Chapter 1917 - Chapter 1295: Interstellar Grand Stage (Part 2)_1

In the Bronx, New York, deep in a basement of a house, Wanda and Squirrel Girl brought a big bowl of steaming soup to the table. Fungi Man, the round guy, put down his game controller and walked over, rubbing his nose as he said, "My gosh, ladies, you're surprisingly domestic."

"Don't use that word to describe us." Squirrel Girl put her hands on her hips, rolling her eyes, "This is only for the celebration of our new base."

Soon, more steaming dishes were brought to the table. Suddenly, the basement door creaked open. Everyone turned their heads to see Nightingale walk in with Speedball Robert, who still looked a little pale, and Jarvis, clad in a casual sweatshirt, following behind.

Seeing Jarvis, Wanda brightened. She deliberately shrugged off her cape and flung it onto a nearby rack, sitting at the table and propping her face with her hand.

"The robbers clearly had forethought. They were waiting for the moment Mrs. Tracy left her house, then they picked the lock on her storage shed and stole that priceless bicycle."

"I'm a bit confused. How could a bicycle be so valuable? And how did the robbers know about Mrs. Tracy's collection?"

Nightingale and Speedball were discussing a recent case they had resolved. The New Warriors Team had disbanded, but Nightingale didn't want to give up on fighting crime. He happened to meet Matt in Hell's Kitchen, where Matt was training another team of young heroes.

Matt asked Nightingale to join, but Nightingale didn't see himself as a kid needing training. Matt respected their decision and suggested they move to a backup base he had prepared in the Bronx, to rebuild their youth heroes team.

This time, Nightingale felt he needed to be as discerning as possible in choosing his teammates. The tragic death of Spider Man and Captain America had cast a huge shadow over him, making him realize that fighting for justice was not something that could be accomplished with just enthusiasm or show.

At this point, Speedball Robert, whose mental condition had improved somewhat, sought out Nightingale. The two hit it off instantly and both wanted to reform the New Warriors Team.

Wanda and Pietro were looking for a new house. They preferred to live in places with poor security because the rent was cheaper and the dangers faced by ordinary people didn't affect them.

Using his information collection technology, Jarvis helped Wanda find a house. The houses that met Wanda and Pietro's requirements were mostly in the Bronx. Thus, the two groups crossed paths in the Bronx.

Soon they brought back the more stable and talented members from the previous team, Squirrel Girl and Fungi Man. They reformed the New Warriors Team and set up camp in the Bronx, dealing with the never-ending violent crimes and drug issues in the area.

In reality, the mutants didn't directly participate in the activities, or more accurately, the rest of the New Warriors didn't dare let them participate. Wanda's magic was too formidable. If it was used full-force, it would be much more than just crime-fighting.

The Scarlet Witch was too powerful. If she lost control, it would be another disaster. So Wanda just kept in limited contact with them, focusing mostly on the development of the Andromeda Galaxy and appearing only occasionally, while Pietro and Jarvis took on the reconnaissance duties.

Pietro's abilities didn't play a huge role in the development of Andromeda Galaxy. The regions there communicated through portals, so they didn't need a high-speed messenger. Jarvis, on the other hand, was focusing on exploring his newly acquired emotional module, so both stayed to help the newly reformed New Warriors Team on Earth.

"You're back from the Andromeda Galaxy?" Jarvis approached Wanda and asked, but Wanda suddenly felt a bit shy. She nodded, saying, "Yes. I had another argument with Erik and ran back home."

She suddenly rose to her feet, pacing around the table as she spoke, "I know you must find me annoying, like a temperamental child who keeps arguing with her father and running away from home."

"Of course not," Fungi Man spoke up. "Didn't we meet your father last time? He sure has a temper. It's absolutely not your fault."

"He's been especially irritable lately." Without showing any sign of resentment or sadness, Wanda just lowered her eyes, saying, "He and Lorna embarked on a task that is impossible for humans and drove themselves into manic depression."

"Professor Charles hoped I could visit both of them and calm them down. I didn't have much hope at the beginning and sure enough, I ended up playing mediator."

"They had a big fight over some data analysis, even resorting to physical violence. I almost couldn't separate them. But once I did, they teamed up to scold me."

Helplessly, Wanda shook her head, "Lorna is truly her father's daughter. They should be locked together forever. Those damned perfectionists and OCD patients."

Suddenly, Wanda felt a gentle pat on her shoulder and turned around to find Jarvis too close to her.

A flash of red crossed Wanda's eyes. With a "whoosh," Miss Witch flashed into a corner of the room. But she pretended like nothing had happened and continued, "I rushed here to celebrate your new base. But I have to visit Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters soon to update Professor Charles on the Andromeda Galaxy progress. I can't stay too long."
