Chapter 2258 - Chapter 1529: Gotham Magic Academy (Middle) _1

After repeatedly confirming the feasibility of establishing a Magic Academy, Jim began to ponder more realistic issues. He asked, "So where do you plan to build this school? Or in view of the current situation, where would be safer?"

What he implied was that gathering all the magicians together might attract concentrated attacks from the enemy, especially on the weak links. The students in the school would be the perfect targets. First, they have weak resistance; second, any incident involving them would have widespread effects, which could severely undermine morale.

However, Constantine let out a smile and asked, "Where is the place that caused the Great Mage Alliance and the main forces of the Blood Clan to lose their footing?"

Jim slowly widened his eyes, staring at Constantine's face, he asked, "You can't mean Gotham, can you?"

"But, but..." Jim paused briefly, took a shallow breath, thought carefully, then rubbed his chin and said, "That does seem to make some sense."

Just as Constantine was about to explain something, Jim raised a hand to stop him and said, "But I believe the reason it makes sense might be different from your perspective. Have you heard of the Curse of Evil?"

"Zatanna has mentioned it to me, you don't believe in that stuff, do you?"

Jim shook his head and said, "I've discussed this with the fairies of Maya. These magical creatures view the world differently from humans. They say that the darkness in Gotham does not come from a superficial curse or some historical legacy resulting in magical influences, but for deeper reasons."

"They refer to the darkness of Gotham as an unshakeable whirlpool. No matter how the world changes, this will always be the City of Sin. Yet, its existence is not without advantages. The deepest evil in the world would be absorbed into this whirlpool, effectively reducing the sin elsewhere."

"Although the form of human life makes it difficult for us to perceive this intuitively, many mysterious powerful existences are clearly aware of Gotham's uniqueness."

Constantine frowned, and as Jim picked up a cup and began to wipe it, he said, "In other words, the higher the status and the closer the life form is to the source, the more they can understand this dark power, and the more cautious they will be when dealing with Gotham."

"Those not powerful enough or on a high enough level cannot deal with the dark power of Gotham, while those who are powerful enough would not willingly provoke Gotham. Planning the future of the magical realm there is indeed a good choice."

"But there's one thing..." Jim looked somewhat worriedly at Shiller and said, "I'm not sure the locals of Gotham would welcome a group of magicians, and also consider the shock of parents receiving an admission letter with Gotham as the address of the school."

Jim had already put it quite mildly. Shiller understood his meaning. Even though Gotham was basically not involved in the business of kidnapping and trafficking due to its special geographical location, its notorious reputation would make it unlikely for parents from other regions to send their children to school in Gotham.

However, Shiller revealed a smile, looking at Jim, he said, "This is exactly why we came to you. I've heard there are magical creatures in Maya that specialize in opening spatial rifts?"

Jim slightly raised his eyebrows, showing a look of realization, and said, "You're talking about the Builders, aren't you? They are a kind of fairy that lives underground in Maya, specializing in opening separate spatial domains. So far, almost all the spatial rifts of the grand mages are created by them, with the grand mages only being responsible for stabilizing them."

"You want to open a spatial rift in Gotham? This is indeed a good idea, as it can avoid the poor security situation in Gotham and provide some defensive capabilities, but to accommodate a whole school, I'm afraid that one or two Builder fairies won't be enough."

Shiller shook his head and said, "I'm not planning to create a spatial rift large enough for an entire school."

"Then you..."

"It's not me, it's Bruce," Shiller turned the wine glass in his hand and said, "He wants to create a Mirror City of Gotham to create an 'inner world' for Gotham and move most of the dangerous facilities into it to further restore Gotham's order."

Jim took a deep breath, his face turning serious, but he still asked first, "Then why didn't he come himself?"

"Actually, he has already completed part of the work. He has created a form of a mirroring and inverting magic array to copy the buildings of Gotham in reality, and is now testing it with Zatanna."

"Due to his human form of life, though, he is unable to open a spacetime rift that can be as stable as a natural one, or rather, he tried several times and found that the rift was not stable, and it was not the same as what he saw at Master Andrew's."

"John told me that you have connections in this area, so we came."

After a silence, Jim sighed and said, "The fairies underground are not easy to deal with, and the grand mages' are used to wasting power, which has spoiled them for many years."

"Deploying so many fairies at once, it's hard to ensure they won't ask for too much. I can give it a try, but I'm really not sure..."

"We'll go with you," Shiller said to Jim, "I think I should be able to convince them."
