Chapter 1264 - Chapter 856: Splendid Stars (Part 1)_2

Polaris clutched onto the doorframe tightly and said, "You should leave this place and go back to the Andromeda Galaxy, don't ever appear before me again!"

"Lorna…" Magneto called her name but Polaris' anger intensified. "Don't call me that! You don't have the right to call me that!"

Polaris stepped back, glared at Magneto and said, "Don't you dare to get me back to the school...Magneto, if it wasn't for you abandoning my mother, she wouldn't have died!"

"If my foster parents hadn't died, I wouldn't have been sent to an orphanage and then to boarding school, where I was bullied by those weak, childish, and stupid ordinary people!"

Polaris became more agitated, her fingers trembling. She spoke quickly: "What did I do? All I did was break the bones of the bullies so they would never stand again. What's wrong with that? They got what they deserved!"

"When they stuck mud in my desk and smeared gum on the wall next to me, they should have known that this day would come! I regret not killing them!"

"And what then? The fucking X-Men came after me, calling me a criminal! They said I shouldn't have done that, that I should never hurt ordinary people... Fuck ordinary people!"

"Students bully transfer students, rich ones bully poor ones, those with both parents bully those from single-parent families. Haven't they seen through the nature of these ordinary people? They're not weak sheep who need protection, but a pack of disgusting jackals ready to take a bite out of everyone!"

"Nobody in this world is more vicious than they are! But the X-Men say we have to protect them, care for them, stand with them!"

Polaris was shaking all over. She stared at Magneto and said: "And now you intend to stand with them too… Get out! Leave! I never want to see you again, you damn monster..."

Suddenly, she heard the humming of the magnetic field, and Polaris's expression stiffened. She instinctively created a magnetic shield around herself, but it shattered instantly. She couldn't match Magneto's power.

"What do you want to do? Kill me?! … You've always wanted to do that, haven't you? You inhuman monster!!!"

In an instant, a magnetic storm enveloped Polaris. Once it dissipated, she collapsed, unconscious, and therefore failed to see the expression on Magneto's face.

Magneto wasn't angry, nor was he as stern and stubborn as usual. His expression was extremely complicated.

Very few people have seen Magneto express such a range of emotions. In most cases, he forever kept a straight face, silent.

As Polaris collapsed, her form distorted and faded, casting a small shadow reflected in Magneto's pupils.

After finishing the recollection, he looked across at Charles with a blank expression. Yet Professor X continued to smile, saying, "Last night, you should have shown your support to little Lorna as I suggested, right?"

"You see, Erik, parents should always stand with their children. Even if she gets into trouble, you must still express your intention to protect her. That is how you show her your love..."

Charles wheeled himself next to the office table and said, "I have suggested it to you many times before, but you were unmoved. It seems Lorna indeed holds a special place for you, since you were willing to give it a try."

"With a powerful father like you behind her, she will feel safer. This is the way to heal the wounds caused by her past experiences with bullying…"

Charles then turned his attention to Magneto, "Children can be loud and disruptive, but they aren't asking for much, just a sense of security."

"You must show them through your actions that you're always standing beside them, never leaving, no matter what happens. Because you're family, and family members should support each other…"

"Lorna…" Magneto's finger twitched slightly. He was filled with a multitude of emotions, none of which translated into words. Eventually, he said, "…her situation is severe."

"Severe? What's severe about it?" Charles looked at Magneto in confusion; he did not know what had happened the previous evening.

When Stark called Magneto to come back, he did return, but he went directly to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and saw Charles.

Hearing the news that Lorna had returned, Charles advised Magneto not to criticize Polaris.

Even if he needed to point out her mistakes, he must first express his position. As her father, he would always be there for her, no matter what happened, he would protect her.

So, off Magneto went.

But an error somewhere must have occurred. The scenes that Polaris and Magneto described about that evening were completely different. What Shiller and Charles, the two psychologists, understood were also entirely different.

Based on Polaris' account, Shiller could only imagine a large-scale horror thriller. Even if the ethical component were removed, it would still be deeply unsettling and terrifying.

But since Magneto nodded when Charles asked if the previous night went well, Charles assumed that the father and daughter must have had an intimate heart-to-heart talk, further strengthening their bond as family.

This caused the two psychologists to offer entirely divergent counseling to the father-daughter pair.

"Alright, Miss Lorna, may I call you that? Since you know that Charles and your father are close, you wouldn't go to him. That's why you came to me…"

"The fact that you sought a mental health specialist means that you feel there's something wrong with your psychological state. Have you noticed any changes in your life recently? Can you share them with me?" Shiller looked at Polaris and asked.

"Changes?" Polaris frowned, hanging her head, appearing very weary. "I've been so tired recently that I can't even lift my arm..."

Shiller took out a medical chart and started writing. Noticing that Shiller was not paying attention to her anymore, Polaris started to relax slightly.

Shiller didn't look up and asked: "Have you been busy with work recently? Have you taken a few days off to relax?"

"I was really tired in the first few days, but I've gotten a lot better recently. I didn't take any days off. I don't think I need a break. When I was working in the Andromeda Galaxy, I could even work continuously for two months."

Shiller raised an eyebrow, "Miss Lorna, everyone needs rest. If you feel like you don't need to, it might be because some other emotions are urging you to do so. These emotions have clouded your brain, causing it to produce excessive adrenaline, keeping you constantly agitated. That's not good."

"What are you thinking when you're working in the Andromeda Galaxy?" Shiller asked.

Unexpectedly, Polaris remained silent for a while before she slowly said, "I'm thinking... about the future of mutants."
