Chapter 1020 - Chapter 691 U: Infinity Major Event (10) _1

"Explain yourself!" Peter grabbed Dr. Octavius Parker's arm, and asked him loudly, "What do you mean by 'doomed'? How could you curse a good doctor?"

"I'm just stating a fact." Dr. Parker's tone was calm, without any fluctuation, as if he was describing a matter unrelated to him. "You will never understand it until you learn this lesson, and you will pay a hefty price for it."

"No... Doctor Shiller can't... how could he..." Peter stepped back, shaking his head in denial. As Dr. Parker sat at the desk, busily tinkering with gadget parts, he said, "Yes, that's just what you thought before Gwen and Ben Parker died."

"What the heck are you talking about?" Peter incredulously said, "You should go see the doctor, how could Gwen and Uncle Ben die? They are just ordinary people."

"Exactly because they are ordinary people, they're going to die, and because of your foolish actions." Dr. Parker's hands paused for a moment, but he continued working without turning to look at Peter, and he said, "You're mighty and invincible, no thugs or criminals can hurt you, but ordinary people..."

"I... I will protect them." Peter stood in place and responded seriously, "You must be suffering from a mental illness due to high stress, you should see a psychiatrist, instead of spouting nonsense here!"

"Whether I'm talking nonsense or not, you'll know if you ask the other Spider-Men."

"I will ask them, don't think you can deceive me!" Peter stormed out angrily.

However, when he arrived in the hall, he realized the other Spider-Men were all preoccupied with their work, and the majority of the Spider-Men wore an expression that screamed 'do not disturb.'

Peter tried to strike up a conversation, but they ignored him. Left with no other choice, he returned to Dr. Parker's room and said, "Take me to the 'Amazing Spider-Man,' I'm sure he won't be as crazy as you."

Peter felt that Dr. Parker was just ranting. How could he possibly put Gwen, Uncle Ben, or Doctor Shiller in danger? How could they possibly die? This was by far the most absurd theory he had ever heard.

Dr. Parker simply took a transmitter from the desk and threw it to him. Peter caught it and quickly figured out how to use it.

He walked out with the transmitter in hand, looking back to warn Dr. Parker, "As soon as I have proof, I'm coming back to beat the crap out of you!"

As he spoke, he left the room, activated the transmitter, and returned to the previous hall. By now, most of the Spider-Men were repairing the damage caused by the previous battle. The first to notice Peter's return was Spider-Gwen.

She walked over and looked at Peter with a puzzled look and asked, "Why are you back? Did you quarrel with 'Superior Spider-Man'?"

"He spouted a bunch of nonsense. I came to ask the 'Amazing Spider-Man' what's going on." Peter grumbled, "He even cursed my teacher, my uncle, and my girlfriend! I can't stand him anymore!"

"How did he curse them?" Spider-Gwen inquired curiously.

Peter started walking and complained to her, "It was just some nonsense. He said anyone who said 'with great power comes great responsibility' is bound to die. Doesn't that sound ridiculous? How can someone die just because of a sentence?"

"He also said Uncle Ben and Gwen are going to die, but they're obviously alive and well. I will protect them."

As they were walking, Peter noticed that Spider-Gwen had stopped. He looked back at her, confused, and said, "Right, I haven't asked your name yet, which is a bit impolite. Are you the female version of Peter Parker, or someone else?"

"I am..." It seemed that Spider-Gwen didn't want to mention her name, "…call me Spider-Woman."

"Spider-Woman? Cool! If I were a girl, I might have liked this code name too." Peter cheered up a bit and followed Spider-Woman, saying, "Aunt May always wanted to have a daughter. She once said how nice it would be if I were a girl. It seems her wish came true in your universe, how wonderful."

Peter swung his arms and looked up at the ceiling, saying, "The endless cosmos, infinite possibilities. Perhaps there is a universe where everyone's regrets are satisfied, and they are living happily together…"

"...Maybe there is." Spider-Gwen uttered these words and then walked off, leaving Peter alone to walk into the 'Amazing Spider-Man's' room. Amazing Spider-Man was taken aback when he saw Peter arrive.

Without waiting for a question, Peter began to vent about Dr. Parker's actions, full of discontent in his tones.

"...I told you he's spouting nonsense, right?" Finally, Peter asked, only to find that the room was too quiet. The 'Amazing Spider-Man', who was standing in front of him, was quiet and looked at him. Peter asked, "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Amazing Spider-Man shook his head and said, "It's nothing, If you're not happy working with him, come back here. My team will always welcome you."
