"Both Clark and I are not ordinary people, and Bruce is Batman. I suppose we've exchanged secrets then?"
Diana lands from midair, blinks and chuckles. But, Bruce turns around, walks away and shakes his head, "That's not fair. It's a no-brainer that you two aren't normal."
Diana quickly catches up from behind and disagrees, "That's because Clark didn't disguise himself well..."
"So you think your disguise is foolproof?" Bruce side-glances at her, then lets his gaze fall on her wrist. Diana is wearing a tracksuit with long sleeves, yet underneath, a metallic luster glows.
Diana looks at her wrist following his gaze. She draws up her sleeve, revealing two opulent metallic bracelets on her arm. She smirks, "I just like wearing our cultural jewelry, what's wrong with that?"
"Nothing wrong, as long as the gemstones on them don't change colors, that would be even better."
Diana is taken aback, but quickly brushes it off. She chases Bruce again and says, "Being Batman isn't exactly a secret either. Your chin matches exactly with Batman's!"
"The one who blew up the news was Clark, not you. When there are no heroes, even a nobody can make a name."
Clark intervenes right when Diana is raising her fist. The long-haired princess snorts and gathers her hair back over her ears.
She then starts studying her bracelets, looking at them in confusion, "Do these bracelets change color? What was the original color? ...I've been wearing them for at least a hundred years, how come I never noticed?"
Clark covers his face with his hand. He walks alongside Diana, shakes his head and says, "Haven't you realized he's tricking you?"
Diana's eyes widen, "But I already told you guys I can fly. He said he guessed it long ago, but what's the point since I already revealed the secret?"
"No point, that's just the kind of guy he is." Clark lowers his voice, "He's mentally ill. Don't take him too seriously."
"You could speak a little louder, really." Bruce's voice sounds from the front.
Clark speeds up, comes to Bruce's side, and chuckles as he tugs his arm. Diana rolls her eyes back and shrugs in the back.
The trio quickly returns to the farmhouse. When they get back, most of the planters have already left. Clark rushes into the garage and discovers all four tractors are missing.
Clark turns to see Jonathan walking in, followed by a chubby middle-aged man with curls. Clark raises his brows, "Uncle Treger, what brings you here?"
Jonathan sighs deeply, "It's my fault. I should have checked the old tractors before planting. Now, two of the four tractors are broken."
"I'm truly sorry, Clark. I was going to leave you one so you could cultivate a plot of land. But now, two planters didn't get their tractors, so I had to call Uncle Treger over to see if he could fix the two old machines for temporary use."
Jonathan's eyebrows, usually drooping down and making him look benign, have tensed up. He can't help but grumble, "It's been an unfortunate couple of years. Last year, the largest anthrax outbreak in a decade caused great loss on the ranch."
"This year, the weather warmed up late, pushing back planting season indefinitely and shortening it. Tractors that haven't broken down for years suddenly broke down."
Knowing that his dad often has some artistic and philosophical thoughts and is also somewhat of a pessimist, Clark quickly embraces Jonathan to comfort him.
Bruce steps forward and asks, "The tractors are broken? Where are the issues? Maybe I can repair them."
Clark's eyes light up, and he looks at Bruce, full of hope.
However, Treger, who is standing behind Jonathan, clucks his tongue, "No offense, Kent, but you're not poor. Why do you insist on keeping these old relics? We all know that in farming areas, practicality is paramount. No matter how meaningful these tractors may be, they eventually need to be scrapped."
Jonathan hides his sadness, and Treger continues to persuade, "Of course, of course, I know they were left by Old Kent. You rode them around the fields when you were little. They carry your memories with your father and brother. But they're really too old now. There's no need to fix them."
Seeing the sadness on his father's face, Clark still brings Bruce to the back garage. As soon as Bruce sees the two tractors, he shakes his head.
Even a non-professional can tell that these two machines are ancient. It's not about whether it's worth fixing them. Even if you put in a lot of effort to fix them, they'll break down again soon.
At this moment, Martha still wearing her apron, walks out from the back of the yard. She comes to Jonathan's side and argues,
"Nobody wants to steal your memories here! No one is going to haul them away to the junkyard. You can look at them until you're old and gray as long as you can find a working tractor. Why not buy a new one?"
