The record is very detailed and smooth. It can easily dispel the ridiculous rumors in some news reports saying that Spider-Man was gambling or slaughtering stray dogs at certain times.
What startled George though, was that Spider-Man's disappearance time in Hell's Kitchen, besides the possible break or school time, perfectly matched Gwen's time of departure for an exhibition?
As a single parent and seasoned detective who climbed up the ladder through his own abilities, George is well aware of the concept of safety first. He knew that a police chief's only daughter could become many people's target, so he requested Gwen to always inform him about her outings and clearly state her departure and return times.
Gwen was an obedient child and always did as told. She didn't like going out much and in two years her outings were scarce. George clearly remembered each time she left and returned.
George did not believe in such coincidences in the world. Even if he was conservative in his thoughts, he would not believe that the timelines of a man and a woman disappearing in the public eye were just a coincidence because they were both interested in a certain exhibition.
He looked at the information in his hands again. It confirmed that it was the records of the first generation Spider-Man when he first appeared. So, Gwen was in a relationship with the first generation Spider-Man?!
Upon reaching this conclusion, George's first thought was - it was a good thing the first generation Spider-Man was dead. Otherwise, how much danger would he pose for Gwen?
Wait, is he dead? Or should I say, is he dead now?
In an instant, George broke into a cold sweat. Jameson's words echoed in his ear. Without time to think, he instinctively rushed out of the house, got into the car, and returned home at top speed.
With a "bang", George opened the door and rushed in to see Gwen who was at the island platform making a cake and he asked,
"Did you ever date Spider-Man?!"
Gwen was taken aback. She understood her father very well. If George asked like this, he must have some evidence. After the initial shock, Gwen turned her head and didn't speak.
She was anticipating George's explosive reaction, but he unexpectedly, in a state of panic, charged over and grabbed her arm saying, "Quick, Gwen, you need to leave New York!"
George couldn't be sure if the mysterious killer was Spider-Man's ghost or not, but even if there was a one in ten thousand chance, he didn't want to risk Gwen's safety. Gwen was his entire spiritual pillar, nothing in this world was more important than her safety.
Gwen was startled by his reaction. She was utterly confused and pushed George. Looking at him, she said, "Dad, what the hell is going on? Why should I leave New York? Tomorrow is your birthday, I need to be with you to celebrate it."
Seeing the sincere expression on his daughter's face, George sighed helplessly and said,
"You understand, Gwen, the first generation Spider-Man is dead, but he might have come back now!"
George was implying that the first generation Spider-Man might have been resurrected and transformed into a ghost, but Gwen misunderstood. She thought that George being aware of her dating Spider-Man meant that he also knew about Peter, but he was just not sure whether the first and third generation Spider-Man were the same person.
Now that their relationship was exposed, there was no point in hiding anymore. So, Gwen nodded and said, "Yes, he, of course, came back. Didn't you see Peter a few days ago?"
George was stunned. His mind racing, he looked at Gwen and said, "Peter? You mean, Peter Park is Spider-Man?!"
Gwen nodded, lowered her head in guilt and said, "We didn't mean to deceive you. But Peter has some social anxiety, and you know he doesn't speak well, we truly didn't know how to explain…"
"So your current boyfriend is also Spider-Man? You've dated two Spider-Men?! Oh, my God, what's so great about him?!" George held his forehead as if he was going to faint.
Gwen stood still, looking like a child who had made a mistake. But instead of the scolding she had expected, George said in a slightly urgent voice, "What are you still standing there for? Quickly call Peter and ask him to come back!"
"Um… Do you want to scold him in person?"
"I want to thank him! If he wasn't Spider-Man, how could he have protected you from another Spider-Man?! Get him to come back quickly, and for the next two months, you two better stay together 24/7. Don't give the ghost killer an opportunity!"
George looked around and said, "No, no, premarital cohabitation is too out of line... Why don't you two just get married?"
"What?"
