Chapter 608 - Chapter 410 - Everything Starts From Winter (Part 1)_1

Harold, dressed in a pilot's jacket, a thick scarf wrapped around his neck, earmuffs, gloves, and cotton boots not lacking, was walking on the streets of Gotham. He looked at the withered trees on both sides of the road that had already shed their leaves and looked a bit desolate, and he sighed quietly.

Frankly, he felt a bit guilty now. Harold is a good person. Despite his life's early experiences not being too smooth, originally dreaming of becoming a test pilot, which was opposed by his family and turned into ground support, he always refused to give up. He was eventually chosen by the green light, which represents determination.

After becoming the Green Lantern, he tried as much as possible to punish the evil and promote the good, exerting his utmost effort to maintain peace. However, he just arrived in Gotham a few days ago and caused the largest traffic jam in Gotham's history.

The chaos he triggered by landing on a traffic light was much bigger than it looked. The entire Central Roundabout area experienced triple-digit car accidents, with so many cars to be towed away that the towing company didn't finish until nightfall. That night, the largest blizzard in Gotham's history descended.

Since now the ground under Gotham is all ice, the temperature plummeted, this snow lasted for several days and nights, only stopping last night, the culprit for this snow disaster, made the traffic situation in Gotham horrible to the extreme. The wreckage at the Central Roundabout area hasn't been cleaned up yet; the city's traffic has basically come to a halt.

Harold wanted to reveal his identity as the Green Lantern and use his superpower to maintain traffic control, but looking at the traffic officers all over the street who were carrying rocket launchers and machine guns, he felt his deterrence wasn't quite enough.

He doesn't understand this strange city, can't comprehend everything here. He feels that he can't completely fit in here. Originally, Harold planned to leave, but a feeling of guilt kept bothering him, making him hesitate for a long time without leaving.

Until last night, he suddenly received a letter from Shiller. Shiller said that the battle against Fear Joker was a great success, so he wanted to invite those involved in the fight to his house.

Thinking about the battle, Harold still feels like he's dreaming. He never thought he would face such a terrifying monster. However, after defeating the monster, he indeed has a sublime sense of accomplishment.

Since it's a victory celebration organized by Shiller, Harold thought he could go, after all, he also contributed.

Harold put his hands in the pockets of his pilot jacket. While kicking the small stones on the road with his head down, he walked forward. At this moment, a "Dingling" sound came from behind him. With a "sigh," a newspaper boy on a bike passed by him.

Harold widened his eyes, and the newspaper boy turned his head and made a face at him. Just as Harold waved his fist, expressing his anger, a large group of newspaper boys on bikes passed him by again.

Harold was choked by the snow and dust brought up. He swung his hand in front of his face and walked a few steps forward. Looking up, he saw a small mailbox with a little wooden sign that read: "Rodriguez House."

Harold walked up, rang the bell, and soon a butler dressed in a decent suit, white shirt, white gloves, and a bow tie came out. Harold rubbed his hands a little awkwardly. He had never enjoyed such a noble service before.

Merkel nodded with a smile, opened the door to the manor for him. When Harold just walked into the living room, he saw that three people were already waiting for him. Apart from Shiller, the other two were Victor and Gordon.

Victor was holding a glass of water, telling Dick about simple physics knowledge next to him. Shiller was holding Aisha, patting her back to let go of the cane in her mouth.

At first glance, Harold noticed Aisha's unusual teeth. Before, he was indeed tracking Aisha, but to avoid being spotted, he kept his distance. Outside Wayne Manor, Aisha didn't often open her mouth, so Harold had not seen the shape of her teeth.

Such shark-like teeth, even on a little girl, still seem somewhat terrifying, not to mention Aisha's teeth are like a wood chipper, one bite, and the cane directly broke into two sections. With a few "crack" sounds, the originally smooth and beautiful solid wood rod became wooden flowers...

"Hey, Aisha, don't do that!" Dick jumped down from the sofa to stop her. Aisha spat out a few times, spitting out the wood chips in her mouth. Shiller saw Harold walk in. He stood up, came up and shook hands with him, and then said, "Hello, how have you been recently?"

"Er... pretty good." Most of Harold's attention was on Aisha, so his reply was a bit perfunctory. Shiller looked at his expression and followed his gaze to Aisha, who was tossing and turning on the sofa. He said, "Very lively little girl, right?"

"That depends on how you define 'lively.'" Harold said with some difficulty.

Shiller laughed, looking at Aisha and said, "Liveliness is the opposite of her father's character, I really can't believe, Bruce would have such a lively and cute daughter."

Harold pursed his lips and said, "We all know this is not his..."

Just as he said this, he felt an inexplicable chill from behind. Harold looked back nervously, but saw nothing.

Soon, the candles were lit, the lights in the manor were all on, the silver and glass utensils under the light cast a circle of halos, with a "pop" sound, several glasses collided together, the various colored wine swished from the glass, like surging waves.

