Chapter 2628 - Chapter 1844: Madman's Journey (Twenty)_1

Zombie Spider-Man swallowed nervously.

The next second, with the speed of his legs dancing shadows, he chased after the three figures running in front.

But before they had gotten far, the crazed Zombie Captain America blocked their path again. Helen was about to switch directions again, she frowned, glanced at Captain America, and then said, "This one isn't Shiller, beat him up!"

Immediately, Helen and Venom pounced on him. The two Spider-Men were a bit slower, and by the time they got there, Captain America was already tackled by Venom.

Captain America seemed to have completely lost his tactical mind. He didn't even avoid Venom who was holding onto his neck instinctively trying to bite off his head. But remembering that horrible taste, he abandoned the plan on the spot.

Seeing Venom pinning down Captain America, Helen came over and asked, "What happened? How did he suddenly lose his mind?"

"He is possessed by a ghost." Eddie suddenly came out to say: "I'm not telling ghost stories! Am I the only one who can see ghosts?"

Helen was taken aback. At this time, the exhausted Zombie Spider-Man stepped forward and said, "I saw those ghosts. When we were blocked by the monsters in the base, I noticed that a group of them was incorporeal. That must be what people generally refer to as ghosts."

"Are those ghosts?" Helen asked uncertainly: "All the monsters besides the zombies are ghosts?"

"No, not all, but at least half of them." Zombie Spider-Man looked at Captain America, struggling frantically in Venom's hands, and sighed: "Not just Captain America, the members of the Avengers seem to be possessed too. I don't know why this would happen."

Eddie spoke out, "Venom and I believe that ghosts are a type of radio wave, and they have a commonality with human brain waves. You can also understand them as mutated souls that can linger here due to some special properties and not dissipate."

"When the frequency and wavelength of human brain waves coincide with those of ghosts, ghosts can potentially merge with human brain waves, which is the well-known ghost possession."

"Judging from Venom's feelings, every time I get frightened by a ghost, or when my mental state is relatively low, my brain waves become similar to ghosts, making it easier to be possessed. And when they control my brain waves to completely change, I might not even see the ghost, and the ghost wouldn't be able to affect me in any way."

Everyone's eyes fell on the Captain America on the ground. Spider-Man was the first to ask, "So, is it because this group of zombie Avengers felt fearful and depressed that they were possessed by the suddenly appearing ghosts?"

"But isn't that too coincidental?" Helen raised a doubt: "The ghosts just happened to possess all of the Avengers and even control them to activate the portal to this universe?"

"And you..." Helen turned her head to look at Zombie Spider-Man, and said, "You said that you saw a ghost wearing a white coat in the room, but you weren't possessed. Why is that?"

Eddie looked at Helen and said, "You just mentioned Shiller. What does this have to do with Shiller?"

Helen narrowed her eyes and said, "You want to ask where Shiller is now, right? You know he's come to the Zombie Universe."

"Yes, we were supposed to come together." Eddie nodded and said, "Shiller said he was going to go out for a while and asked me if I wanted to come. I happened to lack inspiration lately, so I came with him. But who would've known that the portal would explode when we walked through it?"

Eddie found that Helen was looking at him as if he were an idiot. Helen snorted and said, "The portal exploded? Even if the Earth exploded, the portal that Shiller left wouldn't explode! It looks like the Doctor is behind this!"

"Shiller must have thought of some way to control these ghosts and let them possess the Avengers... No, that's not right, just now this Spider-Man said, he saw a shadow wearing a white coat... Has Shiller also become a ghost?!"

Eddie immediately shivered and stared at Helen said, "Don't tell ghost stories! Shiller is a living person, how could he become a ghost?"

"He's the most suitable to become a ghost!" Helen immediately retorted: "If, according to your theory, the existence of ghosts is similar to human brain waves, then Shiller's multiple personalities may have multiple brain waves, meaning that he doesn't need to die in order to separate out other brain waves to exist independently."

Eddie's eyes widened, seeming to think Helen was telling a far-fetched story, but Venom spoke up, "It's not impossible, Eddie, do you remember? We went to find Shiller to confirm our itinerary before we set off, but the nurse said that he had gone to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters."

"Shiller has always taught mutants in the Dreamworld, so why did he suddenly go to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters? And it was already evening at that time, the students would have definitely gone home. So there's only one possibility, Shiller went to find Professor X."

The two Spider-Men suddenly looked at each other, and simultaneously said, "Brainwave Amplifier!"

Inside the Star Eater's skull floating in outer space, Stark was tapping and banging while watching the gray mist continuously spewing all sorts of usable parts and equipment.

