Chapter 2320 - Chapter 1596: The Sun Chaser (37)_1

Upon hearing Shiller's explanation, the others exchanged glances. Otto stroked his chin and spun his eyeballs, saying, "So, if we toss a few more Reeds from other universes into the antimatter universe, won't it explode faster?"

Peter gasped, turned his head to glare at Otto. At this moment, Doom also echoed: "Doom agrees with you, Doom believes that every Reed Richards in each universe should contribute to the safety of the universe."

However, Shiller shook his head, "If we throw in one Reed, even if he could blow up the antimatter universe, he probably would be left half-alive. But if we throw in a bunch of Reeds, and they manage to get out of the exploding antimatter universe unscathed, wouldn't that be disastrous for the positive matter universe?"

Upon reflection, Otto concluded that it made sense. Having one Reed was already an enormous misfortune for the universe. If they brought over a group of them, it would be uncertain whether the explosion would affect the enemy or themselves.

Waving his mechanical arm, Otto dragged Salo up from the ground. Peter grabbed Salo's leg, and the two of them together dragged this bug emperor into the laboratory of the escort ship.

Shiller originally also wanted to follow them in out of curiosity about the body structure of the insect race. But when he stood at the door, he hesitated, and then frowned.

None of the others, busy with their new experimental subject, noticed his abnormality. Only Peter, familiar with Shiller, immediately put down what he was doing. He looked worriedly at Shiller and asked, "Doctor, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Shiller coughed lightly and forced a smile, "No, it's nothing. Didn't I just drag this bug emperor's soul into the psychic battlefield?"

Upon hearing this, the others in the room grew apprehensive, including even Doom. Banner, with a serious expression, pushed his glasses up and said, "What, is he causing trouble in your psychic world? Don't worry. Let us go in and deal with him."

Unable to hold laughter, Shiller suppressed his amusement and addressed the group: "I might have forgotten to tell you that I am currently undergoing long-term psychotherapy with Professor X."

Suddenly, their worried faces turned into expressions of sympathy, and then they turned around and resumed their work.

Shiller found a chair at the door and sat down, sinking his thoughts into the Thought Palace. There had indeed been some disturbances here just now.

Shiller used Mad Liquor to drag Salo's soul into his psychic world. Salo was a humanoid insect, and all humanoid individuals in the Destroying Worms looked more or less like humans, except for having wings on their backs and skin of various colors.

They were slightly taller than humans on average, their heights ranging from two to three meters, but their skeletal structures were not much bulkier than that of humans. Some even retained the segmented structure of insect limbs in their hands and legs, making them appear more delicate. Without close inspection, they could be mistaken for humans.

Therefore, when Shiller dragged Salo's soul into his psychic world, he didn't take a close look because the souls of most lifeforms he had met previously looked exactly the same as their outward appearances.

However, Salo turned out to be an exception. Although he closely resembled a human in physical form, his soul was a huge bug, similar to the giant bug they had encountered on the planet. Having a cone-shaped body that was thick at one end and thin at the other, six long legs, and covered in red spots all over, he looked terrifying.

When Salo swung his front two legs to peek into the Tower of Thought from above, many Schillers walking around in the hallway got a scare, especially Jormungand of the Dust World, who was dozing off at the top of the tower.

This giant snake completely forgot that it was also a monster. As it turned around and stumbled upon a huge bug next to it, it shivered in fright and almost fell off the top of the tower. And its second reaction after being petrified was to bite.

Jormungand of the Dust World, from a cosmic perspective, was just an obscure monster in a secluded dimension within the cosmos. But alas, the region where he resided was notorious for harboring monsters in the Nine Major Kingdoms universe.

There was more than just a Sleeping Dragon and Rising Phoenix within the small Nine Major Kingdoms. Talents emerged in each generation, different styles for hundreds of years. Even in the Cartoon World, the strength level was outrageously high. Although Jormungand couldn't rank in there, he would have easily been a Dimensional Lord if he was living elsewhere.

The moment Jormungand bit down, Salo, who hadn't yet reacted, lost a leg and let out a high-pitched scream.

The other Schillers just stood in the hallway, watching the spectacle. They were quite used to various types of monsters appearing near their home, especially when Greed went to work, he liked to bring back all sorts of peculiar things and leave them lying around the house.

The other Schillers, much like the family of a fisherman, were never surprised by whatever Greed had in his hand when he returned.

But at this very moment, there was a stranger in the tower, Professor X, who was preparing to provide long-term therapy for Schiller. At the moment, he was in Greed's room, checking Schiller's memories that were open to him and establishing a tentative treatment plan based on them.

Upon hearing a scream, he thought something had happened in the tower and rushed out of the room. As he looked up, he saw a terrifying bug and a giant snake fighting.

When had Professor X seen such a scene? Moreover, that bug was unmistakably part of the Destroying Worms that had caused severe losses for the Star Alliance on the battlefield. At that moment, Charles had only one thought— who brought the enemy here??!!

