The next day, the alarm clock in Tomi's room rang. She groaned and stretched to the alarm clock, she checked the time.
"Five thirty" Tomi screamed and ran into the bathroom. She got out some moments later and started dressing up, she wore the uniform she was ordered to wear and then she packed her bag and left the house.
She flagged down a taxi asking him to take her to Regina High school. The taxi zoomed off and in about twenty minutes got to the described address.
Tomi made her payment then she got out of the taxi and made her way to the staff room. She entered and cheerfully greeted the few tutors she met. She checked Esther's seat and sighed.
"Yet to come" she mumbled.
Few moments later, the assembly was held, necessary informations were passed across to the students and about the event of the day, they called out twenty four students, four from each class and six tutors who were accompanying the students.
The trip commenced at about ten minutes after the assembly. Just then, Esther who was one of the tutors in company rushed over to the school bus that was taking the students
Tomi and Esther sat together with two Jss3 students.
"Good morning ma" they said with a slight bow.
"Morning how are you?" Esther said.
"Great thank you ma" They said together.
The trip went on, many new things were discovered which made these students ask as many questions as possible. Esther and Tomi were always ready to answer the questions they throw.
When they got to their destination, the driver announced that they were there. Tomi sighed and was about to stand up when the girls said.
"Thank you so much mas for the questions you answered" the girls smiled.
"How about you just call me Auntie Tomi"
"Like we call her Auntie Esther?" the girls asked.
"Yeah" Tomi answered.
"Let's just go" Esther said and the four of them moved out of the bus.
They entered the big hall full of students from different schools and their teachers. A waiter approached Esther and Tomi with a tray of two glasses of wine. Tomi picked up a glass and sipped.
"I'll ask Ben when they will start" Tomi said.
"Okay then" Esther replied.
Tomi approached Ben and met him standing with a man in black suit.
"Ben" she said and mistakenly spilled wine on the man beside Ben. "Sorry, sorry" Tomi said looking innocent.
"How will I get the stain off, I would soon be called up, can't you be more careful?" He yelled at her.
"My bad sir, she didn't mean it" Ben said trying to support her.
"I know I could clean it off, follow me" Tomi said gesturing to the man to follow her, she asked a cleaner the way to the restroom. They got inand closed the door.
"Take it off" Tomi ordered.
The man took off his suit and handed it over to Tomi. Tomi took salt on the sink and poured it on the spill, then she poured boiled water on it and washed, she, washed it and dryed it.
"We'll start by inviting our guests of the day to the high table" the M.C said. "First we'll invite the most special guest of today, he's the chairman of the occasion".
Inside the restroom, after, the man wore his suit he dashed out.
"Not even a thank you" Tomi murmured angrily.
"That's CEO Akin Adelaja " the M.C said and the same who left Tomi in the restroom came out and walked up to the high table.
"So he bears Akin" Tomi grinned.
The occasion continued and when it was finally time to award the top three schools, CEO Akin was asked to do it.
"And the winning school is" the M.C paused and look around. "Regina High school" he continued and a standing ovation was given to RHS.
Tomi smiled and Ben told her to go for the prize.
"Ben...." Tomi hesitated but Ben told her to go.
Tomi went up and collected the prize from Akin. She looked into his eyes lost in thought, like as if she was looking for an answer to a question.
Akin cleared his throat and it brought Tomi back to reality. "It's you?" He asked silently.
"Yeah" Tomi nodded. She collected the prize and left.
After the occasion, everyone from RHS took a picture with the organizing department and CEO Akin, then they got into the bus. Tomi kept thinking about what happened, she really doesn't know why she kept thinking about what happened.
