Chapter 4027 - Chapter 3136 "Romantic" Wedding Season (20)

Eddie was staggered by the question.

"The wedding? A wedding is a ceremony that declares to the world that you are married, a kind of... romantic commemorative event."

"Declare to the world?"

"Yes, through the wedding you tell all your relatives and friends that you are going to be partners with this person, start a family, and spend a lifetime together."

"What if they can't?"

"Can't what?"

"What if they can't spend a lifetime together?"

Eddie fell silent, but then he spoke, "At least at the time of the marriage, they believe they can spend a lifetime together, but things are unpredictable, and who can be sure about the future?"

"So, there's no obligatory effect?"

"The wedding has no obligatory effect, but marriage has legal constraints. Rushing into marriage and then leaving comes with a significant cost, so most people still treat it seriously."

"You humans really are strange," Venom said. "Other races' magical ceremonies are useful, but human weddings seem to have no practical use."

"How can you say that? It shows how much you value your other half." Eddie racked his brains to explain. "Organizing such a grand ceremony involves a lot of money and time, and if the purpose is just to introduce your other half to your relatives and friends and announce your future relationship, it undoubtedly is very serious, reflecting respect and love for them."

"Why can't we have such a ceremony?"

"What?"

"Do you not respect and love me?"

"Uh..." After hesitating, Eddie said, "Venom, our relationship isn't a romantic one; we're good partners, aren't we?"

"What's the difference? Is it because I can't sleep with you?"

"That's not it," Eddie said, somewhat helplessly.

"But our relationship is even more intimate than those couples about to get married, isn't it? Pepper certainly doesn't know what Tony's liver looks like, she hasn't touched every one of his cells, hasn't counted the ridges in his brain."

"My God, Venom, don't act like an aggrieved wife who feels like I'm always letting you count my cells alone... That's not the point!"

"If we understand each other so well, and we're going to spend a lifetime together, then why can't we have such a ceremony? Do you find it strange?"

"Other people's opinions are certainly a factor to consider, but the key isn't that, it's... no, we're not that kind of partners."

"Why not?"

Eddie gazed into the distance, pondering a lot. He wasn't sure if Venom could feel his thought process, but he still said, "Sometimes I feel like we are one person, I mean, you are me, and I am you. I've almost completely forgotten what I was like without you, I can hardly remember it at all."

"Do you feel like you are an independent individual? Like Pepper is to Tony, Gwen is to Peter, do you think our relationship is like theirs?"

"No, we're not that superficial," Venom responded. "They seem close, but they can't truly understand each other; they don't know what the other is thinking, everything is just a guess, and I find that sad."

"Do you want our relationship to become like that?" Eddie asked seriously. "If you want a wedding, maybe you should have a separate body, you'd have to leave me, live as another independent entity, otherwise, I can't introduce you to my friends and family. Do you want that?"

"Of course not, I wouldn't go to someone else," Venom immediately refused, then added with some confusion, "Why does it have to be two people? Can't we do it ourselves?"

"How would you exchange rings with me? Move it from the left hand to the right?"

"Do you think my original form embarrasses you?"

"No, your appearance does not fit the general human aesthetic, but its beauty or lack thereof is meaningless to me because you are a part of me, my heart or my lungs do not derive their worth from their beauty."

"I didn't know I was so important to you."

"Of course you're important, I've said it, I can almost completely forget what it feels like to not have the symbiote inside me, I don't even know if I could still breathe without you."

"What do you think about me attending a wedding in this form?"

"Our wedding?" Eddie suddenly laughed, as if he had thought of something funny, then he heard Venom's roar.

"No! The image in your mind is too disrespectful! Disgusting!" Venom paused briefly before shouting, "…And why am I the one wearing the wedding dress?! I want to wear a sleek, custom-made silver suit with silk fabric!"

"I don't think you could pull off that kind of suit, you don't even have shoulders, not even the best suit designer could meet your needs." Venom snorted coldly but didn't refute it, and Eddie continued, "Maybe I should suggest to Nick that when a symbiont and a human bond, there should be a solemn ceremony, because you're not just tools, but sentient beings with emotions, and as long as there are emotions, one could feel respect and love through such formal rituals."

