Chapter 2114 - Chapter 1424 - Return of the Old Days (23)_2

"When the hell is Thor showing up?" Monster Iron Man roared. "We need a large-scale attack to obliterate these boneheads!"

"He'll be here any minute now!!" Monster Captain America roared back.

"Hurry up, I'm about to die. Again!" Monster Spider-Man yelped in misery, being beset by at least five or six Skeleton Swordsmen proved too formidable.

Spider-Man bent over, dodging a flung shield and with his Spider-sense blaring, swiftly rolled away from the foot kicked by a Skeleton Swordsman. A roar of anger escaped from him as he punched away a shield right in front of him. He looked up to see several figures casually flying past him in midair.

"It's one of them... Hurry up! Infect Magneto!! ...Wait, is that Peter Parker?" Monster Spider-Man exclaimed in surprise, followed by a gritted-teeth growl: "That coward!!! I'll rip him apart with my own hands!!!"

Peter, floating mid-air, watched the scrum down below with keen interest. His gaze persistently seeking some familiar figures. Sure enough, among the mob of skeletons, he spotted the golden-red figure.

"Can they still be saved?" Peter asked hesitatingly. Although he knew that superheroes in this universe had completely turned into monsters, his conscience still pricked him when seeing his friends transformed into grotesque beings.

"I'm afraid it's very unlikely, Peter." Jean Grey patted Peter's shoulder and shook her head, "This madness is highly contaminating. We need to ensure our safety first. Soulless undead warriors are just one of the many threats."

"Alright, but it still feels a bit strange."

"Of course, I understand your heartache." Jean Grey stepped forward, attempting to comfort Peter, but he shook his head and, furrowing his brows, said: "No, I'm not talking about that. Don't you think they're sort of... weak?"

Peter observed with arms folded. At the moment, Monster Iron Man, in his gold and red glory, was dodging airborne skeleton units while charging his hand cannon and seizing moments to launch missiles, blowing several skeletons away.

A perplexed look passed over Peter's face as he said: "What is Iron Man up to? What about the EMP generator in his left arm guard? If he doesn't use electromagnetic weaponry now, then when? What is he blasting???"

Following Peter's gaze, Jean Grey looked down. Even though she wasn't familiar with machinery or modern warfare, she noticed that the efficiency of the missiles against these skeletons wasn't high. Exploding could scatter the skeleton warriors but couldn't annihilate them completely. Several blown away skeletons congealed in mid-air. All efforts seemed fruitless.

"Maybe Iron Man in their universe hasn't invented such a thing." Blink speculated.

"But what about his flight trajectory?" Peter was still puzzled. He said, "This acceleration could rival the computer in a college laboratory.. .wait, is he manually controlling the Mecha? What about JARVIS?"

"Riley's data shows that this madness can't infect machinery, and quite a few robots formed a rebel army at the very beginning. Therefore, they don't trust any intelligent life at all. It seems like most intelligent life in their universe has been nearly wiped out." Jean Grey explained.

"Isn't that like throwing away your weapon?" Peter shook his head and said no more.

Shortly after, they arrived near the M'Kraan Crystal portal. The intelligent robots Peter set down earlier were already floating around collecting data. They were invisible, so the fighting Monster Superheroes didn't notice them.

Peter needed a landing spot, so he manipulated two robots to reveal themselves and began building a platform. Soon, a small metal platform was floating above the portal. After landing on the platform, Peter first activated a shield, and then began to install equipment.

Most of the equipment related to Mercury Base construction was compressed. Peter put all the compressed equipment into a cardholder. Whenever he needed something, he just had to flip through the cards.

"I think I need goggles, and then a vision converter … the light is too strong, so a shading device is necessary too."

While mumbling to himself, Peter tossed out cards. Soon, several pieces of small equipment were set up on the platform. The mutants were not very knowledgeable about technology; their main role was to guard the vicinity of the platform and ensure Peter's safety.

After observing for a short while, Peter raised his head and said, "I would like to take a closer look at the two energy nodes at the bottom, is that okay?"

"Stay away from them." Magneto's tone remained steady, but a hint of concern was discernible. Blink quickly added, "According to the data Riley gave us, direct eye contact with them can drive you mad, so we set our outpost way up high. It would be disastrous if any of us were controlled."

"What if I just have a quick look and then leave?" Peter added, hesitating for a bit before conceding, "Alright, we won't land. We'll just hover about ten meters from the ground. We are too high up here; I can't see anything clearly."

Jean Grey wanted to dissuade him further, but Magneto dismissed her with a wave of his hand and the metallic platform began to descend. Below them, more and more superhero monsters began to grow restless.

They were tired of the undying and unfeeling skeletons; they yearned for fresh flesh and more frenzied madness.

The one who was most eager and desperate was Monster Spider Man. He vowed to first infect his alternate universe self, then tear him apart. His mind was so consumed with violent thoughts, he spared no attention for anything else.

Peter, crouching next to the instrument, was observing the flow of energy. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flash of movement.

Peter stood up and looked into the distance, only to see the familiar red and blue figure rushing towards him in an extremely aggressive manner.

"Spiderman?" Peter squinted and then realized that this counterpart from another universe seemed to be charging at him.

Peter tried to stand and prepare to fight, but felt a magnetic force pinning him in place. Magneto gave him a cold look, his eyes saying "carry on".

Magneto's black cloak fluttered in the wind. He raised his hands slightly and suddenly, all the metallic weapons used by the skeletons in the vicinity started to vibrate, and then flew towards him from all directions.

Just as Monster Spider Man leaped into the air and charged towards them, he felt something beneath his feet. Looking down, he saw that it was a road formed by numerous squeezed weapons.

He started to run faster, trying to jump over the still forming part of the road. But soon, the road curved upwards to form a circle - yes, Magneto had created a hamster wheel.

Watching Monster Spider Man run faster and faster in the wheel, until he was panting and forced to grit his teeth to keep going, Peter slapped his forehead in disbelief. Seeing another version of himself being so foolish was more shocking than watching other superheroes.

Just as Peter sighed and was about to refocus on the equipment, he received a private message in his mind's chatroom. It was from the Amazing Spiderman in the prime universe.

"Hey, Peter, thanks for the technology you provided earlier. We have managed to stabilize the 'cosmic rift' for a while. But our universe has been through too many wars and is on the brink. I'm afraid that the rift in the cosmic rift will officially open in about a week."

"You said that your place has already been invaded by that strange, insane universe, and that they have their eyes set on us. So, do you have any good suggestions for us?"

"Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for your help. But since you've already clashed with them, I should be able to get some intelligence about our enemies from you to avoid being caught off guard when they attack."

"I heard that the Endless Madness has increased their military power, is that true?"

After listening to the private message, Peter looked up at the Monster Spider Man, who was so tired from running in the hamster wheel that he was starting to stick out his tongue. Then he said, somewhat hesitantly:

"I'm not sure about an increase in their military power, but their intelligence is...rather lacking."
