Chapter 1450 - Chapter 980: High Tower Battle (14)_1

After the Supervisor left, almost all the slaves lay on the ground in despair. Everyone felt that it was an impossible task and they were sure to be thrown into the magma. However, at this moment, Batman threw the Miniature Demon in his hand and before throwing it, he said:

"Go and shout as loudly as you can, draw everyone's attention to me."

The Miniature Demon was thrown onto the ground and hit the ground with a "bang", falling clumsily. But, seeing Batman's threatening eyes, it did as told, jumping and shouting in its spot, until all the Demons' attention was on Batman.

Assured that the Supervisor had gone far, and that the group of Eye Demons seemed not to care about the Mineworkers' actions aside from mining, Batman jumped on top of the mine cart. Seeing everyone looking up at him, he said gravely:

"If you want to live, do as I say. It's not impossible to complete the mining of two cartloads in one night."

At these words, all the demons stared at him. Batman looked up, surveying all the ore in the mine, then said:

"Currently, the shallow surface of the mine is enough to fill these two mine carts but the premise is, we must mine every corner and not leave any ore unmined."

Hearing his words, some old miners began to consider the state of the mine. Having recovered from their initial terror, they began whispering among themselves:

"Seems he's right. To the best of my knowledge, although our mine is shallow, there are quite a lot of ores. If we could mine them all, perhaps we could indeed fill them up."

"It's impossible. Even if we could mine all the ores on the walls, what about those on the ceiling? We don't have any flying demons here, how can we manage the ores on the ceiling?"

"Perhaps we could give it a try. Even if we can't fill it completely, as long as we work hard, perhaps they might consider the fruits of our labor and spare us."

"Exactly, exactly. I really don't want to be thrown into the magma, please, for goodness' sake!"

"Silence." Batman spoke again, "If you're willing to listen to me, I guarantee we can absolutely complete the task."

"Indeed, it's difficult to mine the topmost ores in the absence of flying abilities, but it's not completely impossible. But first, we need to start working immediately, mining all the ores we can reach."

Batman examined all the demons, his mind racing before he said: "Our previous method of working was too inefficient. Now, I am reassignining the work. Everyone follow my commands. Go mine where I instruct you to, mine in the manner I enforce..."

"If anyone disobeys, we might all die. Believe me or not, I'm the only one who can save you now. If you understand, start working now!"

"All the red-skinned Giant Demons, pick up your tools and station yourselves at the edges of the mine where there are the most ores. Work in groups of three and jointly mine the large ores..."

"All Miniature Demons, form a group of five and position yourselves around the Giant Demons. As soon as the ores fall, pick them up immediately."

"Form a line, Shuttle Snake Demons, you are in charge of transporting the ores..."

"Remember, do not mine the ores at the two extreme ends of the mine, don't even touch them...You, the Shadow Monster, yes, you, come here, stay still, I have a different task for you..."

Under Batman's arrangement, the entire mine operated in an orderly manner. Under the pressure of death, everyone obeyed and worked hard. After all, Demons may be chaotic, cunning, and evil, but they also fear death.

Moreover, in times of panic, intelligent life forms instinctively rely on those with the loudest voices, regardless of whether their words are right or wrong. As long as they can provide direction for everyone, they naturally assume a leadership position. That was the case with Batman.

Before Batman changed the mining rules in the mine, demons would simply find an exposed rock layer with ores and start digging. The mined ores would be put in a basket nearby and then manually carried to the mine cart to be dumped in.

This method had its problems. Miniature Demons couldn't mine and could only carry small fragments at a time. While Giant Demons could mine quite a bit, their movements were slow, and delivering a basketful of ores would take the time they could otherwise spend mining two other rocks.

Batman clarified everyone's roles, transitioning from individual work to collaborative work, boosting efficiency rapidly.

The mine was bustling. Repeating their actions non-stop, the Giant Demons used their strong arms to break the rocks. The agile Miniature Demons swerved through the legs of the Giant Demons, picking up all the fragments and throwing them to the Shuttle Snake Demons.

The lower half of the Shuttle Snake Demons was a snake tail and the upper half had human arms. They could bend their tails and jump really high with impressive speed. They'd usually balance the basket filled with ores on their heads, jump, and directly drop it into the mine cart and climb out again.

There were also various kinds of small demons who could use tools. They handled smaller ores in the rock layers and pried out even the pieces in the tight corners or gaps unreachable by the Giant Demons, then put them in the baskets, ready for delivery to the mine cart.