"No, that won't do!" Venom suddenly exclaimed, "It only matters if it's just the two of us having that, if everyone has it, then it's just a routine."

"Weddings are essentially just a routine." Eddie sighed lightly and said, "Even though Tony values it greatly, most of the procedures are still designed by wedding companies, who have handled many big clients like Tony Stark."

"That's not good." Venom said, "A solemn ceremony should be special, tailored for one person, not some cookie-cutter, rushed affair."

"I feel the same, but there are many practical limitations, like, you can't have all the guests hop on fighter jets and fly around the Sun twice, that would be unique, but unsafe."

"It's all because you humans are too fragile."

"Yes, which is why we've come up with a set of the safest and most reliable methods for ceremonies, which eventually became tradition and shaped the modern wedding."

"I don't want to use the same rituals as you humans; they're rigid and boring, and limit too much, not romantic at all."

"What kind of ceremony do you want then?" Venom was silent for a long time, apparently contemplating seriously. He said, "The most important purpose of a wedding ceremony is to declare your relationship to the world, right?"

"Yes, that's true from a practical standpoint."

"But the whole world already knows about our relationship," Venom said. "We're superheroes, have appeared in public several times, they have seen us fight together, they even know how you and I symbiosis."

"Yes, they know, they probably know more than you think, they even know where Godtar comes from, know your name, and even know how the two of us met."

"What?! Wait! How do they know that?"

"Short videos." Eddie spread his hands and said, "We're not the hottest superheroes, but we still have quite a few fans, didn't you follow my TikTok? My profile picture is the two of us."

"I don't have a cell phone," Venom said. "And since we are one, why register two accounts?"

"I can register one for you and promise not to peek into your account."

"But don't expect me not to peek into yours."

Eddie sighed again, reached into the bag next to him, and took out his cellphone. He opened the short video app, entered his name, and soon lots of videos popped up, most of them depicting him and Venom in combat.

Eddie isn't a traditional superhero; he doesn't specifically go around the streets fighting crime. His superhero style is more about bad luck for anyone who runs into him, randomly picking an unfortunate soul to make an example of.

Although he does not actively fight crime, Eddie does not live in a well-policed affluent area; his neighborhood often has criminals running into him, and with everyone having a cell phone nowadays, his crime-fighting is often captured on video.

Since he has not reported to S.H.I.E.L.D. that he is a masked volunteer police, naturally, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s cybersecurity department would not help him remove these incriminating videos, leaving his identity pretty much public knowledge.

There are two types of superhero fans; one likes the regular superheroes like Captain America and Spider Man, who they admire, but there is another type that prefers transformation-based superheroes.

Those are the regular people who transform and stand out as superheroes in times of crisis, and people like Iron Man represent this group. Eddie also belongs to this category.

What these superhero fans love most is the transformation process of superheroes. Iron Man's Mecha is certainly cool, but Eddie's symbiotic armor is not bad either. If Iron Man's mechanical armor radiates a sense of orderly beauty, then Venom's appearance emits a dangerous and eerie aura, which some people really like.

All in all, Eddie has quite a few fans online who have been supporting him, posting reactions of videos watching him transform, editing intense fighting compilations, and some technically adept fans have drawn many fan arts of them.

Eddie's profile picture is a fan art drawn by one of his fans, in a realistic style, half of the face is Eddie's, and the other half is Venom's. This piece has received over 100,000 likes and even topped the trending list in the art category.

Up until now, Venom rarely used the internet, only occasionally looking at it when Eddie browsed on his phone. Don't get it wrong, it's not because he is outdated; it's because he's too advanced.

Their symbiotic species have their own internet, accurately a kind of neural network cluster that allows them to communicate with each other, and this network can also connect to the interstellar internet. Simply put, Venom has ladder access and can directly breach firewalls, surfing online within the common network of the Intergalactic Alliance member countries.

Though humanity has entered the information explosion era, the interstellar internet is clearly even more explosive. Exploring such networks and then looking at human internet content can only seem bland in comparison.

But today, Eddie showed him the content on the short video account, much of which was liked, shared, and saved by fans creating content about Eddie and Venom.

This opened up a new world for Venom. No wonder Ultron is always glued to his phone; this gadget is quite interesting.

He immediately had Eddie register an account for him, eager to see what was up.
