"I just overheard a conversation amongst the vampire leaders underground. One of them, the very person who is instigating this war, mentioned that the power of the Bat God will descend tonight at the peak of moonlight," Peter said with utmost certainty.
Blade Warrior raised an eyebrow, "That's impossible. This so-called prophecy about the Bat God should be pure fabrication from their side."
Noticing Peter's skepticism, Blade Warrior stated, "You should know, I too, am a half-vampire. The only difference between me and them is that my mother was transformed by a vampire. During my upbringing, I was involved with this race internally. The whole concept of the Bat God only started circulating in the past few hundred years."
"It all began with a negotiation that took place at Kunlun about several hundred years ago."
From then on, Peter started gaining insights into the hidden past of this race from Blade Warrior.
A few centuries ago, vampires and humans participated in a war. It wasn't like the current one; the conflict involved superhumans instead of regular humans, and the battlefield was on the Eastern Continent, with a few flares also igniting in Europe. Only the Americas managed to remain unscathed, hence the people here were not fully aware of that war.
Without going into much detail, Blade Warrior described how the group of radical vampires from that year were nearly wiped out by the superhumans. In the end, the immortal Count Dracula stepped forward to negotiate with the humans. The negotiation took place at Kunlun.
Ever since then, the vampires' policy of seclusion has been strictly adhered to. Special investigative agencies in Asia and Europe ensured that vampires concealed within human societies didn't cause too much disruption.
Despite all precautions, there were always ambitious individuals who appeared from time to time. The newly born vampires were particularly unhappy with their humiliating treaty. The most representative figure among them was Deacon.
Simply put, those who've never been thrashed overestimate their capabilities.
Blade Warrior told Peter: "The worship of the Bat God emerged alongside the rise of these newly born radical vampires. Essentially, it's a superstition they fabricated to justify their aggressive ideology. There was never such a concept prior to this."
"If this god truly existed, it's implausible to presume that he would only have surfaced hundreds of years ago and possess such immense power. Besides, I've heard from some old vampire hunters that there are mysterious forces guarding Earth. Not every creature dares to proclaim itself as god here."
In conclusion, Blade Warrior said: "I believe they were probably tricked by a supernaturally powerful being that calls itself a god, and who revealed certain miracles to them. Naively, they agreed to summon it here, which is an exceptionally dangerous idea. They're essentially setting themselves up for destruction."
"The current issue is, will this god actually descend?" Peter asked seriously, "Those unhinged bats will undoubtedly initiate a total attack at night. If any powerful beings descend at that time, humans definitely can't stand against them, and the losses will be devastating."
"Humans are determined to resist these monsters at all costs, but our mission is to minimize these losses as much as possible," said Peter resolutely. He then added, "I think we need to continue investigating."
"My plan is to take down Deacon. As long as Deacon is out of the picture, no one would be able to perform the summoning ritual and naturally the self-proclaimed god won't be able to descend," Blade Warrior stated.
Spiderman was once again immersed in his strategic planning, he intercepted Blade Warrior, saying, "No, the radical faction isn't just Deacon. Barring the fact that we might not be able to eliminate this vampire completely, even after we kill him, his underlings will carry on. From what you've said, their numbers are quite extensive. We won't be able to wipe them all out before nightfall."
"From the conversation I overheard, the woman might possibly represent the moderate faction. They mentioned something about secretly controlling the human race. What's all that about?"
"That's pretty normal," Blade Warrior dismissed with a shrug. "Vampires are never a submissive species. They choose temporary seclusion only because they were badly hurt a few centuries ago. It's just another invasion strategy."
"Is there a deep discord between the moderate faction and the radical faction?"
"Of course, as you've just heard. With the moderate faction planning to gradually take control of human society from behind the scenes, the frequent upheavals created by the radicals have constantly led to their plans falling through. As human vigilance grows stronger, their process of accomplishment is being infinitely delayed."
