Chapter 502 - Chapter 343 S: Glorious Event (23)_1

At this moment, within the secret venue of the World Security Council, a larger screen encircles the front of the half-moon-shaped seating area, displaying an unusual image. Right in the centre of the entire screen is an enormous ball of fire - a star whose true nature has been revealed through special imaging treatments.

Upon closer inspection, a tiny black dot can be spotted in the upper right corner of the star, which is the Kree's planet battleship.

Though the planetary battleship is as large as a whole planet, it pales into insignificance compared to the giant star. At this point, the Kree's planetary battleship is crouching next to the sun, absorbing energy, essentially siphoning the star.

Due to the sheer size difference, the scene is much like a mosquito sucking on a coconut. When the whole screen is full of a star, the Kree's battleship is almost invisible. If not for a red frame specifically marking its position, the dignitaries in the room would not even notice the existence of the battleship.

Already, they had seen the close-up of the planetary battleship, which seemed incredibly massive and terrifying in that picture, with an overwhelming oppressive force. Yet compared to the magnificent forces of nature in the universe, it still remains insignificant.

While it no longer exudes such a strong oppressive feel, it brings about a deeper sense of despair – even a civilization as advanced as the Kree seems minute next to a blazing star, a mere grain of sand. This is the state of the interstellar society. Even the mightiest civilization would one day head towards oblivion amidst cosmic disasters.

Right now, humanity does not even amount up to a grain of sand. A light sea breeze, let alone a tidal wave, would be enough to extinguish the flame of civilization.

At this moment, although everyone has different thoughts and stands, all harboring ulterior motives, they all have to momentarily consider the situation from the perspective of human civilization. Any further division of countries and forces would lead to a state of extreme vulnerability and fragility.

When the game's map was limited to Earth, the struggle between nations and forces seemed incredibly thrilling. But when the map extended to the entire cosmos, no one cared about what happened on the surface of a tiny star. Many representatives frequently cast glances at Director Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Chief Zhengxian of the Spear Bureau.

It could be foreseen that these two departments would gain more power in the coming time.

Just as they pondered the future direction, another red frame suddenly appeared on the screen, seemingly empty.

Then, the director seemed to realise that it was an invalid prompt. Thus, he reluctantly zoomed in. Against the backdrop of the boundless star flames, a tiny black dot began to expand.

As the camera zoomed in again, people could finally see that it seemed to be a person.

Abruptly, whispers and murmurs of discussion reverberated through the venue. It could be seen from the screen that this person was exceptionally close to the star, seemingly closer than the planetary battleship. He was almost on the verge of landing on the sun.

As the camera zoomed infinitely until it focused on his face, the venue erupted in intense discussion. Because the face appearing in the center of the screen bore a familiar aged visage – one that no one wished to see – it was Magneto.

His expression was still indifferent, the corners of his mouth and brows like two underscores. He pressed his lips together, said nothing, but slightly lowered his head to brush the gloves on his hands.

The sun's particles circled around him, yet they couldn't touch the hem of his robe. In the endless star flames, his pitch-black cape fluttered in the solar wind – as awe-inspiring as a mantis against an oncoming car and fearless as an ant shaking a tree. Everyone present was stunned by this sight.

Magneto slowly closed his eyes and spread his arms. He began to float, then sank further, almost entirely immersing himself in the Sun. Particles started to vibrate more intensely, and the firestorms became fiercer.

In just a split second, all the flames on the sun coalesced.

The image on the screen seemed to suddenly be muted, as though someone had hit the pause button. If it were not for the Kree's battleship in the distance slowly rotating, the audience would have thought that something went wrong with the live broadcast.

But the signal had not been cut off. Everything was really happening. In an instant, the sun stopped. All the flames, particles, storms, energy - everything came to a halt.

An invisible stance froze the sun, and then it began to collapse inwardly. The magnetic field became tighter and tighter, as if the star was being clasped by an invisible great hand.

"It seems things are not going as we expected?" In the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s office, Nick, squinting his eyes, spoke, "The process of a supernova explosion isn't supposed to be like this, isn't it supposed to start from the core?"

Stark shook his head and said, "Do you know why a bomb needs a casing? Not only to store gunpowder but also to increase the bomb's power."

As Stark explained, a more intuitive change began. The particles on the sun's surface started to gradually dilute, the star contracted, looking as if it was aging rapidly. The Kree's planetary battleship finally reacted - they wanted to run immediately.

At this moment, Shiller commented, "Looks like Magneto is indeed a tactical master. He first used this slow change to numb the Kree commander, making him think that there wouldn't be an immediate problem with the sun, affording him ample time to contemplate what fate had befallen the star and perhaps even wanting to investigate further…"