Professor X thought Shiller's Mind Space had been invaded, so he treated this as a serious enemy. He immediately levitated to the top of the Tower of Thought and unleashed all his powers. A psy-storm engulfed both monsters, flinging Salo two kilometers away with a huge slap.

"Spare the bugs! Spare the bugs, Professor!!!"

The voice of Greed came from the top of the Thought Tower. Greed hurriedly ran out of the elevator, extending a hand towards Professor X, who hovered above the tower, exclaiming: "It's a misunderstanding! Professor Charles, this is food I picked up!"

Charles turned to look at Shiller, and seeing Charles in his present state, even Greed was taken aback. Charles was no longer his usual elderly, bald self, but looked younger, his deep blue eyes being the most noticeable.

Seeing Greed's expression, Charles also reacted. He coughed lightly and resumed his usual appearance, floating into the hallway. "To exert all my abilities, I need to return to the soul state of my prime..."

"Sorry, Professor. I didn't expect this thing to be so big and to startle you," Greed apologized with a contrite smile at Charles.

"You just said you brought it back as food?" Charles squinted, his expression confused. "Shiller, while it's true that when one's soul energy becomes powerful enough, one can devour other souls to enhance their energy, this could very likely pollute one's soul, especially if the soul devoured belongs to a different race."

"Once the soul is polluted and acquires characteristics incompatible with the human body, one has to abandon their physical form and become a creature of pure energy, like the Demon God. This is not a good thing at all, so I don't permit any other souls to enter my body."

"Oh, you misunderstood, Professor," Shiller quickly explained. "I didn't bring it back for my own consumption."

Shiller pointed at Ye Meng Jia De, the Mundane Python, floating above his head, then motioned to Khonsu below, who was lifting his falcon head to look up. He then patted the gray mist floating beside him, saying: "It's meant to be food for them."

Charles gazed at Shiller, dumbfounded: "In your own psychic battleground, you already have so many creatures, and you still need to find others to feed them?!"

"Keeping pets is beneficial for physical and mental health," Shiller responded nonchalantly, "In some ways, this is basic knowledge in psychology."

Charles was speechless as he studied the creatures in Shiller's realm, particularly the massive snake, which was drooling and charging towards the fainted Salo. Judging by its familiar routine, it seemed this wasn't its first meal.

Greed and Charles walked side-by-side down the hallway. Shiller stated, "From the deals with the Cosmic Sorcerer, I made a neat cut too. But I've got a few big eaters at home, and they can't be fed on that salary alone."

Greed finished speaking and ran his hand over the Grey Mist floating next to him. The Mist hummed contentedly and rubbed against Greed's arm. Greed spoke openly: "Unlike some people, I don't only consider my good companions when they're useful to me. I'm responsible for feeding this large family, expanding the tower, and storing energy."

"So, that's why you're so greedy?" Charles turned and asked.

"Life makes it so," Shiller replied casually.

Charles approached the situation from the perspective of a professional psychologist. As they walked, he contemplated and stated: "We often believe that human desires are driven by various factors. There is thirst derived from physical instinctual needs, and desires formed from acquired personality hobbies. These are naturally occurring forms of greed and are healthy."

"However, more morbid forms of greed often arise from a desire for long-term unfulfilled satisfaction, a compensation for suppressed desires. For instance, children who grew up poor and had their material desires heavily repressed could develop a tendency for 'revenge spending' as adults. This is a rebound from desire suppression."

"As a result, it would seem that the memories of your familial circumstances that you have not shared with me are likely not very pleasant. At the very least, you certainly wouldn't have been in a position to keep pets, or possibly didn't have many personal belongings or much personal space."

"Possessing and controlling something is the most basic source of human security. To some extent, babies continually attracting their parents through crying is a form of desire for possession and control to seek security."

"If this desire is long-term suppressed, and one is still unable to gain security from possession and control, it will trigger a strong desire to possess and control resources in the future, manifesting as hoarding or pushing unneeded resources onto others."

"All of this is just to prove that they have the ability to possess enough material goods and have the authority to distribute what they possess freely to others, rather than having to wait their turn and be at the mercy of distribution."

"This situation often occurs in places like orphanages, where there are many children and limited resources. Children growing up in these places are more likely to exhibit these symptoms as adults."

"The orphaned mutants adopted by Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters are much more competitive, always snatching toys and books, grabbing everything they can get their hands on and keep safe. They would even resort to violence."

"But this isn't due to their bad nature, it's just because in the environment they grew up in, if they didn't snatch, they might go hungry or get beaten."

Charles stopped walking, turning to look at Shiller he remarked: "Dr. Shiller, it seems that your childhood was not a happy one, yet you became an exceptional psychologist. That's indeed a miracle."

"If you don't mind, would you share this legendary story with me?"
