Chapter 1289 - Chapter 876: Brilliant Stars (21)_1

Inside the Avengers' base, Peter puts down the game controller, sighs, and picks up the nearby Pikachu, rubbing its cheeks as he speaks, "If you hadn't messed with it, why would the language system break?"

Pikachu frowns and grumbles, "Isn't that because you're too weak? We could have lasted another round or two. You broke one of its tentacles right as we landed!"

"Don't you have your own controller? Why do you have to steal mine? You..." Peter starts, but he's interrupted by his phone ringing. He picks it up and says, "Hello? Gwen? Did you finish class yet? Ah, you're Spider Gwen? Sorry, I misunderstood. What? You're having trouble with Doctor Octopus? Oh, I see, well, I'm kind of busy right now..."

"No problem, the Doctor Octopus of our world is just a researcher, easy to handle. His weakness is his tentacles, especially his third one on the left. Destroy that one, and he'll lose his balance. Yes, do as I say, and you'll definitely be fine..."

After hanging up the phone, Peter picks up the controller again and says, "Spider Gwen has also met Doctor Octopus? But we only sent out three robots. Which one did she encounter?"

"Let me check, Shadow Spider-man faced Doctor Octopus number 1, Extraordinary Spiderman number 2, Spider-Man 2099 is number 3..."

"So which one did Spider Gwen come across??" Peter scratches his head in confusion. Suddenly, he freezes, then abruptly drops the controller, his yell echoing through the Avengers' base:

"No!! Gwen!! Don't mess with him!! That's the real deal!!"

"Ugh..." Spider Gwen crashes onto the ground with a cry of pain. Looking at the approaching tentacles, she grits her teeth, gets up, and swings back into action with her spider silk, landing on the rooftop of a building.

Spider Gwen looks up at Doctor Octopus Otto and cries out in surprise, "What's going on?? His mechanical arm..."

"The third tentacle... the third tentacle..." Spider Gwen drops again, fakes a move towards Doctor Octopus's right leg. Doctor Octopus instinctively turns to dodge, and Spider Gwen wraps a string of spider silk around his third tentacle on the right and yanks hard.

With a "sizzle," the spider silk snaps.

"What are you trying to do, miss?" Doctor Octopus asks.

He doesn't recognize Spider Gwen as Spider Man. Her outfit looks nothing like his, and they're different genders, too.

Moreover, Doctor Octopus knows Spider Man is Peter, and knows that Peter wouldn't be out brawling on the streets this time of day. So, he doesn't realize his opponent is a Spider Man; he thinks he's just dealing with another street hero.

"I don't know where you came from, but my tentacle set is registered with S.H.I.E.L.D., and I have the legal right to use it for commuting in New York. You look young. Maybe you should go home and do your homework instead of running around on the streets. No one here needs your help."

"You think I'll believe that?" Spider Gwen sticks to the nearby building, coolly glaring at Doctor Octopus. "You're just trying to carry out your evil plan, but I won't let you!"

Doctor Octopus rolls his eyes, and casually cuts through the spider silk Spider Gwen shoots at him. Spider Gwen exclaims in surprise, "What is your tentacle made of?? How could it cut through my spider silk??"

"You can't tell me you don't recognize molten steel," Doctor Octopus frowns, looking at Spider Gwen. "A metal that produces flame patterns in the sun, it's molten steel. Which university did you graduate from? You don't even know this?"

"And, are you some kind of Spider Man wannabe? But even if you're copying him, you should at least improve your technical skills. What are your spider silks made of?"

"Um, a compound of fiber and mucus..." Spider Gwen instinctively replies.

Doctor Octopus immediately snorts, "Please don't tell me that's a product of biology and chemistry. Even if you don't really know Spider Man, you should still know that his spider silk is actually metallic."

"How could that be?!" Spider Gwen instinctively objects, "I've tried using flexible metals, but they're completely inflexible..."

"Completely inflexible? You're being too arbitrary! Just because your own tech isn't up to par, you dare to jump to such absolute conclusions? You're far from being a match for the real Spider Man!"

"He researched and created a new alloy spider silk, and in his symbiote research project, he even invented a type of living spider silk..."

"Forget it, why am I even telling you all this? You're just a poor imitation, move aside, I don't want to fight with a little girl."

With that, Doctor Octopus is about to leave, but Spider Gwen is not about to let him off the hook. "I am not an imitator, I am Spider Gwen! My battlesuit and spider silk are my own research achievements, and I'm a Gold Medal Researcher in New York. How dare you say that about me..."

"Then I can only say, the one who wants to destroy New York isn't me, but you." Doctor Octopus taunts as he walks away, "If the current Gold Medal Researchers are all of your level, then I may as well give up on ever leaving the Solar System..."
