malevolent criminals.
So, where was the Green Lantern, or rather Hal, who caused all this trouble, now?
He was currently tied to a chair next to the sofa.
Whether a novice Green Lantern with the Lamp's abilities could best a rookie Batman wasn't known. But without his Green Lantern abilities, Hal was definitely no match for Batman, so he found himself tied to a chair, watching Dick with a look of despair.
Batman thought the best solution to the current situation was to deal with Dick. He turned to Dick and asked, "Can't you take it off?"
"It" referred to the Green Lantern ring. Dick looked at his hand and responded, "No, I can't. I've tried. No matter how hard I tug, I can't take it off..."
"Useless. The Green Lantern Ring has a safety lock. If it fell off so easily, wouldn't it be easily sabotaged during battle?"
As soon as Hal finished this sentence, he found Batman staring at him. Understanding Batman's meaning, he explained, "Parallax...your daughter is too unusual. She must have some special way to control the Green Lantern Ring. I've never seen a Lantern's ring forcibly removed..."
Batman turned his gaze back to Elsa. The moment he looked at her, Elsa suddenly stopped crying and extended her arms. Batman reluctantly walked over, picked her up, and even though Elsa was shouting, he couldn't understand what she wanted.
Dick translated, seeming to understand: "It seems like she wants me to learn how to control this power, but I can't. It completely ignores me. Oh, here it comes again!"
With a "whoosh", Dick disappeared and then reappeared in the adjacent dining room, knocking over a bunch of tables and chairs.
As before, the Lantern's energy protected his body. The only victim was the beautiful and spacious dining room in Wayne Manor, which now lay in shambles.
Batman didn't mind the damage to the house, but he noticed that the teleportation distance seemed to be getting longer. If this continued, no one would know if Dick would be teleported directly into the cosmos...Batman looked at Hal again.
Hal shivered, then said, "I can promise you that while this power exists, he himself will not come to any harm."
"When I first obtained this power, I tried jumping from a high altitude after flying up with a test plane. No matter how high I fell from, I remained uninjured."
"Where is the farthest he can teleport to?"
Hal glanced at Dick and said, "I think the Lantern Ring may be stuck in a logical error, only rigidly executing my last command."
"At the same time, the Lantern Ring's safety lock may have detected that its current user is not its master. Generally, in such situations, the Ring would automatically return to the Green Lantern Headquarters..."
"The logical error and safety lock together could potentially keep this kid teleporting constantly until he arrives at the Green Lantern Corps Headquarters..."
The moment Hal finished his sentence, he felt the temperature in the room drop sharply.
"Oh, wait!" Hal immediately tried to rectify the situation. "You can try to have Elsa remove the ring from his hand, just like she did to me."
Batman looked down at Elsa, who was biting her finger, seemingly pretending not to understand. Batman continued to stare at her until finally, Elsa could no longer endure. She jumped down from Batman's arms and "thud thud thud" ran in front of Dick.
But it was as if the Lantern Ring sensed something - once Elsa approached, it teleported Dick away. Even though Elsa was quick, her legs couldn't quite catch up to the speed of teleportation, so she could never reach Dick.
After a while, Elsa seemed a bit tired and stopped to catch her breath. Alfred quickly put down the phone and walked over. He picked up Elsa and said, "Miss Elsa has had enough exercise for today. Or rather to say, for a child her age, it's a bit excessive. She should go back to sleep now."
With that, he carried Elsa upstairs.
At this point, Batman couldn't help but support his forehead with his hand. Then, he turned his gaze to Hal again. Hal pondered hard and said, "I think...I have another way..."
With these words, he struggled to move his body, rotating his tied chair towards Dick's direction, and shouted at Dick:
"Stay calm! Feel the power within you and then try to control it..."
