Chapter 190 - Chapter 121 R: Major Bat Incident (Part 3)_1

In a small alley in the Queens District, Peter frantically donned Spider-Man's battlesuit and was having a heated argument with Venom in his mind.

"If it weren't for that bat monster you created, New York wouldn't be in a state of martial law! Oh, my God, are we heading for a world war?"

"You're really faint-hearted. I'd say we could still take a spin in the skies above New York City!" Venom said, "You're such a wuss, what are we scared of? After all, no one can beat us."

Peter was frustrated to the point of anger. He said, "Listen to what they're saying! They're actually saying that the Bat God is coming?? Come on! I'm...I'm a spider! I hate bats the most!"

"Really? But I think it's pretty cool." Venom said nonchalantly. Peter rolled his eyes and retorted, "Alright, listen. It was your turn to play the bat, now it's my turn to play Spider-Man. You can't interfere with me!"

As Peter climbed to the top of a building and looked into the distance, the night had completely fallen. However, the entire city was bathed in the red glow from the vampires' eyes, especially near the Brooklyn Bridge in the Brooklyn District, where countless bats were visibly fighting ground forces.

Peter tapped his head, puzzled, "What the hell is going on? Even if they got it wrong, there shouldn't be so many vampires suddenly appearing, right?"

"You really think all this is because of us? Obviously, they had plotted this all along. Didn't you do some investigation earlier? Numerous new vampires kept squeezing into New York. Can you guess what they originally planned to do?"

"You mean... they had intended to invade New York all along?"

"That's not what I said." Venom replied, "The incidents that broke out in the Queens District have reached a tipping point. Several weeks ago, traces of these monsters were already found in Hell's Kitchen. The new vampires in New York didn't keep a low profile, and they stirred up trouble for people they shouldn't have..."

"Hell's Kitchen? Isn't Doctor Shiller in great danger then? No! I need to get there now. His mental clinic has no defense power, I need to protect him!"

"It's too late. He was already taken to the Stark Building at the time we appeared."

A wave of relief washed over Peter, he then put on the mask and said, "Well, they were up to something bad anyway, so it's not my fault. Now, I'm off to be Spider-Man."

Peter launched a thread of spider silk to the roof and swung on it, exclaiming, "Whoa! Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is here!"

Within a minute, he arrived near the most intense battlefield. The large group of vampires there were all advanced creatures; they possessed magic abilities and apparently had organization and coordination in their tactics, which were severely pressuring the armed police's defense line.

Spider Man swung on his spider silk and vigorously kicked a vampire from behind. Then, with a roll in mid-air, he stepped on the back of a big bat, smashed it to the ground, and threw a few powerful punches.

With two vampires flipped over upon his arrival, the police naturally took notice. The Queens District Police Department Chief, George, was on the phone saying, "…we can start counter-attacking, right? Okay! Got it! I've been tolerating these bastards for too long!"

He shouted at the frontline police, "Prepare for heavy firepower suppression! Get the machine gunners ready!!"

A policeman at the front yelled, "Look! It's Spider-Man! That's the Spider-Man who's planning to fight against all the vampires in the world!"

George cursed, hung up the phone, and walked behind a blast shield. Watching Spider-Man perform heroically, punching one bat after another in the air, he commanded, "What are you waiting for? Cooperate with him! Focus on the bats that have landed! This is a good opportunity to clean them up!"

Then he picked up a rifle himself, shooting at a bat's wings. Support staff rushed to pull him back, "Chief George, please return to a safe position. We just received a message that you have been designated to command the three streets intersecting Queens District and Brooklyn District. You cannot get hurt!"

Meanwhile in the sky, that state of constantly strategizing in his head had returned to Peter as he signalled to the police to cooperate with him by ripping off the gunfire.

Spider-Man took aim at a truck that had just exploded on the side of the road, wrapped it with several strands of spider silk, then forcefully swung it around. The group of bats on the other side were about to form a formation for another swoop when the truck suddenly struck them, five of them instantly crushed under its heavy wreckage.

Advanced vampires can teleport, but they have to be alert to do so. Spider-Man's action was too sudden; two vampires were caught between the truck and a wall, and three were crushed underneath - all momentarily losing their ability to move.

The police had already received a signal from Spider-Man. The machine gunners loaded up a large amount of silver bullets and indiscriminately sprayed fire. Five bats were destroyed on the spot.

The inability to use heavy firepower before had been frustrating for the armed police. Now, the snipers didn't hold back either and brought out the high-power armor-piercing bullets. The bats in the air couldn't evade the well-trained snipers, even if the bullets only hit their wings, it would cause lethal damage.

The tide of the battle gradually began to turn. Humans started to gain the upper hand and pushed their battle line almost to the entrance of the Brooklyn Bridge. But further advancement was proving to be quite difficult.
