Chapter 3849 - Chapter 2966: When the Night Falls (End)

The issues in the vampire cosmos had basically come to a close. Although the opponents weren't very smart and it wasn't as thrilling as imagined, the loot was actually pretty good.

Moonlight Shiller had actually only come to fight. His battles with the vampires and Vampire Queen Mary were satisfying enough, and although Manipulation didn't have a specific goal, his collection now at least included two teeth from the vampire Dick, so it couldn't be said he gained nothing.

Arkham Knight upgraded his gun with the vampire-targeted laser technology prepared by Batman, and he too had a blast killing, but the biggest gains went to Doctor Strange. Not only did he return to his peak state, he also obtained a powerful undead vampire monster that had mastered four types of magic; to his delight, he found that this creature could be brought back to the Battleworld space.

Actually, players visiting various cosmoses are not allowed to bring living creatures back with them. Otherwise, if all the important characters in that cosmos were taken away, the stories of those universes couldn't unfold.

But this vampire monster wasn't considered a very important character, and since it had been defeated fair and square and then summoned back, it technically wasn't alive anymore. Like blocks, it counted as an item, which naturally could be taken out of its universe.

So theoretically, the idea of looting the Batcave to suddenly get rich overnight is feasible. However, most superheroes won't do this, and most of the villains who would do this don't need to.

Manipulation had just returned to the base in Doujie when he heard arguing from upstairs.

"How many times have I said this? Don't make noise in the middle of the night! I need to rest. Not everyone has sleep habits that are virtually indistinguishable from those of a vampire like you!"

"And I'll say it again, I didn't make any noise. The ones who woke you up yesterday were those personality traits from the magic side. They were experimenting with a new Array they got from a duplicate."

"But if you hadn't suggested they go to that duplicate, how would they have gotten a new Array?!"

"Instead of arguing with me, you might as well go back to sleep."

"But I still have two duplicates to run through! You think everyone hits the pity system without winning like you? I..."

Manipulation turned his head towards the Bishop who was reading in the hall, and the Bishop put the book down and said, "Obviously, Arrogant and Greed."

"I didn't ask that." Manipulation took off his jacket, sat down and said, "How long have they been arguing?"

"I don't remember." Bishop shook his head and said, "Seems like they have been arguing nonstop, from morning till night."

After pausing for a while, Manipulation said, "I suddenly remember why I used to have them take turns controlling the body."

"The key is 'taking turns,' right?"

"Yes, it greatly reduces the time they spend together in the same room." Manipulation sighed and added, "Superego didn't show up, I should have known this would happen."

Bishop helplessly picked up his book again and said, "We all used points to exchange for earplugs in the store."

"You're not going to stop them?"

"How are we supposed to stop them? We can't beat either of them." Bishop rolled his eyes slightly and said, "Plus, those two are the most petty among us. If we offended them, we wouldn't have a day's peace."

Manipulation had no choice but to stand up, take the elevator up, and when he arrived, Greed and Arrogant had just finished a round of quarreling and were in a truce.

"Greed, do you remember what you promised Helen?"

The sudden question made Greed pause, and as he stroked his chin in recollection, he suddenly remembered what he had previously promised Helen. He turned to Arrogant.

"I promised Helen that I would let her and her friends go to Gotham to play." Greed looked at Arrogant and said, "Friends refers to the young heroes of the New Warriors Team, and those from the Guardians of the Galaxy..."

"Don't even think about it." Arrogant flatly refused. "My new house can't survive the chaos, let them queue up for the duplicates themselves."

"But in exchange, I can also let Aisha and her friends come to New York to play." Greed proposed a condition, saying, "The range of friends includes youngsters like Robin, Pamela, and Harley. How about that?"

Arrogant remained unmoved.

Greed sat down, crossed one leg over the other, and said, "I heard your original mansion took a very long time to sell, and your new house's yard needs urgent repair..."

Arrogant's eyes swiveled over.

"If you treat the kids well, I'll pay to buy the estate. How does that sound?"

It was evident from his expression that Arrogant really didn't want to agree, but his expression also made it clear that he indeed needed money.

Greed had money in his world, having made a killing when Mexico was in trouble and even bought a new house on the West Coast, inviting Lucifer to room with him and urging Lucifer to dive into World War II.

However, all of Greed's money was in another bank, something Arrogant hadn't previously thought of, but even if he had, he wouldn't have touched it. After all, the money was somewhat tainted with ill-gotten gains, and Arrogant didn't have the energy to launder it.

