After Shiller and Stark returned to the Star Devouring Engine, T'Challa playfully patted Stark's shoulder and said, "Honestly, I always found myself wondering how our universe got to where it is today."
"I've always believed that the inability of humans to fully understand each other makes it difficult for us to collaborate. To align our desires and efforts, it almost seems impossible, yet our universe is almost able to achieve it."
"Now I can see that it's not really about us wanting to unite, it's that we have to." T'Challa placed his hand on Stark's shoulder, looking down at him and said, "Some people are like moths to a flame. They'd fall for the same trap a thousand times over."
Stark folded his arms and snorted coldly, still clearly angry. Shiller was taken aback for a moment, before showing a smile that everyone present was familiar with.
He coughed lightly a couple of times into his fist, then turned to look at Nick who was rapidly typing on his phone.
Eddie leaned over to take a look, and quickly discovered that Nick was chatting in a group chat. The chat was updating rather quickly but just from seeing the collection of red and blue avatars, he could deduce that this must be a private group for Spider Man.
Eddie watched the screen as long chunks of text scrolled quickly past. He felt his headache returning. But then, an avatar bearing a unique black-and-white spider web design left a brief comment:
"We've arrived in our target universe. Where's that poor bastard?"
Spider Silk put down her phone and looked out at the ruins of New York City, sighing deeply.
She turned to look at Peter from the Central Universe who was still deeply engrossed in his reagents. She shook her head and stepped up to pat Peter on the back, "That's enough, nerd. You've been in the lab too long. We've reached our destination. We need to find this universe's Spider Man. We've got work to do."
Peter pushed up his glasses and looked out past the edge of the building at the surrounding area. He put his hands on his hips and sighed, "I told you we should have brought more equipment before we came here. Give me ten more minutes, I could bring the mini-robots from Mercury Base... Alright, alright, I get it, I'm Spider Man, I will go find people."
With that, Peter took to the air. A dazzling Spider-Man suit quickly replaced his casual clothes and covered his entire body, including a mask for his face.
Spider Silk snapped her fingers at him and made a 'you're awesome' gesture. Then she walked towards the teleportation portal and said, "Alright, I'm heading back first. Remember to send Nick a message once the job is done. He's been worrying like a worried aunt."
After saying that, Spider Silk walked into the teleportation portal without looking back. Spider Man floated in mid-air, looked around at the completely destroyed buildings, and figured it would be difficult to locate a single human in that wreckage. So Spider Man decided to utilize some technology.
He touched his arm a bit to bring up a projection screen. A swarm of drones resembling butterflies flew out from his arms. As they appeared, an optical stealth system was activated rendering them invisible. They silently flew off in all directions of New York.
Soon, a drone sent back a report. Spider Man opened it up and saw a battle was occurring around Stark Building. The stars of the show were the homegrown Spider Man and a group of Zombies in superhero suits.
Spider Man flew towards them at great speed, and as he neared the conspicuous signboard of Stark Building, he saw a figure in red and blue suit being hit and sent flying from afar.
Spider Man swooped down, delivered a punch to knock away a zombie who was trying to land a hit on the grounded Spider Man, quickly skimmed just above the ground, grabbed the arm of the grounded Spider Man and flew him up to the roof.
The local Spider Man was shocked to see another version of himself floating in mid-air. He was about to speak when the flying Spider Man motioned him to shush and threw him a cell phone.
"Buddy, no time to explain, install this app, set up an account and hit 'task completed' for me. We're running out of time."
"Ah?"
About ten minutes later, two Spider Men were sitting side by side on the rooftop of Stark Building. The Spider Man from this universe was dumbfounded as he read the never-ending list of messages in the learning group.
"So Spider Man is actually an organization, and there's one unlucky victim in each universe who gets bitten?"
"Not everyone is bitten, but you are certainly one of the unluckiest." Spider Man shrugged and responded, "Not only were you bitten by a spider, but also by a zombie."
"Um... so... what are you here for?" The local Spider Man scratched his head, looking a little puzzled.
Spider Man pulled out his phone, scrolled for a bit and said, "The mission brief says that the zombie crises in one of your parallel universes have been resolved, but the other one still has some issues…"
The local Spider Man looked down at the roaring zombie superheroes below and sighed, "That's indeed a big problem. I was able to cure the virus that infected myself by getting infected with another zombie virus."
"But to cure everyone else, I need to infect them with this other zombie virus, which means I need to bite them. It's true that The Avengers in the other universe have been restored, but there are many other superheroes and mutants left. And the teleportation gate is just too slow…"
"So, I brought you this." Spider Man pulled out what looked like a syringe from somewhere, though it wasn't exactly like the ones we typically see in laboratories. It was slimmer, and the needle was shorter.
