Luckily, Stark Tower wasn't far away. Scarecrow sneered as he boarded the military vehicle with his men. The people he left behind were enough to give Batman some trouble. Catching up to him next time won't be so easy.
Yet, within less than ten minutes, Scarecrow was found again.
After abandoning four or five of his men to distract Batman, Scarecrow began to move towards another safe house—the Chinatown Penthouse, once used to detain Poison Ivy.
He had barely been there ten minutes when the Batmobile appeared at the end of the street.
Scarecrow was near breaking point, baffled about how Batman could locate him so quickly and rush after him recklessly.
Meanwhile, Peter had returned to the Batcave and released the three FBI agents imprisoned there.
"Hello, I'm Peter Parker. Sorry, the reception was a bit dramatic, but it was necessary."
"Reception?!" exclaimed the helicopter pilot, his voice rising. "You mean being shot at by a lunatic in tights driving a flying car?!"
"I told you, it's a necessary procedure. If you weren't caught by him, you wouldn't have met me."
"God! Everyone's insane here!"
"Stop whining. Take this to Ms. Waller. Your helicopter should be in the hangar at the back. Leave now."
The three agents glanced at one another then at the object Peter passed to them. It was indeed the military vehicle's identifying equipment and code.
They nodded at Peter and swiftly left the room. As Peter escorted them to the helicopter landing pad, he told them, "The fact is, someone stole some military equipment, but the military is not stupid, they likely know already."
"As long as the military leaders aren't idiots, they won't allow this to be exposed, so be careful."
The agents nodded again. As the helicopter propellers started spinning, Peter, standing on the ground, waved them off.
He then hurriedly went back to the Bat Computer to call Oracle Barbara. When no one answered, he waved towards Poison Ivy, "We have to go to Oracle's base at the Bell Tower to use her system."
Poison Ivy couldn't be bothered to ask him why anymore. Sticking with Peter seemed to be her only option. If she got caught alone by Batman, there would certainly be consequences. If they both got caught together, she might even escape while Peter was being beaten up.
Peter hacked into Oracle's satellite system and located the Bell Tower. They quickly drove off.
Upon arriving, instead of breaching the security door again, Peter pried it open with his bare hands.
Peeking through the gap, Peter saw no signs of forced entry. Clearly, Barbara had left voluntarily. From the earlier telephone conversation, she must have gone to rescue her father.
Peter activated the computer, successfully logged into Oracle System, and started searching for phone numbers.
He quickly locked onto a number. After the call connected, a stable male voice came from the other side.
"Hello, I'm Peter Parker. You don't need to know who I am, but there's some bad news."
"You've probably already heard about the incident occurring in Gotham City. Unfortunately, the terrorist Scarecrow has stolen the authority to use military equipment. He's now driving a military vehicle and using military satellites in Gotham City."
"Yes, Gotham City's power has been cut off. No one can get the message out, but unfortunately, the omnipresent FBI sent armed helicopters to Gotham."
"Batman provided them with the military vehicle's identifying equipment and unique codes, and perhaps more. The agents have now taken off. In one hour, Amanda Waller will have evidence."
"Don't think about killing to silence them. As long as that equipment is still with the terrorists in Gotham, Waller can dispatch people at any time to get evidence. You know how stubborn and paranoid she is."
"If you have any countermeasures, better carry them out before that plane lands. That's all the warning I can give. Goodbye."
After hanging up, Peter let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm getting more and more confused by you," said Poison Ivy.
Unexpectedly, Peter's expression turned serious, as if his plan was only just beginning.
Peter put on his jacket again and said to Poison Ivy, "Come on, help out. We need to evacuate all the residents of Wayne Manor and the surrounding area."
Poison Ivy looked confused.
While unsure of what Peter was up to, Poison Ivy still helped out wholeheartedly. Manipulating the vines made the job easier, and the people who were anaesthetized with plant toxins posed no resistance—easier even than moving objects.
Peter drove while Poison Ivy, standing on the roof, operated the vines. They transferred every living thing from each house into the car, then swap out for another car when one was filled, even the plants were dug up and moved.
In about forty minutes, the entire Wayne Manor area had been evacuated, leaving only empty houses and land.
Standing in an underground car park at least three miles away, crammed with trucks, Peter looked at Poison Ivy and said, "You stay here. No matter what you see, don't leave. I'll be back to meet up with you shortly."
