Chapter 2049 - Chapter 1380: Call of the Stars (Six)_2

A few minutes later, after pushing aside a cluster of wide and dense foliage, Quill finally saw the crashed spaceship.

"My God, what is this?!"

Quill's expression of shock was unparalleled because what appeared before him wasn't a beautifully crafted, minimalist, aerodynamic piece of metal that he had envisioned - all the spaceship debris he had seen at NASA had been so.

The object in front of him couldn't precisely be called a spaceship, instead, it looked like a fragment of a palace suspended upside down and shoved into the ground, as if a piece of some grand palace had been chopped off and carelessly thrown here.

Quill stepped closer; his discernment was correct. That was likely the spire of three-quarters of the main hall of a Gothic palace, the kind of tower often found besides the nave of a Gothic church.

He referred to it as Gothic because his rudimentary knowledge of architecture was insufficient to describe this structure in any other style; it was entirely black, with golden light flowing on the walls, and the metal adornments flickered with constellation patterns.

However, there was a sense of spatial distortion around it; it felt as if the structure wasn't truly formed this way, only that the human mind could only comprehend it in this manner.

"No wonder the director of NASA firmly believes there is treasure inside..."

In front of the massive structure, Quill's figure was minuscule to the point of almost disappearing. He stared up at this majestic wreckage.

He suddenly realized something and held his neck exclaiming, "How did I not see this huge thing when I was on the mountain? This, this isn't scientific..."

"The fact that you still uphold the spirit of science now could be considered a display of firm resolve," Rocket Raccoon was also staring at the structure, extending a paw to pat Quill's shoulder.

"I don't think it would be a good idea for you to rashly enter here; I suggest that we should leave first, then strategize."

"You really don't act like a beast, or rather, you are the complete opposite of them," Quill said, taking steps to circle the wreckage, seemingly in search of an entrance.

Suddenly, a tremor came from the ground; Quill was knocked down before he could react. He struggled to steady himself, but the somber sound of bells tolled simultaneously.

"Dong... Dong... Dong..."

His world was spinning.

Quill held his ears, but he couldn't block the sound of the bells. He saw, under the moonlight, in the shadow of the trees, the frighteningly greasy tentacles starting to twist and move again.

A nauseating sensation climbed up his ankle, then over his body, and deep into his stomach and intestines. Quill opened his mouth, gasping for air while the sound of sickles protruding from the eyeballs piercing his abdominal skin filled his ears.

"Squish, squish, squish..."

Eyeballs pouring out from the cocoon waved countless sharp limbs, fleeing to the depth of darkness and crawled up the face of several shadows in the dark, becoming their eyes.

Monsters carrying these eyes were getting closer, "Squish, squish, squish..."

Quill wildly waved his arms, shouting: "Don't come over, don't come over! Get lost, hurry up and get lost!!!!!"

"Are you okay? Hey! Hey! Buddy, wake up! We are not monsters, we are S.H.I.E.L.D.'s agents! Can you clear your mind a little?"

Bright light shone on Quill's face, bringing him back to his senses. His arm was frozen mid-air, when he moved it aside, he saw the faces of a few young people.

"Are you alright? What happened to you?"

The face of one of the leading young men seemed familiar. Quill's thoughts were abruptly tugged back to his first day back on Earth when he made a call to Lisa beside a newsstand. The newsboy who ran past him had a newspaper in his hand, the front page headline highlighted this young man's face.

"Peter...Peter Parker?"

"See, I told you it would be effective if we let Reilly soothe him, everyone trusts Peter Parker." An Asian young man behind the leader spread his hands out.

"Bro, if you're alright, don't lay there on the ground. Isn't it cold? Take care of your waist." The Asian young man walked up and helped Quill up, who then shook his head sounding a bit dazed.

"Sorry, sir, but I must ask why you are here? And what does this mysterious structure have to do with you?"

"I'm, I'm an investigator from NASA," Quill gasped, "Who are you? I don't think S.H.I.E.L.D.'s agents are this young."

"Indeed, we aren't official agents. We're just taking on a temporary task from S.H.I.E.L.D. I'm Ben Reilly. You may also call me Peter Parker, as you wish. My friends and I are entrusted by S.H.I.E.L.D. to investigate this fallen unidentified flying object."

Reilly extended his hand to Quill, who was holding his head with one hand and lightly shook Reilly's hand with the other. He said, "So, you all are those people with special abilities?"

Reilly turned to look at his teammates behind him, standing there were the Scarlet Witch Wanda, Jarvis, and Xu Shang-Chi. He then turned back to Quill, nodded, and said, "Yes, we all have special abilities, but none of us can be considered 'freaks'."
