Chapter 2779 - Chapter 1971 U: Beyond Major Events (60)_1

Beihan's subsequent actions confirmed their suspicions, as his response to the Hunting was far too passive.

Of course, Bruce Wayne's fundamental intelligence allowed him to easily guess the characteristics of the Hunting, but the problem was that he did too little and was completely reactive.

Lord Superman frowned as he watched Beihan's performance on the screen. Everything had happened too quickly for him to think carefully at the time. Now, he reflected and declared.

"The opponent doesn't look like an irrational creature, Batman's first response should be to engage in conversation which is something the Batman I know would do. He may even persuade the opponent, as he often manages to convince people inexplicably."

"If it were me, I would have at least detected that this female ghost and the personality trait of this person called Hunting have a special relationship, it is more likely that the female ghost is being coerced."

Bruce touched his chin with his finger and reasoned, "If the female ghost's attempt to lure me is not entirely voluntary, and Shiller doesn't trust the female ghost, then some action by the female ghost is likely to trigger the Hunting's attack."

"I could exploit the fact that the female ghost wants me to turn my back, and coax her into crossing the Hunting's red-line, watching them kill each other and noting their patterns of behavior for my information."

"And in the context of understanding the Hunting's modus operandi, it's no risk at all. I only have to ensure I don't turn my back on him; I can just sit against a wall and enjoy the show."

Constantine lit another cigarette and blew on the embers, stating, "Clearly this matchless genius's mind is occupied by others matters, he wishes for an isolated place to think."

"I know what he's thinking." Bruce rolled his eyes and said, "A certain alley, a gunshot, a pearl necklace scattered, and news of a murderer's sentence being served."

"Memories can be quite draining," Arthur suddenly chimed in, "especially when they recall suffering. You have to remember not only the suffering itself, but also how it has shaped you and the tragedies you've created over the years."

"I do not know how many people are unable to extricate themselves from the undertow of such memories, afflicted yet silent to the outside world."

Bruce did not reply, his mouth pursed in silence. Lord Superman also deeply furrowed his brow, falling silent.

Beihan passed the stage of the Hunting, went upstairs, and found a quiet room to speculate.

"He's trying to divert his attention, even I can see that," Spider Man sighed, "it seems like he thinks if he only passes the game level, he won't have to worry about the problems he is currently focusing on and they will no longer trouble him, I used to think the same."

"Simplifying and singularizing problems, can be considered a psychological crutch. It often follows the logic of 'as long as I can do this then it will be like that,'" Bruce summarized, "We often think like this during childhood, and if we continue thinking like this when we face difficulties in adulthood, that we can overcome any obstacle through reckless courage, it's a sign of an immature personality."

"There are people who become mature when faced with difficulties and those who become even more immature," Constantine spoke up, "perhaps because the former had to grow up quickly whilst still children, while the latter forever remember their childish days."

"We are back to the subject, is this floor really safe?" Lord Superman asked with a hint of confusion, "Though the outcome says that it is not, who could actually strip Batman of his skin?"

Bruce's eyes narrowed sharply at the sight of the blood-coloured figure.

It wasn't an adult, but a child.

He might be eleven or twelve years old, just about a teenager. His face was indistinct, but his body was frail.

He was wearing a blood-red patient gown, which was light blue in itself -- unlike those in a hospital, it looked more like what a medical experiment volunteer might wear.

The red staining it was his own blood.

All the faces in the room turned grim.

Beihan's was the worst.

He understood completely what this Human Experiment Organization mentioned by Shiller was about.

The others in the projection room understood too.

But they should've understood all along that there are not many fairy tales in this world. While indeed, some people are born mentally abnormal from the get-go, without external factors, it's impossible for someone to be as mad as Shiller.

Bruce also discovered something else: the numerous wounds on Shiller's body weren't inflicted by others. Based on the direction and force of them, it seemed they were self-inflicted.

But to self-harm to the point of potentially dying from blood loss, indicated that he might be experiencing something more terrifying. Self-inflicted injury often seeks to generate a sense of control over danger to alleviate fear towards unknown threats.

If the depth of self-harm is so profound, the unknown danger he faces is even worse.

Bruce remembered, Shiller once mentioned that he has an ability to perceive danger beyond ordinary people.

Every truth about Shiller's past was tangled in Bruce's mind like a ball of yarn, even he could not unravel it.