After enduring it for a while, he couldn't take it anymore, he stood up holding a wrench, looked at Shiller and said, "Did you start another huge plan and kept us in the dark again? You're not planning on driving into someone again are you?!"

Shiller looked at him without saying a word, Stark heaved a deep sigh, he waved his wrench and said, "Let Shiller come out and talk to me, I have to understand what's going on, otherwise I'm not doing it!"

Shiller was still staring at him intently, his fingers feeling the handle of the umbrella, as if considering whether or not to take action. But just then, Shiller's voice rang in his ear.

"Tony Stark, why is it always you running into trouble? Can't you just get to work? Can't you wait until the plan is completed to investigate in depth?"

Stark was so scared that his hair stood on end, almost jumping two meters on the spot. He stumbled a few steps forward, propping himself up with his hands to turn around, only to see a white shadow floating in midair.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The scream echoed within the skull of the planet-consuming entity.

Stark hurriedly got up from the ground, looking back at Shiller, who was standing behind him silent and holding an umbrella knife. Then, he glanced at the white-coated Shiller floating in midair, and back at Shiller with the umbrella knife.

Shiller in mid-air pulled out an earbud, floated back down, and said, "Why the surprise? Didn't you propose the ghost wave theory? Can't you just consider me as a wave?"

"But, but... this isn't scientific, well, I mean, it's not this kind of science, but this wasn't supposed to... Oh God, what the hell is going on? Are you capable of binary fission now?!"

"Didn't I already explain? I am now an independent wave, or you could understand it as a ghost in the traditional sense."

"What I'm asking is why you became a ghost!!!" Stark roared at Shiller: "Do you expect me to accept this bizarre fact in two seconds and then obediently go back to work? How is that possible?!"

"Alright, the process on Earth is a bit slow, so there is some time to explain to you, but this has to start from your proposed ghost wave theory…"

As Shiller recounted, Stark recalled the scene when Nick pushed a life support pod into his lab.

That day, Stark was performing routine maintenance work on his suit when S.H.I.E.L.D. agents suddenly barged in. Coulson, leading the team, brought in a strange device, followed closely by Nick.

Stark looked at Nick in surprise. Although the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was a bit greedy, he was able to maintain his position due to his proper way of handling things and understanding of human life.

Stark knew that Nick had a good understanding of the preferences of the heroes in The Avengers. He was certain that Nick knew he disliked people abruptly intruding into his laboratory, so Nick's visit must be for an emergency, so Stark didn't question it and directly asked what the matter was.

But Nick's first question made Stark want to throw him out. Nick looked at Stark seriously and asked, "What do you think about ghosts?"

The reason Stark wanted to throw Nick out was that he didn't have much research on this area. He thought that Nick was mocking him for the mages.

But a few minutes later, he found out what the emergency was - Nick caught a ghost!

It happened like this: One day, the mages of the New York Temple contacted S.H.I.E.L.D. for a joint law enforcement action, as a local policeman had been possessed by a ghost. The mages went to his home, but other people at the police station thought they were fraudsters and arrested them.

The mages needed official endorsement to successfully expel the ghost, so Coulson went. The exorcism went quite smoothly, and the ghost left the policeman without any trouble.

The mages thought they had eliminated the ghost, so they returned to the temple. But this ghost was particularly cunning. It hid in Coulson and after returning to S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson went mad.

Luckily, Nick had experience dealing with such incidents. He first subdued Coulson and then brought the mages. According to them, this ghost was rather special and couldn't be eliminated easily. They needed some time to prepare.

However, Nick was intrigued because Coulson was not ordinarily a powerful agent. But after being possessed by the ghost, he transformed completely.

In Natasha's words, who subdued Coulson, even if Coulson's idol, Captain America, appeared in front of him now, he would still dare to take a swing. More importantly, Captain America might not even be able to dodge.

Coulson, after being possessed by a ghost, was not only incredibly strong and fast but would also bite anyone indiscriminately. He was lawless.

So, what could Nick, as the slightly greedy director of S.H.I.E.L.D., think of? Since agents could achieve great power by bonding with a symbiote, why couldn't they control ghosts?

And according to the mages, not all ghosts lacked reason. If they could bring over a few ghosts who were finance experts in their past lives to work, wouldn't that boost S.H.I.E.L.D.'s financial statements?

Upon having this thought, Nick immediately prevented the mages from eliminating the ghost and had them enchant a life support pod. With the siren and flashing lights on, they transported the fresh ghost to Stark's laboratory as fast as possible.