But Greed had hit the nail on the head—his big estate just couldn't be sold, and he really did need a sum of money to fix up his garden.

Speaking of Arrogant's new house, the vegetable garden had been established, but nothing else in the backyard had been touched. Arrogant also wanted to build a pavilion there for shade, and after excavating a basement, create sun wells for it in the garden.

Such earthwork was expensive, and he might even have to move elsewhere during construction. The original estate was too far from the new campus, and staying at a hotel would be another expense.

Arrogant weighed his options. Helen was a very sensible girl and, unlike Aisha, who chewed whatever she saw, the members of the New Warriors Team were pretty decent too. The only trouble was the Guardians of the Galaxy crew—Star Lord was a walking disaster area.

Suddenly, Arrogant remembered something—Amanda seemed to be collaborating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation again, scouring the world for super villains. They had used clones to fabricate cases before, trying to get Scarecrow and Professor Pig to work for them.

The Guardians of the Galaxy just happened to be a group of mercenaries who would do anything for money—a perfect fit for Amanda's requirements. With that in mind, it wouldn't be a problem to hand them over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

With those thoughts, Arrogant nodded and agreed.

There would've been a problem with entertaining guests like this in the past: Shiller could only attend to guests in either Marvel or DC, but not both at once. But with the Doujie System, the problem was solved.

The universes they belonged to were replicas, so as long as they managed to enter a replica, they could visit as players. This meant Shiller's double in the Battleworld could be put to use, allowing him to entertain guests in both universes simultaneously.

When Greed shared this great news with Helen, she was busy constructing on the island, with no plans to work with construction materials whatsoever. Instead, she intended to use local resources, felling trees and mining for materials to build houses.

Upon receiving the news, Helen immediately informed Rocket Raccoon and Pikachu, both now members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Technically, Rocket Raccoon had a counterpart team, but this is where pre-team registrations came in handy. Some heroes didn't want to join counterpart teams and had the option to switch during pre-team registration. Rocket Raccoon and other small creatures with counterparts did just that and ended up together.

Rocket Raccoon was the typical type who was tough-talking but soft-hearted. Although he claimed not to care about the Guardians of the Galaxy, he was actually very curious about their progress. When he heard they could team up for replicas, he immediately dropped what he was doing and headed over to Helen's.

Squirrel Girl from the New Warriors Team was also a member of the animal alliance; learning she could visit the famous Gotham of another universe, she joined in as well.

Helen showed them numerous photos of Gotham, many from music festivals, and she was very interested in the results of the East District's architectural renovation project. They decided to take an adventure inside.

It was easy for Arrogant to get in touch with the Robins. They had previously inquired about another universe, but given that it was a crucial period of interstellar exploration, Arrogant had not let those 'crazy teenagers' over.

Now that Greed had invited them, Arrogant did a good deed and told them they could go have fun for a few days. Through the screen, Arrogant could hear their cheers.

Pamela was particularly eager; besides being infatuated with Black Widow, she was in greater need of money than Arrogant. She had been targeted by environmentalists in this universe, making business tough. If she could do business in the neighboring universe, poverty escape was hopeful for her.

Although it was meant to be hosting guests, both Greed and Arrogant had their own matters to attend to lately. Greed's Arkham Sanatorium was about to open a branch, or rather, a branch facility on the West Coast, and Greed was surveying and selecting locations.

Arrogant, on the other hand, had been providing psychological counseling to people in the nearby community, which relieved his financial stress a little. He invested some of his money into Killer Croc's moving company, and to negotiate business, Killer Croc was considering renting a better storefront.

Since he came from the East District and was unfamiliar with wealthy areas, he asked Shiller to check out the store for him.

Shiller's idea of a brand-new cleaning tool had actually been realized by Victor, who launched a smart vacuum robot project, and he was recently dragging Shiller to test it.

So nowadays, Arrogant's free time at school was spent at Victor Laboratory, and once school was out, it was spent checking out stores.

Of course, Xi Wana, the new principal of Gotham Magic Academy, had introduced many reform plans for the Magic Academy, keeping all the deans busy with meetings. Arrogant's remaining free time was gone too, which is why he seemed to have been away for quite a while in the Battleworld.

It was good that the New Warriors could come; Nightingale was reliable, and crucially, if Scarlet Witch decided to visit, Jarvis would come too. Arrogant had to admit, sometimes a robot butler really was more useful.

And so, Arrogant and Greed reached an agreement—to send each other's youths to play for a few days while also helping each other out. It could be said this exchange space was uniquely Shiller's.
