On the skyline of Gotham, one after another deep green piece of broccoli mingled among the iron jungle, as though the often-consumed food awaken their indomitable spirit and willing to carry out collective revenge on mankind.
However, the actual result didn't damage mankind, because in truth, broccoli does not contain common allergens found in nature.
Also, it doesn't have the distinctive aroma of coriander or celery, and most people's dislike for broccoli is merely due to its taste and texture, not reaching the level of physiological allergy.
Many people know that physiological allergies can have many very severe symptoms, including skin itchiness, difficulty breathing up to shock, and a serious allergic reaction can even be fatal.
But Shiller is not physiologically allergic to broccoli, so the severe reactions mentioned above will not occur, and even if they occur, Gray mist can forcibly reverse these reactions. His allergy to broccoli is psychological, is a bit severe.
"Gray mist, take me back to the mansion, I need to pack, I can't stay in Gotham, I am going to Metropolis … Ah, no, not good, the entire East Coast … I'll go to Los Angeles … Or maybe not even America…" Shiller panted.
Speaking to this point, Shiller suddenly stopped. He muttered to himself, "If Gotham, a seaside city, is invaded by broccoli, wouldn't there be lots of broccoli seeds flowing into the Pacific Ocean through Gotham's drainage system??!!!"
"God, I suppose I can't even stay on Earth anymore!"
"Gray mist, take me back to the mansion, I need to ask Merkel whether the Soviet Union has any lunar programs planned recently..."
Shiller formed into a cloud of mist and made his shaky way back to Rodriguez Manor. Shiller, whose mind was not clear, arrived directly in front of the mansion's main entrance and walked toward the mansion.
The good news was that the inside of the mansion had not been invaded, everything was as normal in the reception room and the staircase. Shiller didn't notice his housekeeper Merkel was missing, he ran up the stairs in a panic and started packing his things.
As he put his regular clothes into his suitcase, he cursed out loud, "Heaven help the one who did this..."
Saying that, while he continued packing, he calculated with a dizzy mind, "The only one who has the capability to turn all vegetation into broccoli, I fear, could only be All Things Green... However, we just reached an agreement, and the terms of the agreement are beneficial to both sides. He has no reason to do this..."
"Besides, he doesn't know I'm allergic to broccoli, while the ones who do know…" Shiller thought of the three he saw in the memory space of his room. He folded his clothes and stuffed them into the suitcase, then snorted coldly, "It must be those three…"
"Remove that magician who looked like Zatanna, left are just Batman and Constantine."
"Batman? All I did was held up his graduation thesis for a few months, right? I just threw it into a vat of chemical dye, right? Does he need to be so petty?"
"Constantine? That damn scoundrel! All I did was hit him a few times with an umbrella, right? I just used the Spirit of Curse to lay a false charge on him, right? Does he not understand that we need to be generous?"
"Lowly, dirty, taking advantage of one's peril …"
Just as Shiller was turning around to go back to his closet to organize his suits, he suddenly remembered his housekeeper.
Shiller was confident in Merkel's capabilities, the problem is, the recent odd occurrences were just too many. So, he stopped his action, put the clothes to one side, and looked out the door.
There was no sign of Merkel in the corridor, this was actually very odd. As a housekeeper, he should've come to greet as soon as Shiller walked in. Even if he was busy at the time, he would definitely show up in a few minutes to inquire after his employer's needs. But from the moment Shiller began packing, it had been about ten minutes, and Merkel hadn't shown up at all.
Shiller turned his head, looked at his closet and suitcase, they were in a bit of disarray due to his angered actions. He sighed, and decided to let professionals handle this.
Shiller exited his room, went through the corridor, down the stairs, to the reception hall. He looked out the glass window and saw his housekeeper Merkel carrying a huge axe and chopping at a tree.
To say he was chopping a tree wasn't entirely correct, What he was chopping was the giant broccoli that turned from the original oak tree in the garden.
While Shiller hadn't returned to the mansion, Merkel, who was in charge of landscaping the garden, witnessed the process of how plants turned into broccoli and he knew clearly how much Shiller disliked broccoli.
Upon discovering this mutation, he used every gardening tool he had to uproot broccoli in the garden, in order to prevent his employer from going mad due to severe allergic reactions upon return.
Not many other plants survived, also due to the shed collapsing earlier, most of them had been ground into dust. The most robust of them all was the oak tree in the middle of the courtyard, thus, the piece of broccoli it turned into, was also the biggest.
Upon seeing this, Merkel knew, if he let such a big piece of broccoli stay, Shiller would definitely go crazy upon his return. Therefore, he would naturally think of ways to chop down this giant broccoli.
Looking at Merkel chopping the tree, Shiller did not realize the seriousness of the situation.
With his head not clear, naturally he did not realize that, no matter what, broccoli is a herbaceous plant. Using an axe for chopping wood to deal with its stem, was probably like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Moreover, Merkel had professional training and was stronger than normal people, he was also in a hurry and wanted to remove these pieces of evidence before Shiller returned, therefore, a few strikes and there was a big damage on the tree stem of the broccoli.
It just happened that where Merkel stood was half-hidden by the stems of broccoli. The wound Merkel made on the stem of the broccoli was completely invisible from where Shiller stood.
Shiller was standing by the window sill, seeking to shout for Merkel to come back in, when he suddenly discovered a shadow creeping over his head.
The towering broccoli, almost like an oak, slowly fell down in his direction.
At this crucial moment, Shiller's ability to 'Flash' saved his life. There was a loud bang, the giant broccoli smashed through the glass windows of the reception hall and nearly half of the buildings in the west wing of the mansion.
What was even scarier was the branch of the broccoli that barged into the reception hall was merely centimeters away from Shiller's nose. One man, one broccoli, they were staring at each other closely.
Therefore, about five minutes later, Batman saw in the grand hall of Rodriguez Manor something he had never seen before - a dispirited, pale-faced Shiller.
