Over the Brooklyn Bridge, Rhodes quickly swept over the heads of the ground forces in his mecha, then pounded a bat that tried to sneak attack upon them into the ground, hammering it with a couple of punches.
Upon receiving the signal sent by Stark in the sky, Chief George raised a hand, shouting at the communication device, "Attention all! Prepare to start firepower suppression! Drive them under the bridge!"
With a swing of his shield, Captain America Steve directly pushed back two humanoid vampires beside him. Then he pretended to be defeated, jumped off the bridge with his shield in hand, and the two vampires followed him without a second thought.
In their view, this guy with the shield was simply a bit stronger than ordinary people. If it were not for the hardness of the shield, they would have broken through Steve's defense a long time ago.
Seeing the upper hand, two vampires pursued Steve relentlessly. They didn't notice that several strange mechas above their heads were charging toward the bridge pier.
Natasha stood on the roof of a truck behind the firing line. She saw that Stark's suicide mecha was ready and said, "Listen, the sequence of explosions is like this. We can ignore pier No.1 as it is severely damaged, the subsequent shockwaves will destroy it. We should blow up the sturdiest pier first, of course, it has to be done in one go, we cannot give the bats under the bridge time to respond."
Stark in the sky said: "Mecha No.4 and No.5 are in position, ready to start detonation, Jarvis, calculate the explosion range…"
"Explosion range confirmed, all allies have withdrawn, flight trajectory is being calculated…prepare for detonation...3…2…1…"
Stark was hovering over the Brooklyn Bridge, watching several streaks of light rushing towards the bottom of the bridge. The moment they touched the pier, a fire broke out, followed by an intense explosion. Broken bricks were blown hundreds of meters into the sky, and the entire bridge collapsed with a loud noise, the smoke and dust obscuring the battlefield.
"Explosions were successful, reaching the expected effect, we can proceed to the next step…" Jarvis's voice rang out in all radios.
"How many enemies did we eliminate?" Stark asked.
"According to the biological scans from the surrounding mech, the collapse of the bridge caused the death of 132 vampires, and about 120 vampires are seriously injured and are recovering…"
Before Jarvis could finish, Natasha shouted, "Locate their positions! Send them to the night vision mask! Finish off these injured vampires immediately!"
Stark clicked his tongue in the sky, he had just watched a bat struggling to flutter under two large rocks with both wings pierced, and in a few minutes it was able to fly crookedly again.
"This self-healing power is lethal, I hope Connors quickens up, otherwise, this fight won't end," Stark said.
But the situation on the battlefield was still improving. With the cooperation of the fighter squad and the ground special forces, the vampires' formation was severely damaged by the heavy firepower and the interspersing of Stark's Mech Armor Troops. Most of their forces were obliterated by the bridge explosion, leaving only some advanced vampires resisting.
The strategic counterattack phase began in full, and the human defensive line kept advancing. Machine gun fire and the sound of grenade explosions were continuous, and shrill screams rose from the ground from time to time.
The Blade Warrior held an assault rifle. He fired a burst of bullets that blew open the head of an advanced vampire. He took a deep puff of his cigarette, then stepped on the butt under his foot, saying, "It seems we won't need three days; we can finish them tonight…"
The moment he finished talking, he felt something wrong. A red light suddenly lit up on a rooftop in the Brooklyn area.
Then, this red light began to solidify slowly and formed a bat pattern.
Stark, of course, saw all of this. He frowned and asked, "What is that? Is someone playing with light shows on the battlefield?"
The Blade Warrior cursed quietly, picked up his radio, and yelled, "They are executing that mysterious ritual! Stop them!!!"
Before he could finish, Captain America sprinted at the speed of sound, then leapt directly onto the roof. But it was too late. Steve saw a massive mysterious array on the rooftop, but there was no one there.
"How do I destroy this thing?" Steve asked.
Before he could finish, screams broke out across the battlefield. All the vampires irradiated by the red bat's light let out inhuman screams. Then their faces twisted horribly as they began to transform into bat form.
But the bats they turned into weren't the same as the giant bats before. Each of them had a wingspan exceeding 10 metres, with spikes growing on their wing skeletons. Their originally normal bat faces had also transformed into hideous monster shapes.
More importantly, the red light in their eyes grew more and more intense, then they collectively lost reason, starting to indiscriminately attack everyone around them.
Those advanced vampires were no exception. The only difference was that the bat monsters they transformed into were surrounded by a thick black fog. A few police officers inhaled a bit of the black fog and immediately fell to the ground clutching their throats.