But surprisingly, the two truly righteous super-heroes in the room were exceptionally angry. Spider Man raised his voice and asserted, "Whoever did these things to a child should go to Hell, they must face judgement immediately, this is just outrageous!"

Lord Superman's gaze was unusually icy, and there was a flicker of red light in his eyes again, "The police, judges, and all law enforcement officers in this child's jurisdiction should be sent to a mental hospital, they are the real madmen."

Constantine seemed to notice the self-inflicted wounds too, but said nothing. Arthur watched intently as Beihan approached Shiller.

The events that followed weren't hard to imagine. No matter how angry Bruce Wayne was, he was a human being, and humans naturally have a sense of compassion towards injured young animals.

So, Beihan approached, Beihan fell, Beihan was taken by surprise and didn't have a chance to resist. Half of his face was torn off before he realised what happened.

No one saw how the blood-stained figure acted, but perhaps in the dream, they had a certain authority. Anyway, when Beihan ran out of the room, he was already covered in blood.

At last, he arrived at the preparation room, almost without hesitation, he poured alcohol on his face and ignited the flames.

From his subsequent actions and expressions, we can see what kind of intense pain he was feeling, but when the flame extinguished, Bruce Wayne who walked out of the fire was surprisingly calm.

It was as if this wasn't a disaster, but a rebirth.

He saw in that blood-stained figure what Shiller had gone through, and when he remembered again what happened in the illusion that originally frightened and disgusted him, the eerie and nauseating scene suddenly became cheerful.

The others present also noticed this.

When you know that some people have committed sins that are even beyond the redemption of death, that kind of anger makes people instinctively pray that there really is a hell in this world.

But people don't like intangible illusions, and when they learn that retribution has taken place in the real world, that indescribable feeling of relief, is like giving wonderful colors to many heartbreaking scenes that common sense can't accept.

In a trance, it became real art.

That most impressive final scene, under such a filter, became truly wonderful and cheerful.

As Cupid lay in his parents' arms, learning how to love from the beginning with innocence.

Spider Man slowly crouched down, covered his face with his hands and then said: "Forget all this, forget all this, forget all this…"

But this was useless, because the more pure and good a person is, the more they hold out hope for the good to be rewarded and the evil to be punished, the more they will feel the beauty of extreme cruel revenge under this series of guidance.

Bruce Wayne was no exception.

Batman was born out of the idea of good reward and evil retribution and eventually became its most powerful supporter and defender.

The look in Beihan's eyes in the image showed that he remembered the scene like everyone else, but the difference was that he had truly experienced the pain of this piece.

So the more painful it was, the more refreshing it was.

The last shred of sanity shattered.

The turbulent emotions stirred up violent storms in the deep sea beneath the iceberg, and the barriers between dreams and subconscious began to collapse, with consciousness and perception gradually returning to reality.

This was obviously way beyond the killer devil's expectation, just as Shiller had predicted. When the killer devil found that the origin of the dream's collapse was Beihan, he stepped forward to check.

At this time, the final guidance took effect, and the memory that Beihan had been suppressing turned into an illusion before his eyes.

The dark alley, the muffled gunshot, the scattered pearl necklace, the smoking gun, and behind the gun was Joe Chel.

He knew how painful the criminal who suffered revenge would be, and after experiencing it personally, he could no longer refuse it.

"There's no madness without warning in this world." Arthur suddenly spoke: "If you think a person goes mad suddenly, he has gone through a long struggle with himself, made his choice."

It seemed like he was talking about Batman, Shiller, and himself.

"When we stand upstream, we don't know that the silt will float downstream. When we stand downstream, we think the river is naturally muddy." Constantine said with a light laugh: "Upstream thinks that downstream is decadent, downstream thinks that upstream is naive, that's human society."

One punch, two punches, three punches, until he smashed the killer devil's head to pieces, Bruce Wayne finally confirmed his existence.

The anger at this moment was so real, it was a human emotion, and he vented it out as he used to.

Righteous and just Batman couldn't stop him, and wouldn't stop him in the future. He didn't disappear and never would.

He is not Batman, he is Bruce Wayne.

And everyone else finally saw the scene afterwards.

Beihan wobbled to his feet, Shiller reached out his arm to him, and he finally understood this was his guide.

So he hugged Shiller, and he heard Shiller ask softly in his ear: "How do you feel?"

"...I feel good."

Batman and Natasha, about to turn back, close their eyes, and prepare for another sleep, spoke in unison.

"He might be unscrupulous..."

"...but definitely not a quack."