"We haven't met like this for a while..." Gordon said first. He moved over a bit to make way for the butler pouring wine, then continued, "Unfortunately, several people couldn't come because of various reasons."

"It's okay, we have new friends." Shiller raised his glass towards Harold. Harold also raised his glass in response. Harold took a sip of wine, then said, "I didn't introduce myself before, but you probably know, my name is Harold, Harold Jordan."

"A famous surname, that Jordan from the Chicago Bulls team is making quite the stir recently." Victor chimed in.

Harold shook his head with a smile and said, "Because he's massively popular, I often get asked if we're related. By god, I've never even been to Chicago."

Hal continued, "I was originally a test pilot, but later switched to ground crew, now working at an air force base in Seashore City."

Then, he extended his hand, revealing his Green Lantern Ring, and said, "Just as you saw before, I am a member of the Green Lantern Corps, also known as the Jade Knight."

"I've been meaning to ask, what exactly is the Green Lantern Corps?" Gordon asked, somewhat puzzled.

"You can understand it as an organization that maintains peace in the cosmos, they divide the cosmos into various sectors and dispatch Green Lanterns to guard these sectors, I am one of the Green Lanterns in the sector where Earth is located, mainly responsible for protecting Earth's safety."

Hal briefly introduced the history and behavior guidelines of the Green Lantern Corps to the others. Gordon's frown gradually eased a bit, he said, "You must know, the mess you've caused in Gotham's Central Roundabout Area, even now those mob bosses are still questioning me incessantly about what the Green Lantern is all about."

Hal showed a somewhat guilty expression, he down cast his lips, and then asked, "So what did you tell them?"

"Originally, I wanted to tell them that a superhuman being covered in light landed on a traffic light pole, causing this accident, but..."

Gordon turned to look at Shiller, Shiller put down his utensils, wiped his mouth with a napkin, then said: "I advised him not to do so, in other cities, such an explanation might be treated as a tall tale, taken as a ridiculous excuse made up by the police to shirk their responsibilities."

"But this is Gotham, there's nothing its citizens won't believe. They're all up in arms, and if Gordon had said that, they would definitely dig three feet into the ground to find you."

Shiller shook his head, looked at Hal, and said, "Believe me, even if you have superpowers, once you're mired in the Gotham quagmire, you might not even have a chance to escape."

Hearing this, Hal felt the temperature around him drop a bit, he shivered, picked up his glass of alcohol and took a sip. The spicy drink made him feel a bit warmer, and he looked at Shiller, holding up his glass in gratitude, "Thank you, Professor, for understanding. I didn't mean to, I really didn't know the traffic situation in this city was like this..."

"It's okay, I'm also from out of town." Shiller also raised his glass, took a sip, and said with a smile: "Even though many people haven't noticed this, but in terms of traffic, I'm just as ill-suited as all other outsiders."

"That's the only thing you're ill-suited for though." Gordon also chuckled.

"Speaking of which, what are you guys planning on doing with this little girl?" Hal looked at Aisha sitting next to Shiller, the butler had prepared a children's meal full of broccoli and carrots for her, Aisha seemed to accept whatever was given to her, but from her expression, she might prefer to gnaw on raw carrots.

"What do you mean 'what are we going to do'?" Shiller looked at Hal and said: "Bruce Wayne has officially adopted her, her full name is now Elizabeth Martha Wayne."

"But..." Hal looked torn, he said, "We all know where she came from, that monster..."

However, it was Victor who shook his head first. He looked at Hal and said: "But now, she's not that monster anymore. If her soul was still like that, or if she could still transform into that shape, then indeed some supervision would be necessary, to prevent her from hurting ordinary people."

"But now Aisha has become a being just like a human, both in soul and body, so she should enjoy the rights of a human."

"Also..." Victor looked at Aisha and said, "Clearly, she is intelligent and can be taught, just like any other human child. If she were to harm society in the future, it would be due to a failure in education."

Shiller was somewhat surprised and looked at Victor, saying: "I didn't expect you to be a supporter of the theory of nurture over nature."

"As I mentioned before, my wife and I have taught young children, and during that process, I've deeply understood the importance of nurture for humans."

Gordon put down his glass, stroked his temples and said, "Although I am also pretty worried that she might cause trouble in the future, but does Gotham really lack troublemakers?"

"Full of sharp teeth, extremely strong, incredibly fast, it sounds scary, but Gotham has far worse."

As he said this, Gordon stabbed a piece of steak with his fork and put it in his mouth.

"Do you remember the chaos in the Cathedral last time? The people there somehow went crazy, and it took us quite an effort to bring them back to their senses."

"I didn't know about this." Victor turned his head to look at Gordon and asked, "You mean the accident that caused serious damage to Gotham Cathedral? What exactly happened then?"

Gordon sighed, looking at Shiller, who just calmly continued to eat the food on his plate, then said:

"This all started with something called the 'Dionysium Pool' under Gotham Cathedral."