"Is this an anaesthetic needle?" The local Spider Man asked, "It looks like one of those used in anaesthetic guns."
"Almost, but what's inside is not an anesthetic, but a type of blood solvent reagent. What we are going to do is extract something from your body that can resist the zombie virus and inject it into them, which is much faster."
Local Spiderman slapped his forehead and said, "I almost forgot we have modern medical methods. However, I'm afraid this world can't provide you with the equipment you want....."
"No problem, I brought my own," Spiderman stood up, took out a business card holder, and began to flip through it tirelessly. Local Spiderman was curious about what he was doing, so he leaned over to look, and then he found that instead of business cards, the cardholder held multiple, oddly named, tiny iron pieces.
"Oh, here, let me see...found it." Spiderman took out a small iron piece from the cardholder and threw it towards the empty space, and a piece of experimental equipment appeared on the rooftop.
"My God!" Local Spiderman exclaimed, and before he could express himself, Spiderman's hands flew up and down, throwing the iron pieces out like snowflakes. Very quickly, the rooftop was transformed into a medical and chemical laboratory.
"Is the technology of your universe this advanced?" Local Spiderman kept looking up at the surrounding equipment.
Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and smacked his forehead, asking, "I've heard before that a group of visitors from another universe came here, and they got the information about the murderer from that big head before I did. Are you with them?"
Spiderman recalled and said, "If what you saw was a strange Iron Man, a strange black man, and a strange doctor, then probably. I come from the same universe as them, I am the Spiderman from that universe."
Local Spiderman immediately rushed up and grabbed Spiderman's arm, saying, "Can you contact them?"
"I can, but shouldn't you deal with the trouble here first?" Spiderman shrugged and said, "Besides, this drug not only solves the problems of your universe, but, as far as I know, many universes are troubled by the zombie virus. Though I don't know if it's the same one, we can at least give it a shot."
Local Spiderman was a little disappointed, but quickly cheered up. He nodded and said, "Indeed, if we can help other universes avoid such tragedies, it would be great. Let's get started. What do you need me to do?"
"First of all, we need to do a rough physical examination. I'll need to collect some blood and hair samples. We may also need to do a gene test."
Local Spiderman looked down worriedly and said, "These zombies are now very hungry, so they're not very conscious. But what if they become full later and come to us for trouble?"
Spiderman extended a finger and said, "Wait a moment."
Spiderman jumped off the roof. A blue gun appeared in his hand, he skimmed over the zombies, constantly pulling the trigger. One ice cone after another hit the zombies. In a matter of seconds, the entire Zombie Avengers Alliance was frozen into large ice cubes.
Spiderman flew back to the roof and shook his head, "If Spider Silk wouldn't have rushed me, I would have brought the ice bomb. With it, we could freeze all the zombies in the city, and no one would come to bother us."
Local Spiderman stared at the gun. He thumped his fist on his palm and said, "In the early stage of zombie infection, I also thought about creating freeze weapons, but low temperatures can harm the human body, just like zombies...."
"Not this one." Spiderman shook the freeze gun at him, then said, "I heard it was developed by a low-temperature scholar named Victor Fries. It's called... dense ice technology?"
"I heard that the latest version of Dense Ice can avoid heat exchange. But this old version I'm holding should be enough. People frozen in the ice won't be harmed. You can judge it from their eyes."
Local Spiderman looked downstairs and found that the zombies' eyes were only blank, not in pain. Their complexion and physical condition had not changed, which showed that they didn't feel cold.
"That's unbelievable," local Spiderman commented.
Spiderman remotely opened the cover of the medical examination cabin. After Local Spiderman went in, the equipment quickly showed the readings. Spiderman stared at the readings and froze.
"What the hell is all this? Asgard? Tony Stark? And Doctor Schiller?"
The cabin door opened. Spiderman said to the other himself inside: "The device might be broken. Anyway, under current limited conditions, we don't need to be specific. We'll just draw blood directly."
Local Spiderman was a bit puzzled, but he nodded. He instinctively trusted his parallel identity who was technologically superior to him, so he pulled up his uniform and allowed Spiderman to draw some of his blood.
During the blood test, Spiderman became more confused. He stared at the instrument for a long time before saying, "There's a very magical factor in your blood. I don't know what it is, or even if it exists. Is it the zombie virus?"
"Oh, no, it's not." Spiderman denied himself. He said, "This thing isn't attacking any system in your body, it just exists like this. Could it be a special immune factor? Is this the antidote to the zombie virus?"
Local Spiderman immediately widened his eyes and said, "What are you waiting for, quickly extract it and make it into a medication. The Zombie Universe will be saved."
Although Spiderman instinctively felt uncomfortable, he decided not to think too much about it, considering the devastated scenery of New York and the desperate state of the Zombie Universe described in the mission. He decided to first extract the useful components.
