Chapter 1683 - Chapter 1139: Professor (II) _1

In the hospital corridor, Gordon reached out and patted Shiller on the shoulder. Shiller jumped in fright, and Gordon looked at him with some confusion. "Why are you lurking around? Don't you have an alibi? ... Wait, you weren't at the scene, right?"

As Gordon's confused gaze gradually turned to suspicion, Shiller, standing by the door, sighed and said, "Of course I wasn't there. Pamela can vouch for me. But more importantly, actually, I ..."

"Actually, this professor wouldn't have created such a sloppy crime scene." A voice came from inside the room. Shiller jumped again, and when he turned around, he saw Bruce's face.

"Professor, I hope you're not heartbroken because I switched to the physics department, or is that why you haven't been in class for a week?" Bruce crossed his arms and looked at Shiller.

"You got one thing right." Shiller responded without backing down, "I indeed stopped coming to class because you switched to the physics department, but not because I'm heartbroken. It's because I finally escaped the nightmare of having to read your papers, I needed to celebrate!"

After finishing, he walked into the room without glancing at Bruce. Gordon stepped forward, bumped Bruce's shoulder, and said, "To be honest, you should've notified him before you switched majors. Not everyone can accept their star student switching to another major."

"Star student?" Bruce turned his gaze to Gordon and said, "Aisha is even more of a star student than I am."

After that, he also walked into the room. Gordon stood there, hands on his hips, feeling the subtle atmosphere between the two and shook his head in confusion.

In the beginning, Shiller and Bruce's relationship was pretty good, you could say they were both teacher and friend to each other.

But later, their relationship became one of mutual torment. In addition to teacher-student issues, they also had doctor-patient disputes.

But now, for some reason, it seemed like the two really detested each other. This deeply rooted annoyance wasn't feigned.

Gordon had seen this kind of emotion before, his parents were typical examples. Married in their youth out of passion, they started tormenting each other afterwards.

If Gordon were to describe it, Shiller and Batman were like a middle-aged couple who experienced countless arguments when they were younger, exhausted all their strength, tormented each other into fatigue and haggardness.

The semblance of their reconciliation wasn't out of real concern or understanding for each other, rather they were worn out due to endless disagreements. Only one phrase accurately described their situation - "just getting by."

Gathering his thoughts, Gordon also walked into the room.

The crime scene was very simple, a doctor leaned against the window, his chest covered with blood, staining his white coat red. Fresh blood flowed down his arm to his fingertips and dripped onto the ground.

The officers brought the head nurse in, and she spoke clearly and quickly: "Doctor Richard is a native of Gotham, but he graduated from Metropolitan University Medical School. He's been in practice for 11 years, highly experienced in internal medicine."

"The patient in bed number 2 of this room was his patient, suffering from cholecystitis, the recovery was going very well, just two more days and he could be discharged. Today was supposed to be Doctor Richard's last rounds here."

"Doctor Richard did not show any abnormalities when he came to the hospital today. The nurses in our department all say he was normal."

"Richard was never married, he had no children, his last girlfriend broke up with him six months ago, he had no recent romantic history, no medical history, never had any doctor-patient disputes, and he was highly skilled. He did not have any medical accidents during his career."

"Doctor Richard was rather introverted, he never argued with anyone. He had good living habits, he would put everything back where it belonged."

"He always kept to himself, he had no complicated relationships, the last person to see him was a new intern nurse and she did not notice anything wrong."

"Today, when he came to check the ward, the other patient in the room had just been discharged, and his patient went to the bathroom. It was this patient, a mob member, who discovered Doctor Richard's body."

"This patient did not panic, he immediately called me over. Neither of us entered the ward again. You were the first to step into the ward after the body was found."

Chief Gordon was stunned. This was the first time in his career that he had handled a murder case in a hospital. He didn't expect the head nurse to explain everything so clearly without him even asking.

The head nurse nodded her head, smiled at Gordon and said: "My husband is also a police officer."

Gordon thought for a moment and said, "I'm not doubting you, but could you think carefully again, did Doctor Richard truly not have any enemies?"

"None in the hospital." The head nurse's tone relaxed a bit as she added, "But after all, he was a native of Gotham, I'm not sure about his relationships within the mob."

Gordon nodded, took note of this, and said, "Has the last intern nurse that saw him arrived? I would like to ask her a few questions."
